It's the best thing he can do, since when trolls see their tactics to keep him out of the game are not working they'd give up and go back to afking in Limsa or RPing.

Just what I was saying. I wouldn't be surprised if there are FFXIV players intentionally trying to make his gameplay experience as bad as possible so wants to leaves the game. For that matter, he'd probably have problems whether he streamed or not, once his character name got out there.
The XIV community screams in anxiety as it's toxic to you.
The question here becomes...who is who? Like, how many of the griefers are doing it because he badmouthed FFXIV so much, how many are WoW players with secret FFXIV accounts trying to start crap, how many are there because they're just fans of him, etc? It's going to be hard to lay the blame on a single source here.
Are they doing it because they're part of the FFXIV community, or are they doing it because they are part of the Asmongold community?
That sort of thing is what the Asmongold community does all the time in WoW. That why so many players have been expressing reservations about his decision to come to FFXIV if he was going to come to stream it.
Asmongold invited them to follow him here. He's not dumb. He knew what the outcome would be. He invited it because it would increase views and that increases the money he earns from his stream. He can feed his head cannon about how terrible FFXIV is this way when it's not FFXIV at fault.
It's his own stream and the community he nurtured at fault.
It's hilarious how many people fail to see the bigger picture. We are currently in content drought for the next 4 months, and subs had already plummeted. Asmongold coming to the game and bringing a lot of new players is the best thing that could happen right now. Maybe that sudden additional sub money income will allow SE to let male bunny boys use hats. Limsa RPers should actually be helping him out by logging out instead of staying logged in AFKing.
One good thing happened today. He tried to start on my server but it wasn't accepting new characters.
Prevented the mess that Cactuar is dealing with now.
Just glad it's not on my server...
All of ya'll being kill stealing griefers and making it harder for him to kill quest mobs, if you are on the forum: stop it! It makes our community look crap when you do that.
I've been suspecting this for a while now...but you're one of his diehard fans, aren't you? I've been seeing a lot of commentary from you that comes across as white knighting (not to say it is) and you seem to take his side on everything. If you are one of his fans...then please encourage him to make another character without streaming or letting anybody know the name/server/data center. It's going to be better for him in the long run (both for his mental state and his ability to play) if he has a hidden character since he can experience the game without a constant influx of people hovering around him or messing with him.
Since he submitted a ticket, we'll hopefully see a GM clamp down soon on the people legitimately harassing him.
Who am I is neither here nor there. The facts are he is now a FFXIV player and people are griefing him ingame and defamating him in forums, so GMs better step up and start enforcing the community rules.
Him making a new secret character is a pointless since when he starts streaming raids his name will be visible and the toxic harrasment will resume.
This got to the point the Aether Hunt Train server has to warn about it, Cactuar Limsa was on a sort of permanent lock down, world hop queue was very big etc. I really want him to enjoy but he should have started the character off stream, got himself aquatinted with how it works, then finally start when ready. Kinda disappointed at players harassing him too.
The point was to have a solid starting point. Obviously he's going to stream himself raiding, but he still needs to *get* to the raids. Whether he starts with BCoB or waits until Ultimates (and their unlocks) or Eden, he has to get there, and it's easier if he doesn't have a swarm of people following him.
Though I *kinda* want to see him unlocking the Ivalice Raids with people joining him. Red Chocobos were a blast and I want to see it again.
Unlocking it on alts just isn't the same...
The release of Endwalker is going to be a mess if SE doesn't do some serious upgrades.
Also, somehow people is surprised of toxicity? And in the passive-agressive Cactuar server? Well, actually it would be the same most likely everywhere.
I feel bad for him honestly the commnunity doing this while he's actually trying to learn and enjoy FFXIV is just horrible.
How does one grief a player in a raid instance unless you're in the same party/Alliance? No one can send him tells, spam him with friend requests, etc. when he is in an instanced duty.
His name doesn't have to be visible at all. initials are an option. World can be hidden via Character Customization HUD options.
There are so many ways to avoid what's happening right now. He was actually warned by other content creators on how to avoid this mess. He chose not to listen.
He's not stupid, he knows how his community behaves. He encourages it because he makes money from it. He's got no one to blame but himself.
If the GMs take any action, it's going to be because of other normal players having their game experience disrupted by the presence of his stream. Asmongold is far more likely to get tossed into the gaol for deliberately provoking the situation. That might be a good thing. Let his character sit in the gaol a couple of days while his viewers get bored and drift away to do other things. Then he can get smart, stop streaming, make a new character and enjoy the game.
Won't be any more of a mess than Shadowbringers launch was. They'll have the zones expected to be congested instanced again. Even East Shroud had been instanced for Shadowbringers launch because they knew a lot of players would be unlocking GNB.
