I dont see a problem. Early level raise/life spells and phoenix down have been around since the first FF title. Just because you get a raise doesnt mean you wont screw up against and get Brink of Death.

There will be those who view any spell level changes, where a lower than "original level" is granted the use of a certain spell as being "a slap in the face". To be honest, people should just consider that this game isn't done.. Its not in final form, so they shouldn't take it personally, or get so upset about them shuffling things around, especially when its been advertised that shuffling was going to happen. The "hard work" that has been done so far has been on grace and borrowed time really as none of us have paid a monthly subscription fee yet.
As a main whitemage who spent a great amount of time running around raising people in FFXI, I don't view this as an issue at all. The level 38's won't really lose anything except having a few less people making demands on their time.
The original level 38 will get the higher level of raise, and level 50 gets one even better than that one, which will still be the ones that people would rather have anyway. That and both the improved spells are exclusive to the conjurer as the main class which means people won't be able to be pugilists that can cast raise II.
Breathe people, it will be fine.
Good change dev team. Even more so with CON getting two exclusive raises that give them at least something over THM.
It doesn't make much sense to me to give the conjurer the high-level resurrect spells, since it is the thaumaturges, not the conjurers, who are seeking a means to bridge the gap between life and death. This new change to the battle/class system doesn't seem to fit well within the established mythos.
I mean, in this game world, the secrets of life and death are still unknown. Raise spells should be difficult to access, and really only accessible through the thaumaturge's guild at high ranks, as part of the guild story line.
What irks me aren't the changes themselves, but the incongruities they cause in the story.
The benefits or Rebirth far outweighs raise. Raising someone every 5 minutes isn't game-breaking, not to mention that they get afflicted with the weakness status. What is the slap in the face to conjurers? I'll take a rebirth over a raise any day.
FINALLY atleast another one gets the bigger issue here.
The "Raise" issues / "moaning" is nothing compared to this and it will show itself as soon as
the first party going inside trhe dungeon for 30min. 10minutes later this forum will flood
up with: "Wth why isnt there a Re-raise Spell for the Healer???" topics.
SOme of you people really REALLY should think abit further down the road.
And remember at the moment we dont have any "Re-raise" spells, pots or abilities whatsoever.
(Even thou, at some point like someone wrote we will get Phoenix Downs" or simmilar, but when we dont know.)
Some people apparently only played FF11
But why should anything in FFXIV be "regardless of story"? I can recall a time when SquareEnix was boasting that this was going to be the first story-driven MMO. Pfft. The story is already weak as it is, but now they're undermining their own mythology with stark changes to the battle system? I just don't like it.
Not to mention, I was digging the THM as White Mage/buffer/debuffer...the cone is so much better :P
I see no problem with the adjustments.
drastic change means drastic change.
