Thanks for clarifying. Is there a guide how much surveillance I need for certain items?

I have looked all over, but I cannot find a solid answer on my own....
What would be a good to great end game 4 sub build? I currently have a CUWC and SSSS. I'd like to at least hit the otters and/or kamacite. What would be a good plan to make the parts for the later subs?
It's mostly me doing it, so I'd like to refrain from too many overlapping parts.
It is 130 Surveillance for Kamacite. I've personally confirmed this with the CCWC build as it's the Kamacite Farming build i use for 4 of my subs.

i'm not sure i'm going to bother with trying for any kamacite. just got my 3rd otter to sell mmmm gillll lol
Ok, so. I see that 130 surv is needed for kamacite and below and 145 for otters. However, just a few posts before said that CCWC (130 surv) is enough to get otters. Am I missing something?
As an answer to my own question. It seems that a fleet will be mostly CCXC (x=anything, really), so dynamic parts will not be a thing like in airships. Anything not that will have too low of retrieval or speed, so it will take forever or not get enough of anything to make the trip worth it, or both.
Is a fleet like this good?:
CCYC
CCWC
CCWC
CUWC
We finally managed to get an otter with a 170 surveillance sub with 105 favor. Now I'm trying to figure out how to upgrade our 3 other subs, because all of them have low stats and keep bringing back garbage that doesn't have much value, which makes sending them out pointless. Our second sub has Syldra-C-C-Shark, which nets us 130 retrieval, but it would need more surveillance.
Do I have to fix the submarines every time before I send them out? Even though they are only used once and have only a little bit worn out. The reason is that even if it is 99% good condition, the mission sometimes still says due to the condition the second roll will not happen. If I have to fix them every single time, then the consumption of the dark matter materials will be very high. Or is the unable to have the second roll due to the condition of the submarines completely RNG?
The data I collected says that condition of the sub doesn't matter at all. I haven't found anything that players can do to change the number of misses the sub gets on the second anomaly. As far as I can tell it's a flat percentage that depends on the sector, so the message about "sub condition" seems to be meaningless.
If you have a botanist or miner retainer leveled to 50, they can go out and fetch Dark Matter Clusters for you, by the way.
Happy to hear that. Using13 repairing mats each time to send out a sub is not possible for me. Lol
Have any other sectors come back with Colossus Slab or is it just Neolith Island?
Kamacity ore will come eventually but just takes time...
what is the success rate of Abroader Otter for you guys? I sent out my eight subs out 4 times a week for two weeks now, and got 2 so far. so the chance is like 2/64, around 3%. Same impression?
Quoting myself from a couple pages back:
Quote:
Looking at just the return on Abroader Otters, my subs found a total of 454 anomalies, of which 92 were CSCFIFFE on the second try. That means my subs got 362 chances to roll on otters, of which 7 were successful, for an overall drop chance of 2% per anomaly. I got 50 "Clear & Calm" weather results on the first anomaly (22%), and 21 "Clear and Calm" on the second anomaly (9%), for a total of 71 "Clear & Calm" results on all attempts (16% of total.) Of the 50 Clear & Calm results on the first anomaly, six produced otters, for a drop rate of 12%, and for the 21 Clear & Calm on the second anomaly, 1 produced an otter, a 5% drop rate. The overall drop rate from all Clear & Calm weathers was 10%.
Overall conclusion: the drop rate on Abroader Otters is terrible and there's not much we can do about it.
Will a 115 favor have a second anomaly? I am thinking about building some CCWCs.
Any idea about the requiement on Surv. for the DoL/DoH materia VIs in Rimilala Trench Bottom? Will 130 be enough?
This thread is sooo long but i saw that CWCC can help get the otter minion? is this still true?
Stats:
Surve: 175
Retr: 40
Speed: 50
Range: 110
Favor: 90
My records have the following builds as confirmed able to find abroader otters: (S= Shark, Y=Syldra)
CCYC
CYYY
CYYC
CUSC
CUUC
CWSC
CCCC
UUUC
CWCC
CYCY
The one thing about your build is that you will only get one shot at an otter per trip. If you bump your Favor stat to 105 you have two chances per trip.
Thank you for your answer. It seems easy enough to build (I can't get Kamacite Ore yet, so no Syldra parts yet).
But I've read that you need 145 surveillance to get the otter minion. I don't absolutely need to be able to get it, especially if it's the only item you need so high surveillance for. I searched the thread and multiple sources say 130 is not enough to get it though, but Kamacite can drop if you have only 120 surveillance (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...20#post4897693).
Has anyone gotten the minion with 130 surveillance?
And does anyone know what surveillance you need to get the blue and green crystal boules? I wanted them for a long time now but they are really expensive on the market board.
Is there also minimum surveillance you need for "normal" items, instead of Kamacite Ore and the otter? Or does it not matter for normal items?
RNG. There's strong evidence that higher Surveillance leads to better odds of unlocking new sectors, but it's hard to thoroughly test it since it's not something that can be repeatedly tested by us since it... you know... unlocks.
Just keep at it. It'll unlock eventually.
For the blue/green crystal boules, it appears that 155 is the minimum surveillance to add them to the loot table. As AuricSeagard mentioned he's gotten plenty with CUYC, and in my experience I get plenty of purple but NO green/blue from CCYC (150 surv).
Thank you both. FINALLY some numbers that are really helpful. ^^
Everyone is like "get 145 surveillance for that stupid otter" when asking what surveillance you need for various rare items. So I take days to gather stuff and then hours to craft everything only to get a ship that can get like extremely high surveillance but doesn't have enough range to get to Sunken Vault because that damn otter only needs like 40 or whatever. And if it gets enough range then favor is too low. Whatever. More crafting then. It's just so annoying that everyone seems only to think in otters and kamacite when it comes to submersibles.
I'll just have to make all parts except for Syldra parts and hope I can get enough. Currently I have all Shark and Unkiu parts, 3 Coelacanth (no stern), 2 whale (bow and that usless hull I made for leveling faster). I need so much more Darksteel Ore again...
I just went like two weeks without discovering a zone only to discover Deep-Site 6 and The Wreckage of the Headway in the same run using CCWC and had the WUUW sub come back a few hours later having discovered the Rimilala Shelf and the Glittersand Basin. The same CCWC sub has discovered everything else except the remaining level 50 sites and Concealed Bay (which was being stubborn, so I moved on). Your CWSC build has more surveillance than either of mine, so there shouldn't be anything stopping you from discovering it.
For what it's worth, I discovered all of the last 6 zones using my sub with all shark parts. It didn't take more than 4 trips for any of them.
It's pure rng.
I dont see it anywhere but has anyone made a table for all rare items or whatever items for their requirements to be able get them? I want to get Otter, kamacite etc etc so was hoping to see some information based on what i need to build to get such items. this thread is so long so was hoping it might be somewhere XD
Not lazy i swear
Any have a good build for getting the rarer items in the newest sectors? I'm working on updating the subs for my FC before ShadowBringers for something to do
In my opinion, the CUSyC submarine is the best general-purpose submarine for rare-item collecting. It has 155 surveillance (minimum required for finding those blue/green boules) and 140 favor (enough to get up to 2 attempts per sector for every sector). The speed is respectable at 75. The retrieval is kinda low, so it's not great at hauling back the kamacite ore, but if you're after the boules, plundered treasures, salvaged coin, undersea spoils, colossus slabs, marine wax esters, and abroader otters (though for otters only, you should be CUUC), the CUSyC is the sub for you.
I'm inclined to agree with this sentiment. Testing this fit out compared to the CCSyC fit yields results that are a bit more advantageous with regards to common farming routes. Considering the extra range that CUSyC gains and the inclusion of the extra Surveillance to acquire the two new Boules, I'll be refitting my own ships to this setup.
CCSyC
Route 1: Neolith Island (I) > Deep-Sea Site 3 (E) > Deep-Sea Site 7 (W) = 1 Day, 18 Hours, 47 Minutes
Route 2: Deep-Sea Site 7 (W) > The Rimilala Shelf (V) = 1 Day, 22 Hours, 53 Minutes
Route 3: Flickering Dip (Y) > The Rimilala Shelf (V) = 2 Days, 3 Hours, 39 Minutes
CUSyC
Route 1: Deep-Sea Site 7 (W) > Sunken Vault (AD) > Stone Temple (AC) = 3 Days, 1 Minute
Route 2: Neolith Island (I) > Deep-Sea Site 3 (E) > Deep-Sea Site 7 (W) = 1 Day, 20 Hours, 50 Minutes
Route 3: Deep-Sea Site 7 (W) > The Rimilala Shelf (V) > Flickering Dip (Y) = 2 Days, 21 Hours, 40 Minutes
Route 4: Deep-Sea Site 7 (W) > The Rimilala Shelf (V) > The Wreckage of the Headway (Z) = 2 Days, 20 Hours, 57 Minutes
Route 5: Deep-Sea Site 7 (W) > Sunken Vault (AD) > The Wreckage of the Headway (Z) = 2 Days, 23 Hours, 7 Minutes
Side Note: I'm heavily biased towards a ship fit that will give me voyages closer to a 24 hour interval.
Does anyone know what the minimum surveillance is for getting the Salvaged Coinage from the Wreck of the Headway site? I've been sending four subs with 150 surveillance and 105 Favor just to that one spot over and over for about a month now and not seen a single one. In the same amount of time I saw 2 Abroader Otters before I started focusing solely on getting that coin, which I need two of to even make the bag of booty! There were two coins on the MB before the world transfer BS wiped every coin off of every market on the datacenter, and now I couldn't buy the coins even if I wanted to pay 100mil for each one. Add to the fact that the TOTAL amount of coins ever sold on the entire data center was only 10, most of which came from balmung, and I am looking at never completing my alchemy crafting log.
So yeah, what's up with the Salvaged Coinage? Anyone got one at 150? I have one sub at 155 surveillance, and it has never brought one back either.
What kind of materia returns are people seeing from "Sector 28 (AB)The Rimilala Trench Bottom" in terms of stack size and amounts?
If it's only like 2 per mission, it's really not worth it.
Does anyone have exact detail on how to unlock all 4 submarines? can't seem to find any info
1st: no requirement
2nd: Unidentified derelict
3rd: ???
4th: ???
