First Kill of Hesperos Savage. Day 1...
About two months ago I was progging P4s. I was at CC going to kill and during those days i was struggling to find a party that was good enough to complete the duty.
There were moments I waited 3/5 hours per party before we could fill up and when we were able to find all the players we needed, eventually we ended up disbanding after few memes pulls.
Those days have beed really hard and i was keeping repeating to myself that patience and endurance are the virtues of the strongest.
One evening I found the only party avaible. It was an "ACT4 on going" I was a WAR with nothing else but my despair and hope to figh each other.
Once in there, I asked to my cotank, a DRK.
"I'm going to inv the 1st and 3rd. What do you prefer to do on the 2nd tb?"
"I'll voke during the cast bar of the second" they replied to me.
"Uhm..." I thought.
"Are you not using your inv there so?" I asked to be sure.
"Why?" they said to me "Why should I use an inv when I can take almost no damage if I use all my defensive cd there?"
I was like "maybe cus...pressing one button is better than pressing all" but I dindn't replied back.
I just said "Fair enough. I dont play DRK. If you are fine in this way, so I'm".
We started.
First Pull, first mechanic. All good. No deaths, no weird placements, no weirds adjustments.
Pinax time. Everything was nicely done.
Also, the second tb was handled preatty well.
Indeed, the DRK took almost no damage and I for once didnt have to adjust my MT position on stack/spread.
My eyebrowns strecthed in a motion of surprise and my mind started to elaborate that risky thought "Maybe..."
But it wasn't finished yet.
After orbs and towers that malicious thought came up in my mind "No deaths so far, dps is good, maybe.."
Second Pinax. Unbelivable all went good.
We killed that fucking Vampire at the first try on the first pull within 6 minutes!
I was like "What the fuck? Am I dreaming?"
In all those months I've never seen a party kill Hesperos at the first try, nor at the second or third.
But, the fight wasn't over.
We had to deal with the second phase...and it wasn't good as the first.
Altough it was an ACT4 ongoing it took us 5 hours and three resets to reach that point.
One of the most astonish thing that I recall is that even if it took them a lot to have a good understanding about how ACT2 and ACT3 work, once they learnt how to do them they were able to perform that mechanic perfectly everytime.
Another one was that whenever we had to reset and restart from Phase 1, it was always a one shot. No memes. No deaths.
In those 5 hours of prog I forgot that I originally had joined for an ACT4 ongoing and I was focused only to help them to get over ACT4, because I knew that party had all the qualities to kill Phase 2.
We didnt, at the end. It was late. People was starting to meme basics. Understandable. I left with some bitterness in my heart. I knew I wasn't able to find another party like that....
First Kill of Hesperos Savage. Day 2...
The day after I started my search again.
After a few hours I found a party of a person who did those amazing 5 hours with me the night before.
I joined as a tank, at least I knew I could trust one person there.
With my surprise I found others of the night before. Almost everyone apart for a dps and a healer.
The last spot empty was a tank.
A bunch of minutes later they came. The same DRK fo the night before.
Party chat turned like we were old friends meeting after years.
I recall when I asked to them how we'd handle the tbs (with months it had turned into something like a rite phrase) they answered me:
"Oi boy, by now you should know how we manage these".
Everyone was on fire.
We knew we could kill it. That day, that party.
So we did.
Three hours later we were in the middle of that arena along that fucking bastard Vampire kneeling on the ground and the fun fact is..i didnt immediatly realize we killed him.
I just saw the screen turning black, me saying "whut...no we were not dead" and my buddy watching the stream replaying to me "You did it, bugger. You have killed that bastard".
And I almost cried when my brain connected everithing.
After months I closed myself in PF finally I was able to find good gamers.
People that dind't complain for other's mistakes.
People that were capable to overcome their weakness, to learn from their mistakes.
People which quality cannot be measured by a number and a color rather by their attitude and endurance; those qualities are above 100.
So far I've met a lot of player's types. From super toxic casual player to the super toxic parsers one but rarely I've met good people. Ofc I'm not saying that there are not good people around just they are a rare thing to find but once you find them you can expect that you are going to have one of the most memoral run in your XIV experience.
...and it was the only party that was able to kill Hesperos before the end of CC.
Never met a kill party that could re attempt such deed, so far.
PF is a coffer full of tresures...with a bad RNG.
