So, load into Bismarck EX, everyone says their hellos and chit chat, Healers get protects and stoneskins up, the DRG accidentally walks off the platform. Everyone facepalms, makes a couple jokes about EXTREME FLOOR TANKING! Then we all vote to jump off the edge and join our DRG pal in his floor tanking adventures. We all respawn, laugh, re-up everything and then proceed to steamroll Bismarck! :) Good times!

After mastering all "old" jobs, my next will be AST. Beware people! A new source for horror stories coming to the DF! Here's Joooohnnyyy....

So, I had an interesting Frontlines the other day. Start up as healer and first thing I notice is my framerate is pretty low. It only gets worse once I get into combat, dropping down to ~20 FPS according to Steam, with frequent stuttering and skips. I tell my party I'm lagging, and frantically try to look up why I'm lagging. Load up task monitor, nothing's hogging resources, panic for a bit while trying to at least keep regens up on people fighting, when I finally realize this is similar to trying on my laptop... which notoriously overheats. I download a temperature monitor for my PC, install it, and load it up (again, still trying to keep my party healed all through this), and check things out. Turns out my CPU is displaying 100 Celsius. I ping a computer savvy friend of mine to get his advice. Apparently that's pretty bad. So, my CPU is hot enough to boil an egg, the smart thing to do would be to turn it off immediately and take care of this shit. I'm not smart. I stick around to finish the run while the world melts around me.

Surprisingly, only died once and got in a close 2nd place.

EDIT: Just had another Frontlines run today. Managed to nab 2 kills on WHM. First was a DRK who used Living Dead, so my party ignored him after he hit 1 HP... so after it wore I just tossed an Aero on him for the kill. Second was a warrior who ran past us on a mount, so I tossed an aero on him for heavy as usual. He runs over to a cliff where a big ice is down below, and meanwhile I'm thinking "...he can't be serious can he?" He seemed to reconsider hopping down when I got there, so one Fluid Aura later he was laying at the bottom dead.

I'm not saying this was the case, but AST plays very differently if you have a parser. When you know who is top DPS, it makes the most sense to feed them all the damage cards.

Just ran Qarn hard mode. On that boss where you have to kill one of its parts that lights up, the dps killed every single limb but the one we needed. First time I figured, hey they must have missed which one it was, so second time around I marked it.

They killed my mark last.

The boss took forever.

Yes... they also completely refused to aoe. I mean the nin seemed inexperienced and was nice about it but the mch seemed to know what they were doing in single target at least and had no excuse. I didn't do mass pulls, needless to say.

Got three Germans on voice chat (got curious since none of them replied to my greeting) and their BLM's DPS was abysmal.
Was thinking to myself: "Should I comment on it? I don't wanna queue again :( "
I gave it a try and the tank replies:
"Ye, I'm noticing this every time."

????
Why don't you do something about it, then? Give him advice, link him guides, w/e?
From that point on I didn't bother anymore. I just wanted to finish the dungeon.

The guy had +260 gear and a 270 weapon. No excuses. :/

Yesterday a couple of static mates and I went into leveling roulette and got Halatali Normal.

Examining the other dps made me cough up blood.

He was wearing the Gae Bolg Atma...okay, okay...

Then the raptorskin gathering top, the gathering work gloves, crafting pants and shoes, and his jewelry was weathered tank, healer, and caster pieces.

The kicker was he had the "House Fortemps Knight" title.

We tried to talk to him about his gear, but all he said was he had his relic equipped for the dungeon, and he knew his gear was bad and was "planning on getting hunting seals gear later." He was on controller and typing in "say."

That was not the case here. I had the same ilvl sync as the other BLM, and the only difference in our DPS was due to the cards they got. From the very first pull, the AST was feeding them extended Balances and ignoring any Ewers or Spires they drew.

I queued up as DRK for level 50 roulette to level and got Keeper of the Lake. I'm doing the typical pulls I see every group do and we're having no trouble handling them, though I notice that my HP is sitting dangerously low even with me popping my cooldowns. I'm watching the AST standing there throwing out benefics at random times even with them not DPSing. I didn't pay much mind to it and everything went relatively smoothly until we got to the part with the two giants that are caged. Every group I've been in has never pulled the second area while fighting the first one. (I'm not against trying that, I just didn't trust the AST hahaha) So we're fighting the enemies in that area and my camera is facing in a direction where I can't see anyone else. I didn't notice the healer run to the second area to pull more mobs because I was eyeing my HP like crazy, so obviously the AST dies and we wipe. As we're running back I notice the AST is just standing still at the entrance. I was prepared for them to tell me to git gud, but they eventually grouped up with us without saying anything. There are still two enemies left from the last encounter, so I just pull those so we can finish them off before moving to the next area. The healer then starts spamming a macro that says something along the lines of "pull more, I'm getting tired over here" and then proceeds to pull the second area again. I take aggro but I don't go over to kill the device that releases the giant because the DPS are already AOEing and my HP was seriously dipping low. When they realized I wasn't going over to kill the device (I mean they could've done it on their own...) they started spamming their macro again and stopped healing me. Then he just spams dance emotes until we wipe. The MCH then pipes up and says "Then help us with DPS? Or at least be prepared for a big pull?" A vote kick pops up and the AST is booted out just like that. Even better was that AST was a mentor...

We finish clearing the enemies while we wait for a healer, but I eventually just requeue as WHM because it was taking too long. We clear up to the last boss without a tank and just as we get to the last boss a tank queues in. The fight is smooth sailing except when I interacted with the shield too early and it dropped right as the wipe mechanic happened hahaha. We all got a good laugh out of it and cleared successfully the next go around.

Started out like every run being a game of slap the native creatures and we got a bonus! Cant be too bad! Then we hit the first boss:

Turns out our alliance got a white mage that had no grasp on what mechanics are...They got slammed by the easy to dodge rock ring attack every time, stood on the web till they died and frustrated the other healer.

We move on to the next boss, they get gradual zombie at the right time! Theres faith!
After they get killed and I rez them its time for the next mega death....which they proceed to sit still healing them self excessively and then explode.


Next its time for our boy Ozma. The white mage (and a dragoon) proceed to immediately leap to their death.

It gets better: They ignored the instructions given at the start and lets Ozma's meteors drop on the party when they were targeted and when someone else was targeted they followed that person and stood there to get obliterated. Twice.

The not white mage part though was when we killed Ozma some people forgot to wait for him to finish dying so the jump pad could appear and I watched an alliance and a half fall to their death so that was fun!

The part that pains me was this part though: we reach the final boss and I see the mapping the realm achievement pop up but then the shock hit me.

The white mage didnt get it! They been through the dungeon before! This white mage who threw themselves from the arms of safety and into the jaws of death repeatedly had done this content before or at least reached the final boss.

Me and the other healer kinda just gave up rezzing them and let them tank the floor since they wanted it so bad.

AS12- A White Mage yells at me for not using cooldowns after getting killed by tank buster, and I know I used rampart at the time and my HP was less than 30%. It was after the stasis, gravity, and sacrement mechanic. How else would I survive it if hallowed ground was on cooldown? When we got to the final phase, he outright refused to heal the entire party because I used a tank lb for the holy bleed, despite the boss being at 25% HP and blames my static's alt ninja for the wipe, even though she did the mechanics correctly, so he pretty much rage quits after that. He must have not seen the whole final phase a lot, I guess probably because of the 15% echo, but it was still no reason for him to throw a tantrum like that.

Hey, if you don't catch them early, you wind up with DPS with ilvl 110 weapons in Sohm Al and healers with ilvl 170 weapons in Antitower. In a patch where both ilvl 120 and ilvl 230 weapons are easily and cheaply available.

My rez macro is "Rise and join my zombie army! >:3"
At the end of my latest weeping city, I was told "Well, you got a lot of zombies today".
That was at least 8 rezzes per boss, half of them on my co-healer. Except Ozma, surprisingly, where I only had to resurect the other healer once or twice, and maybe one other person.

I actually make a habit of checking gear in any dungeon below level 30. I've pointed quite a few people towards the hall of novice by telling them about the +xp ring ;)

Gubal HM run last night, one of the dps is a newbie and asks for directions on the 2nd boss. As we are getting ready to explain the WAR (who has been pulling one group of mobs at a time the entire dungeon) says "YOLO" and pulls and then tells us to chill out when we get angry with him. Why are people such pricks. -_-

LalaRu, did I say we kicked him? No, because we didn't. It was Halatali Normal. We tried to talk to him about his gear but he either didn't get what we were saying, or there was a communication barrier because he was on controller and not keyboard.

I always examine my party mates. I'm not sure why this is surprising. When I tank 24 mans, I look across other alliances and examine the other tanks. When I heal in 24 mans, I examine my co healer first.

What we were concerned about was a level 50 dragoon wearing crafting and gathering gear instead of his i90 relic armor. Which implied he hadn't even done his class quests.

So I am 100% not removing myself from blame here, because I did duty finder and got put into Steps of Faith without reading a guide. But wow.

I was kind of freaking out the whole time so I don't know who was really at fault the most, but only one other person was new, the rest were vets. But there was one poor soul who kept shouting in chat to stay under the dragon and then hit the adds with the cannons. I kept trying to run to the cannons to hit the adds but all the adds were all over the place. All three other DPS were on different parts of the bridge fighting one add at a time. I am not sure what the off tank was doing. Anytime I would get a chance I'd try to hit the adds with the cannon only to get hit by an AOE(The one that covers the entire front of the dragon?). I know I was messing up a lot in there too...

I think everyone died at least 3 times.

I'm really really sorry, whoever it was that was shouting. Truly. But really, what's so hard about reading the chat?

So probably not as bad as the Doctore's Fork in Aery example but still pretty bad in Hullbreaker Isle NM:

They had mostly 39-49 gear on the right side and a 49 weapon...

The WHM was just as bad with a 45 weapon and somewhat a somewhat bad side then again they were probably together...

It's just ok gear for fresh 50 leveling his main job. They don't have tons of tomes at that point.

This is all on the tanks. It's their job to keep the adds together and under the boss

Woe to the poor Bard who gets to witness a Dun Scaith run where NONE of the tanks have Awareness cross-classed.

I guess I bumped into someone who goes on the forums and spotted my post from the other day. I was doing a level 50 dungeon by myself and having a fairly average run, when it was over, while I was typing up "take care" one of the party members said they hope that my girlfriend and I have a good anniversary and quickly left.

So, I wanted to say thank you, kind stranger. I'm very sorry that I didn't have the chance to commend you or thank you in game. We did indeed have an amazing day (it was actually last month, I ordered my gift fairly late so we only received it recently). And thank you for giving me a nice story to share. I hope you see this post as well.

So last night I joined a Bismarck group to help some newbies get a clear on a whim, and managed to get the whistle that dropped after joining farm groups for weeks. Apparently that stroke of luck leeched all of today's luck, because it's been... well.

Zurvan Farm Attempt #1: It was just... very, very slow and awkward. The tank seemed to be made of paper so there was no hope of stance dancing, and during the latter phase DPS just kept standing there for Wave Cannon and Southern Cross, so unsurprisingly, we go down like a pack of dominoes. After a few more runs like this, I give up.

Zurvan Farm Attempt #2: Turned out to be Sophia... I'm 90% certain this said Zurvan birb farm, but oh well, I can do Sophia too. Or not. DPS are flying off from Aero, running towards the blue tether, tanks don't swap and get annihilated... I ask if this is a farm, and apparently it's a clear for their friend. I stay to help them out, but evidently "clear" meant "carry" and "friend" meant "half the group." It was obvious none of them knew what they were doing, so I left.

Weeping City Attempt #1: Slow. Very, very slow, but the crap fest doesn't kick in until Ozma. The other alliances are messing up in imaginative new ways, my co-healer doesn't know what a raise is and sleeps through most of it, our BLM drop meteors next to us, another DCs, while the others go off to "help" the other groups because they "have no DPS." This goes on for about four wipes, until I point out they're really just screwing with raid mechanics and getting us all killed. The group gets very defensive, and I'm met with a black screen; turns out my entire alliance was from the same FC, which explains a lot. Just grateful to finally be out without a penalty, I move on to...

Zurvan Farm Attempt #3: Why? Because I hate myself, that's why. "Clear for a friend and then farm." No problem. We start off with my co-healer dying to the first set of fire circles... okay, maybe they're the newbie. No problem. Things rapidly head south however when Zurvan hits Soar and he's only at 83%; I was out-DPSing the DRG, who I realised was the proud owner of a Makai weapon. Circles then get overlapped, we all die. Take 2 doesn't go much better; DPS is still craptacular, (82%!) but we survive Soar... only for my co-healer to run into the AOE with their marker and kill us all.

To the party I had in Sohr Kai I would like to apologize. I have no excuses for not noticing that I had cleric stance on. I should of noticed, I ran ast during HW story and have ran it in dozen of dungeons.

Oh boy here we go, this just happened. So I'm leveling WAR and I'm a new tank. I go into Cutter's Cry. Right away there is a MCH with a wizard hat and other weird gear and he says "Still getting gear please be patient." Okay, weird but whatever. Everything goes okay but I notice the WHM keeps letting me die and like only casting regen on me when my HP is low. In the next room the MCH runs over to a chest and pulls like 6 mobs, kills us and logs off completely. WHM says kick me bro. Me and the MNK say, no. He says "No? Ok" I know what's going to happen. A DRG comes in. I pull the next pack. Healer lets us die like I thought. DRG says something about it and he says "Oh he wants to be kicked? Don't kick him I've got the time." So after the WHM tries to kill us some more times, he finally leaves and I told the DRG what happened cos he was confused. Then we got an AST and finally a party of normal people.

The only thing I KNOW I didn't do that well was the princess ant boss, but I did get agro pretty quickly on all the adds and I was keeping hate the whole dungeon so not sure if he wanted to leave because I was bad, because I had that happen to me twice before as a tank.

Sounds to me like he was just a lazy jerk with no patience for new players, which unfortunately is just something that happens in the duty finder on occasion. As someone who normally tanks the one thing I could point out-

In my experience, if the healer is competent at all, the tank does not aggro the princess's adds. Instead, the healer throws a HoT on the tank while the tank keeps the boss in the middle of the room and they themselves run to the wall, kiting all of the adds with them via healer-aggro. The princess isn't that difficult on her own, she doesn't have that much HP and she hits like a limp noodle, but some of the adds that spawn just spam heals on her. They also despawn when she dies, so kiting them out of range of her makes the fight much, much faster. It's a common strategy and most of the people I run into already know it, but to be on the safe side I usually double check that the healer is cool with kiting and knows what to do before I pull.

.__. So I'm leveling one of my alts, a SCH and I decided to just run Aurum Vale.

I guess that was my first mistake.

The queue is quick, but we don't make it to even the first pull before there is a problem.

No one leaves... >>; I wish they would have though.

The tank stops before pulling says something about one of the DPS' gear. The DRG.

I look at them and I laugh. Their whole left side, cept weapon and belt is ALL level 1 glamour gear.

We ask them to change. The tank mentions they don't want to carry them. As healer, whom is just barely geared well enough, I quickly agree.

They pull out their spear and insist that their DMG is fine.

...

We all just stand their and suddenly the toad mob gets too close and aggros.

It takes just one hit to take this DRG down to less than 25%...

We deal with this pull, and then insist that they change.

I examined them some more and notice they have EIGHT jobs to 60. So I mention they should know better.

Their retort is they do it all the time.

At this point its obvious they are not switching... and Well... I couldn't kick them quick enough.

I'll carry someone that is trying, I'll carry someone that is just bad, if they make the effort. I will not carry someone that just doesn't care.

Today was just full of absolute shit.

2 Wiping Shitty runs. Features:

- Wiping to Forgall twice in 1 run. First because people weren't killing the zombie Talons and letting them explode. Second because people apparently forgot how to silence Beguiling Mist.

- A typical dumbass of a DRG dropping meteors on Ozma leads to a wipe. On the second try, a typical dumbass of a SMN casting Shadowflare leads to an alliance A healer gettting locked out.

1 Expert Roulette, Sohm Al Hard. Features:

- 2 wipes - count 'em, two - to the Lava Scorpion. Twice in a row, typical dumbass DRK lets the set of 4 adds kill the healer. What should've taken no more than 20 minutes at the very most, ends up taking over half an hour.

1 Trial Roulette, Bismarck normal. The cherry topping on the shit sundae. Features:

- 3 wipes. On the first two wipes, the WAR gets knocked off as soon as the first set of adds spawn.

- SCH refuses to put up any shields or even Succor for Bismarck's ultimate, and continues spamming heals in Cleric Stance despite multiple people in chat telling them to take it off. BRD plays Mage's Ballad for them when they start running low on MP. I have no idea why.

- The WAR who got knocked off two wipes in a row decides to be an annoying backseat driver in general. During the second attempt, demands a healer LB3 when the bars are full. When I point out that it won't ress him, writes "Are you sure?" in the most obnoxious manner possible. For some reason, the WHM obliges and wastes it anyway, when we had the Corona exposed by that point and could've used that LB3 on it.

- On the 3rd attempt, the SCH D/Cs, leaving the WHM to solo heal. Miraculously, the WAR somehow fails to pull off a knockoff hattrick and actually stays on. Of course, it all goes to hell shortly after the sanuwas spawn, as neither of the tanks manage to actually do their jobs and end up getting the WHM killed.

- "Solo healing isn't hard anyway," claims the typical dumbass WAR who only has AST at level 60.

- WHM has to leave, and we have to replace them and the SCH. We get a new WHM and AST. We finally clear it after the 4th try. What should've taken less than 10 mins, again, takes over half an hour to clear.

- "Is the DPS that bad?" the new WHM asks, upon finding out the issues we've been having.

... I'm sorry, what? We DPS have been busting our asses off to carry these dumbass tanks and healers through this hellhole, and you're going to automatically blame us for this? There needs to be an animation to literally knock some bloody sense into someone.

Did you know Acceleration Bomb is still active after Ozma dies? This poor BLM found out the hard way when she dropped dead after the fight. Never saw that before and was cracking up.

Sounds like the SCH I had in Steps of Faith last week for trial roulette. Fairly sure their faerie was on auto too. They really need to split SCH and SMN. While I enjoy having a class that can be both dps and heals the number to times I've had a SCH co-healer who doesn't know how to use aldo, succor, or lustrate, and appears to have their pet on auto is frustrating. People can say, oh but solo healing is easy. Sure it's not hard in most content but why not fill that spare slot with an actual dps especially when the dps queues are set to skyrocket in SB.
