I guess I can't tell which side you're on based on this. If you don't care what hardcore raiders do and have baggage to do with them then I guess I would assume you would be in favor of keeping the atma system the way it is in order to make sure they still have to go through what we went through and not nerf it but then again I take your post as somewhat of a disagreement to mine so like I said I don't know where you stand lol

In my opinion if they were to "let up" on the atma I would have them do that for people that already have their animus/novus/nexus so that they can get their atma for another class having already overcome the mind game that is atma. And to be honest they did that already to an extent. They made it so that if you have animus/novus/nexus and do fates with those weapons equiped you have the chance of dropping atma/alexandrite. So while I was farming my nexus I ended up getting an Alex in between trial Qs.

In my opinion this patch was freaking amazing for the relic quest!

boo freakedy hoo, get over your self-conceited delusions and realize that long grinds for something that might not drop is not translating to fun nor a proper time sink for people nowadays. Most people have jobs/classes they have to go to, they'd rather spend their time doing something not as stressful when they have free time. I am speaking from personal experience right now.

In FFXI there was an HNM named Khimaira, I put my time in for the special drop Hauteclaire, which is an estimated 7% drop rate. I got it to drop after about 30 times with my HNMLS, camping days even weeks for the stupid monster until finally it dropped.

However in my celebration, a fellow player hacked my account, I was unable to access it until after Square Enix finished their restoration and investigation, however when I got my character back, I did not get my Hauteclaire, my Hofud, nor my Valhalla helm back. The hofud and the helm were easy since we did Odin and no one wanted those anymore, however Hautclaire...? Yeah...

2009...6 months of camping him with my HNMLS, no dice.
2010....5 months of nonstop waiting and hunting...no drop, several times lost aggro and another HNMLS snagged him.
2012-2014....17 months of constant camping, one morning after staying up literally a full 24 hours waiting for his pop window, at 4 in the morning...he popped...we got the kill....and got the damn sword back.


Now if you want to sit on your high horse and act like everyone should spend that kind of time farming something that is but a stepping stone....no.....just no, take your fail way of thinking with you, and just shove off.

I would like you to tell your boss or your teacher that you dont wanna wait for your pay check (btw your pay check is either 7-30 days before you get it no different the the atma's sometimes you gotta be patient and do the time) or your teacher gives you a long assignment and you tell him it takes up too much of your time because you have to work, Im sure they are gonna give you a few words and they probably wont be kind one's at that. I understand this is a game but it's a MMO it is a long term game and should have long and short term content.

Your analogy shows that you have no idea how RNG works.

If you want to compare it to your boss giving you your paycheck, it's like him saying "You have to work for me, and I'll pay you... someday... but you'll never know when exactly. I understand how it works i was merely trying to put an example of what could. I find the atma grind just fine because I know it will be there tomorrow when I log in. I am not a casual player but I am in no rush to complete it as fast as possible. Instead of everyone complaining about the atma's why not spend time doing it. Say it takes 5 mins to do each fate for 1 atma, 5 mins per fate and you do 30 fates thats 150 mins dont count the time you spend online if you are not doing fates and dont count the travel time, only count the time you spent in a fate/s.

RNG is RNG. One persons experience doesn't speak for another. That is the whole idea of it being random. With the current system in place, it is possible never to have gotten one atma since there release.

Until you accept this, you're wrong.

People don't tend to have a problem if things take time, however, people do have a problem if there is a chance that you will NEVER complete it. The grind isn't the problem, the fact you aren't guaranteed anything is and at the end, you get a recolour, that's essentially it. The grind isn't worth the reward.

Going on your paycheck analysis, you can either get it in 1 hour, or you can get it at some random time in 20+years, now, take that chance and do it 12 more times, that's your Atma grind. You are not guaranteed Atma for completing a certain number of FATEs, with a small chance you get it early (which is what your paycheck analysis essentially comes down to). Again, it's not so much the grind, it's the fact there is no guarantee of progression. It's a grind where you can spend as long as you want on it, and you are not guaranteed to make any progress at all.

For numbers, I spend 800-900 FATEs to get all my Atmas, which is 67-75 on average per Atma. Going with your 5 mins per FATE, that's 67-75 hours for the complete Atma set. 3 times the time you spent on yours. That means, if we both had the same amount of luck throughout the whole thing, and both working equally as hard, you could have 3 complete sets of Atma in the time it has taken me to get 1. In what world is that fair? We both spent the same time and the same effort doing the task, but you got rewarded with 3 times the reward. This is what people hate, not so much the grind, or the fact it takes a long time, its the fact nothing is guaranteed and you can easily spend much more time than someone else for the same reward.

All it needs is a cap on FATEs per area, like has been suggested several times. Complete 50 FATEs, you are guaranteed an Atma. That's still 600 FATEs and it is still going to be a grind, but it does allow you to get it early and the most important part, it means there is a maximum amount of time you can spend doing it. This means, in the end, everyone can progress in their relic, even if it does take the full 600 FATEs. Even if you want it to be completely RNG dependant, just increase the drop rate, even raising it to something like 5% would be fine, that's still roughly 20 FATEs per area needed, whihc is much better odds than we currently have, but you still aren't guaranteed the drop.

I'll wait till the math proves that every person is guaranteed an atma drop. Until then, no amount of math disproves the RNG factor of Atma. There is a chance Atma will never drop for a player. Label it a small chance, it's still a chance. These excuses have proven nothing. Come back when you can provide something relevant.

You guys do realize that it's fine to have rare items by "chance" and rare items by "skill", right? Atma is rare items by "chance." A lot of people like the thrill of excitement or the knowledge that the item they have is "rare." I don't think it's right for someone to say that because it's pure "chance" it should be removed. That's not fair to people who enjoy that kind of stuff.

To be honest, what this really boils down to was, SE wanted to repopulate the fate system that died out after everyone capped (granted not everyone sees the need to get 50 everything, like myself)

But what I see is its a relic weapon, and it should have some massive huge really cool story going on about how its becoming even more epic. Instead what we got was talk to npc for 60 secs and go farm the next random days/weeks/months depending on A, chance, B your play time allowed. (some people have jobs and other responsibilities, guess we're the casuals /shrug) I don't even remember why I was looking for said atma pieces, it was weeks ago I talked to the dude last.

And the big glaring elephant in the room is, we play games for enjoyment and fun, there is nothing fun about sitting for hours whacking low level stuff with very little return.
