While I agree the person u were talking about is a jerk, also when it comes to newbies or people 1st time in stuff or even people 5th time I'm stuff but are trying to learn I am always nice to them, even if they screw up and it cause a wipe or some other bad thing.

But in my old outdated way of looking at things I wouldn't report someone cause they said mean stuff, I'd just tell em to STFU, troll them or ignore em while putting them on my blacklist, I'd only report someone for stalking, hacking or some other majorly game breaking thing, you guys need to not report everyone cause they said bad things, that's just lame, but that's my opinion.

A lot of what I say will be beating a dead horse, but nontheless, I thought I would say it, and my take.

I think it's important to know that, the forums are a small portion of the playerbase (Im sure you know), as most don't even touch the thing. Discord as well, ect. I wouldn't judge the community based on what you see here on the forum, although I do agree with some people as to what constitutes as harassment. As in, telling people to get better, and then trying to help them find their way to get better wouldn't constitute as harassment. That being said, Telling someone to get better is not harassment either, it's just a statement that gives no leads or hows to get better.

In any community, you will find bad apples, and in larger communities, it doesn't happen nearly as often (I came from a small community game, I would know zzz), because once you leave the dungeon, you prob wont ever see em again, at least not much.

I think you just met with a few of em. I've been playing since mid Heavensward, around Midas patch if you know it. In the time I've been playing, you do see the 1 or 2 really bad players, or the 1 or 2 really mean players. But a majority of the time? In end game dungeons, people are quiet. Maybe a few hellos, a few thank yous, that kind of stuff.

In end game content, people try to communicate and coordinate. Usually it goes well. 70 - 80?% of the time. At least from my experience, it feels that way. Sometimes people lose patience, and lash out. Or uh, just leave. Which is the better option of those 2, lol.

I would say, just keep goin' through it, see how your experience develops. I'm positive you wont run into them all that much, but in the case that you do find someone who parses, don't just report em.

Instead, report them because they are harassing people with it. Parsers are harmless for the most part, and most of the people that do use em don't use them maliciously.

Parser's aren't bad. They just tell you numbers. What's bad are the people that wield the numbers as weapons, and I can safely say I don't run into em often at all. I think I can recall 1 time, and that was in Dun Scaith, the last 24man of HW.

Off topic-ish, but remember that in higher end content, Parsers do have their place. Let's assume everyone has reached enrage. If you are not familiar with this term, it means you have basically reached the end of the bosses fight, where they forcefully wipe the entire party. You do want to know who is pulling their weight, so you can maybe help to get them to improve, or if you have to, potentially remove them from your party in higher end content. It's important to know where issues are coming from, and where weak links lie. It's not fun for anyone if people are holding them back, and I know it sucks to get kicked, but if you are not good enough for content via your damage rotation, then you have to get better. End game dungeons are no issues, normal raids are no big deal.

But in extremes, you have to be fairly average, or a bit better. In savage, you have to be above average, and in Ultimate, you have to be real good at the game. All of it takes practice, and if you don't practice, you are most likely gonna be wasting your own time and other peoples time.


Sorry for the long post, just wanted to express my thoughts and maybe help you carry a few reminders as you progress through the game and slowly make your way into end game content.

Honestly, at this point I don't think you experience it as often as you say or think you do. People have the tendency to focus on and remember their negative experiences and I have a hard time believing that of the few dungeon runs you've actually done that most all of them have included harassment against a newbie DPS.

Never really said I experience it all the time. I pretty much quantified the number of times I experienced it in the OP.

Considering how trivial low level story/leveling content is, what I experienced was just disproportionate compared to other online gaming communities. I mean, as bad as online communities can get, most can pretty much unanimously keep it together through the most trivial content the game offers. Nevertheless, I'm interested to see how the community fares when the content actually starts getting difficult. I'm not exactly hopeful at this point.

Yeah i know about that,also Damage Down debuffs,ress debuf etc all have a factor,but when it comes to a person who played well,did not die and simply said "your dps was the lowest in the party",that sentence alone is screaming hes using dps meter xD

So in your OP you mentioned 5 times to others and once to yourself, but that is out of how many dungeon runs in total?

From my experience, it usually takes at least 50-100 runs for me to see even one instance of where someone even comments about someone needing to do better without the group having wiped in the process first. Even more than that for me to run into an instance where I think it needs pointing out someone is significantly underperfoming just from paying attention to what is going on in game. And yet I don't think I have seen a single instance of someone actually getting harassed over their play.

In hard content, you might want to consider yourself lucky if someone mentions anything about you potentially underperfoming. As more often than not you will be blind kicked. You can thank those that respond to any criticism of their play with hostility for that, as people just don't want to deal with the toxicity many resort to when someone speaks up about bad play even after several wipes.

One thing people need to realize is there is only one constant in all of their dungeon runs. Themselves. If constantly get called out, odds are there is probably a reason for it that one refuses to admit to themselves. If keep getting toxic groups, might want to consider how you act or re-examine the behavior of those you pre-group with. You have a lot more impact on the quality of your groups than you think.

Again, not really sure how I'd be the common factor in all of this when I don't really chat in dungeons, and most of what I've seen doesn't directly involve me. This insistence on indicating that I'm the problem from people does come off as just more attempts at justifying harassment.

SE should just allow parsing and be done with it.
Those who parse don't make assumptions when they speak about other, they point something out that can be proved by data.

And tbh i'd rather have GM's spend more time hunting gathering bots than waste time on people who's fragile feelings got hurt cause someone told them to step up their game.

Do i agree with parsing/kicking on MSQ dungeons/raids?
No and i couldn't care less even if people kept failing mechs since this content can be easily be cleared for them by the rest of the party.

Do i agree with parsing/kicking on optional content like Ex and above?
Hell yes. If someone is too lazy to even read/view a short guide before he/she join such content he/she deserve the backlash.
From the moment that someone don't respect others time/effort and is expected to get carried he/she has no right to demand to be respected in return.

So you’ve met 5 bad apples and assume the other ~1,000,000 other players in this game are equally as bad as those 5 you met? That sounds fair.

Multiple bad apples spoils the bunch worse and the rot spreads faster as well.

There comes a point where you can't burn the bad ones out faster than they infect everything around them, and then you really have a problem.

And this is why we can't have nice things.
