The hairs we have in-game do fit, and modders have shown that they can fit. That's how we know. Modding may work outside SE's rules, but at least they show us what works vs what doesn't when stuff is implemented.

Regarding Jack's hair specifically I didn't include it in the no-brainer list because it's so voluminous at the front that I have a suspicion it might hide most of Hrothgar ear models inside its poof, which may look a bit funky. Sort of like "Curls" on Miqos (soon to be even more bizarre on Viera, lol.) Perhaps there's a mod out there that disproves my concerns.

I think if they can implement it EXACTLY like this, it will look great. But it needs to fit like this one with the hair faded in front of each ear.

If they implement it like that, that'd be interesting... but odds are they won't. But ears clip through current hairs as it is, Jack's wouldn't be that big a problem.

Hmm, honestly that does look a little bit funky with the ear clipping directly through slicked back strands of hair, but it's not as bad as I was expecting if I don't look at it too hard (a bit like a few Viera hairs with bangs, lol.) Imho it would look a lot more natural if the hair was shaved to make way for the ear, but there's about a 0 sum chance of them doing that extra bit of work so this is 99.9% what we'll end up getting in game complete with the extra texture where the ears pop out of the hair.

Ironically there's much worse than this on the current hairstyles. Like, I fully understand it looks weird seeing stuff pop out. But back when they full-on chopped off our ears, a lot of people did say "just let it clip". Because we'd rather have a tiny nub sticking out than nothing whatsoever, especially on hairstyles where the clipping either made sense or didn't look as bad. So it's a compromise some people, myself included, are okay with.

Of course, IF they manage to make things work and not have the clipping be as evident, then it'd be really good. But Square has shown zero interest in doing that sort of work, so we take what we can get. Rather that than removal of facial features entirely.

Oh, absolutely. And this is a problem that plagues all three races with ears, Miqos included. Their ears just happen to be a bit smaller and more surreptitiously positioned on their heads. Almost all their hairs, including their racial default hairs, have ears clipping through growing strands of hair if you look hard enough. Same goes for Viera and their racial hairs, male and female. Thus is the fate of races with animal ears in a game where the default always has to be humans first.

Hell, not even FFXII is immune to hair clipping, and that was the game with the first real 3D renders of Viera. This is probably one of the reasons Fran even wears a helmet at all. All the Vieras have ears smack dab on top of their hairstyles. If the game wasn't from like 2006 (still looks really good btw - amazing game, props to FFXII) we would clearly be able to see all the clipping.

I feel like this thread needs assessing on what it's meant to convey now.

• Hrothgar and Viera have started getting some hairstyles
• Hrothgar ears have regrown
• Viera have a male counterpart and Hrothgar female is on its way

Though, and this might just be me, some stuff do still feel unadressed. With more or less relevance

• Headgear is still a hot topic with some new entries not having any adaptation for these races
• Communication on both races seems to be a bit on the lacking side. Hrothgar feel especially hard by this, given how the development team has proven itself disconnected from its fanbase for a while and how little feedback there generally is about Hrothgar specifically.
• Viera hairstyles give them an obscenely large forehead. Don't know how you guys feel about that tbh.
• Hrothgar hunchback is generally considered a bad addition, with very niche support for it; most people would rather it went away
• Portrayal of these races has been very hit-or-miss, either lacking in the spotlight or just relegated to a forgettable background. Though these aren't the only races to suffer from this. It's just jarring because they're the two latest races overall.

I don't know, it just feels that right now a major component of this thread has been addressed. And though not everyone feels at ease (especially given tensions the past year), it's still a decent enough step in the right direction.

Question is if all the rest will be addressed.

Does the Hrothgar posture cause armor warping/tearing? They changed the male Viera slouch/pot belly with a quickness between benchmark and release for a similar reason.

Apologies for bad grammar, I am on the phone rn.

The hunch is looking very bad in a lot of glams (if not all), the texture wrapping is stretched a lot to the point that it has an ugly pixelationon on the back and it doesn't look any better on the front where it is verry obviously squished around the abdominal area. All hairstyles (if they are not very very short) clip through every chestpiece if it has a collar.
You won't hear/see me complain if they remove the hunch.
I feel it was added because it was popular with the western devs to add hunches with beast races, i say the devs cause the players in 98%of the cases hated it. The other 2% that was liked was when it made sense to add a hunch (like Charr). If your character will run by dropping on all 4's then it is accepted as a feature rather than an empty aesthetic. Which is where the FF devs saw the hunch on beast races and were like "ok, hunch=beast, got it!", but forgot to make it work by using the hunch to their advantage rather than for looks. Even the source material (the Ronso) had a straight back because they were supposed to walk and run like humans.

Tl Dr: Just get rid of the hunch, please.
