Regarding the Revision of the Prohibited Activities and Account Penalty Policy

Some of it is valid worry from folks who like to interact and come across the usual "DF d*s" (see the Tales thread story HyoMin referred to). Some of it is out-of-proportion self-victimizing from folks who already know that they're offensive and are worried they might actually be called to task for it.

These are far too vague and give far too much power to the GM who can interpret and apply them any way they want. "expressions that unilaterally reject another person's opinion", being the big one. This is not a good way to create a healthy community.
I will not be using in game chat until I can be sure a GM won't decide to undo years of work for telling a random that their favorite flavor of pizza is gross.

After reading the changes and the updated TOS, all I have to say is that I am not entirely happy.

You cannot regulate compassion. Try all you want, you just cannot regulate compassion.

You cannot force people to become compassionate by the "fear of the report".

That sounds accurate.
The NN today was particularly combative - people complaining they can't act horribly to people without being called out on it.
'Freedom of speech'/snowflakes/trolls... all the limited vocabulary children and maladjusted adults roll out when someone questions their stupidity.

Welp. I will probably never say another word in-game again other than FC chat. It's just too dangerous to talk in-game right now.

Can you guys also change how deleting someone from your friend's also remove you from their friend's list now?

You can't force compassion... but you can ban people who are so averse to being compassionate that they'd rather break the rules than control their own behaviour to avoid a ban.


I can't even begin to comprehend seeing compassion as a negative, "forced" thing you could complain about having to follow.

Your reaction is something that we will see more of. The environment will be more exclusive. I can see the increase usage of communication tools outside of SE's jurisdiction.

The problem with this mentality is that we already had a perfectly fine system in place, where if you actually did anything bad to somebody, you'd get in trouble.

Now, the new system is that if you "hurt" somebody (which can be anything) you can get banned no matter what it was, if the GM is in a bad enough mood.

Yup.

Basically, the best MMO community on the market, and they decided that it was too friendly, open, and public and decided to push everybody to Discord. Bravo. Now we can just have mostly silence in-game.
