I just came here to add that I'm now cursed with the black screen. Played normally yesterday, now my game does not go past the "play" green button of the launcher. Read everything from this thread and nothing work, I did not manage to find a way to switch to dx9, so I am not sure if it is that. I hope that after the 14th everything goes back to normal. :(

Oh there is an emergency maintenance today, the 14th. I tried to restore the configurations from my launcher and download all the patches again and it worked. I seriously do not know what triggered that bug, but I hope I do not get stuck in any black screen again. It is so weird, because it behaved exactly like the bug described here: black screen after hitting play in the launcher, no way to close the game without task manager and it came from nowhere. Also, I am a Steam user, so it checked all the boxes. I honestly thought that the issue was with Steam and not in the patches, because I played the game Saturday, when the bug started on Sunday. I really hope someone from SE manages to find out the root of this, because I am now starting to think we might be haunted or something XD
