Dragoons... how do you feel post 4.0?

I played drg since 1.0, and I have never felt the way I do about it, as I do now in stormblood. I like other dps jobs, I gravitate towards them, and I like to try to play them as optimally as I can. Obviously some jobs I was better at than others, but drg was always my fall back, the one job I loved and was strong yet simple. It was the most balanced job out of the melee for the better part of 4 years. As of right now, I can't stand to even look at it. Dragon Sight, coupled with the long Nastrong Wind-up has driven me away. While I like the mirage dive mechanic, and the Lance Mastery feeling of being able to do strings of combos like no other class, Its just not good enough. I've raided on drg in almost every tier except for 1 (went war lol), but as it is right now, its just not for me. I'm currently rushing ninja to 70 for raid, and will most likely hang up my lance until there is a good enough fix. Potency fixes will help, but in the end, I want dragon sight to go away, and give me back my blood for blood trait, and make the wind-up to nastrond actually mean something...

I won't stop playing mine but it greatly annoys me to play other classes and not see their gauges decay in any way. Also, the fact that they put skill speed on almost every piece of our gear is a slap in the face.,

Honestly, even if they just made LOTD take on a 30s timer by default instead of either 15s or your BOTD bar that would be a welcome change. That way we're not having to hold GK till after a WT or FC to squeeze in that third Nastrond. Just raising that skill ceiling that much higher for a relatively tiny 900+ potency over 30s.

Made me feel like trying other classes when I got to cap mine to 70, now I'm enjoying Samurai, but crossing fingers for some developer nod to the current "state" of Dragoons

For the analysis on the last page, I'm pretty sure our piercing debuff also effects RDM's rapiers as well.

I could be wrong, so take this with a grain of salt, but I'm pretty sure piercing only affects RDM's non-enhanced melee weaponskills, making it completely useless.

ill echo chamber what people have said. Nastrond really is the issue. I find with susano extreme i dont get to use in phase 1 or i get 1 hit of it, and then by the time the sword fights start my bar is gone. its frustrating to just lose everything to that RP in the boss fight while Red Mages aren't losing anything.

I love dragoon, but I have a 50 ninja and 59 red mage and i may swap. we will see. I hope dragoons get some minor love. I don't want us to be top, but we should be better than we are.

That all being said. We have some insane burst. If you can time Nastrond and mechanics don't screw you, you can pop cooldowns and really go hard for the 15-30seconds to get your 3-4 Nastronds off and the rest of your rotation. Dragoon feels like its 80 seconds of ramp up and then the big pay off.

Playing rdm, nin and drg, it's extremely frustrating to see how their secondary resources don't fall off, don't have to be spent immediately without overflowing, and are generated without being tied to damaging offgcds. DRG really got shafted on this.

I also can't say I agree about the payoff of nastrond. Its burst is much weaker than what the a lot of the other dps classes can put out, to the point I feel like it's one of the most disappointing aspects of SB DRG. Nastrond and lotd feels so limp.

if i nastrond with B4B, Dragon Sight, and Battle Litany up I will jump to the top of the meter.... after those 30 seconds i settle right back down at 3rd/4th. I have my full right side from Lak extreme so I do decently but in farm groups im easily the lowest and I doubt getting the weapon will change that too much.
