Should we be limited to only one craft class?

Agreed in that scene but your taking it out of context using only 1/2 the paragraph.

In most mmo's you cant level all the skill to craft everything on one character.
Which is what makes it different here as you can.
So a crafter can do all the parts to do all the items by them self. (effectively the end game for a crafter).
A Dow/M cant play all the parts to clear a dungon/NM by themself.

No need to insult me but I think it computes more than in your head anyways. In a MMO setting, you should ALWAYS be in need of others for "special" things. You'd still be able to solo craft all your basic stuff if mastering =/= limiting the max rank, you'd have to rely on others for special crafts or group crafts. Which is what a MMO should be. You need to rely on other DoW/M to beat dungeons and end game events, why shouldn't you need to rely on others for advance crafting?

Stop saying I don't understand or that I fail to make connections in my head because I feel you are the one not grasping the spirit of a MMO.

whats up with all the limiting mindsets, MMOs should be about freedom of choice.

That is something that is nice, but that is not the essence of a MMO. Yes more freedom is a good thing, but there is nothing wrong is having to make some choice to better yourself in some areas you choose, it should even be expected in a MMO setting since you should be playing with others.

MMO is about community and bringing people together toward a common goal, it's not about letting people be everything and anythingwith no rules or limitations or consequenses to your choices.

wasn't this already sovled? isn't all crafts have some parts they need other crafts for? i guess in 1.19 it will change as the recipes change and make each craft much more independent which sucks.

is your 80 bucks worth more than my 80 bucks? Why is your vision of a MMO better than anyone else's? Also name me 1 successful MMO that you are not restricted in ANY way and that you are allowed to be just everything?

Restrictions is what makes you have to rely on others to complete common goals. Having to choose what you want to make of yourself is common in MMOs and while FFXIV is more open and has more freedom ultimately it would do some good to have to choose some specializations. MMOs are to play with others and defeat content together, why should crafters be shunned of the MMO concept?

No my 80 bucks paid for a game where we could be EVERYTHING and you pruchased that game. So yes in a since mine is worth more because i paid for something that was promised and given to me for a year.

Because it has not been done before that means it will fail? are you able to think outside of the box?
Square Enix is very capable.example? Final antasy 11 was the only MMO that allowed you to use every combat class on one toon. that was awesome. and frankly it was one of the main reasons people still play it 8 years later. I believe FF11 was also the first MMO to have a Aution House (could be wrong about that). Those ideas were fresh for the time and new and it worked. Lets give this a chance before we go ahhhh scrap it it sucks.

I think it might be a good idea to limit players to maybe 2 or 3 crafts, but limiting to just 1 is too much. Perhaps we could group crafts together into crafting "fields" ... like a field of study. Lots of crafts rely on others. For example, BSM relies on a lot of GLD items, so it would make sense for them to go together (and maybe ARM in there as well). Food and alchemy would go together nicely too. As would CRP, WVR, and tanner. the worst part of that idea would be that one group only has 2 crafts, but I don't know the system well enough to know which two should be grouped together out of the groups of three.

Or just let us have 2 crafts uncapped...

Crafts that are not our chosen path should be allowed to go to... say...50% or 60% of the max imo
