Hey all, can confirm issues are not resolve here a well with packet loss across the board on the NTT server nodes leading to the final node dropping packets again.
Quoting one the post from late night just to bring back up that something clearly was switched that "fixed" the connection issues. Now that we are back a peak hrs, the servers are struggling again. There is no freaking way that enough people all at once decided to log out during peak and cause the connection to be stable all night. Not with a drop like seen above.
Even with the connection being stable without packet loss, there is still in my opinion an uncomfortably amount of packet loss starting at the San Jose and Sacramento NTT nodes. As far as I understand though that doesn't matter as long as the final destination isn't dropping packets.
I'd recommend to keep sending tracert reports via the form provided to use here. May want to do in-game bug reports as well: https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...a451d5a8daa66f
Also keep updating the forum of your ongoing issues and even if possible make its known on socials that the issues are still happening. At this point its is very clear this is an issue with the servers.
Yeah, it's back to being a mess:

Another day, more lag. Still experiencing extreme lag with AT&T and now my workaround, using my Verizon mobile hot-spot, is experiencing the same latency issues.
Kansas AT&T user here. Been having the same horrible lag in FF14 as the rest of you, 5/16/23 was the first time I noticed it. I'm on PS5, tried the 1.1.1.1 DNS entry which didn't help, but last night, 5/26/23 during the evening peak hours was the first time I was pretty much lag free all night. I haven't tried yet again today, just wanted to share my experience. I'm still using 1.1.1.1 though, in case that's a piece of the puzzle. Thanks
Back to lag, it was nice while it lasted.
Day 13 folks! They saw us rejoice at the lack of latency issues yesterday evening and said "no thank you".Quote:

I have been having major issues like the rest of us on at&t and have submitted tickets, called at&t and tried to get things resolved and we all know how that went. I gave up and went with a vpn (PIA) and it was working much better with the vpn with the different locations in previous postings. This afternoon, however, even with the VPN I am now having the same issues that I had without it. I will keep changing locations but I am now getting disconnects in game and huge lag spikes worse than ever. I have a feeling it is because of the weekend more people are on game but it is now unplayable with a vpn which i had to pay for on top of the game monthly subscription. Not sure what to try and about to give up on playing ffxiv as it does not seem like it is going to be fixed anytime soon. This is unacceptable but here we are.

I suspected last night may just have been because people in the US would be traveling for Memorial Day. They've likely gotten to their vacation spots now and logged in.
Back to the Honolulu VPN server I go
I'm using PIA as well. Try Honolulu. It doesn't hit that 129.250.7.57 IP and at least for me that seems to make all the difference.

Maybe huffing some hard hopium, but perhaps they have the root caused nail down and will be able to replicate whatever they did last night?
The pessimism in me is saying this issue isn’t getting fix in a timely manner.
We have had a few bursts of lag as well over here using 1.1.1.1 (my wife and I)
Its not as bad as without Warp but its still happening again.
Now it seems Nord VPN is back to normal and I have excellent connection once again.
Going to try another alliance raid here in a bit to see if it really is working.
Looks like I'm experiencing lag again, but at the moment it doesn't appear as bad as it was before on my end. It appears to be slightly less frequent.
So I've been told that this has something to do with Silicon Valley Banks getting shut down and causing tech issues. This happened back in March and now its slowly affecting everything techwise. So apparently this is a big california issue as well.
Not sure how true this is, but this is what a friend informed me of. Would explain why NTT says there is an NDA.
The lag is coming from inside the house! /s
Seriously though, I'm even lagging on 1.1.1.1 now. What on earth...
Free/public VPNs are going to lag, that's to be expected. Especially ones that are made for "normies" and just have a single button to enable globally on your system instead of including options to let you choose to only route certain executables through the connection, so there's gonna be bandwidth wasted by users who want to also watch videos and/or download big stuff during prime hours.
I would recommend you to try something else. I went back to my old reliable method of just making a proxy with AWS (free 12 month trial) and launched an ec2 instance in US west-1 (N. California). I haven't experienced lag since.
I'm having a harder and harder f-ing time finding a working VPN to work around this garbage where is the damn fix already?!?! Cancelling the sub if not fixed by June I'm FINALLY DONE
Yeah the ick is back:

I have not logged on due to I'm JUST home from the con. Still wiped, physically. Let's hope this bloody lag is almost over tho, by the Twelve.
Also if you're wondering, the ping at the end is always 100% packet loss for me, but if it's all green, then I know I'm fine.
Oooh, interesting, if the information you were given is at least somewhat true.
True, Silicon Valley Bank going under had some ripple effects, but the scale even affecting the tech sector of California?
That will be a mess and a half to clean up, but we'll see how it goes next. If SVB was helping fund those NTT nodes... the plot thickens. That would also explain the NDAs in place.
Pretty sure that .229.10 is no longer used. Try 204.2.29.7.
Thanks Radhaz, I'll try that. What I'm trying to ping is the lobby server for the Primal data center/cluster; I'd ping Excalibur directly but I can't find the exact ip.
It's also a hazard of coming home from the con worn to a nubbin.
I was able to play about 5 hours last night with no lag or disconnections, and no VPN. Hoping it stays that way.
Had severe packet loss last night while trying to help friends prog the new EX. Thankfully I had cleared a couple of nights prior where things were calm using Nord.
I'm tired of this game being so unplayable in certain cases and I'm very worried for how savage is going to look this week.
Thank you so much TaleraRistain about the suggestion on the Vpn PIA (Honolulu) location. I will give that a try and hopefully fingers crossed that will at least help with making the game playable. I really appreciate your help!
Connection is bad currently. I woke up late so wasn't tracking when it started turning on us, but it's currently sporadic and unstable. Another day, another pack of trash.
I'm not sure about you guys may be my copium talking but my latency in the game has been going up and down a lot today. i can't really tell at all but could be there tuning it out? maybe idk... want to be hopeful
Well, for now it's in good shape. Brother is sleeping on the couch (not surprising after Momocon) but I've been able to get though The Voidcast Dais and though the first of the new Pandy raids, which I could not before without feeling like a heel/useless as a white mage. I'm naturally BAD at the fights but I was going in blind. I'll get though the rest of pandy tomorrow.
The true test will be messing either with my PS4 (Don't. Laugh. 'Neko got into the game b/c I installed my PS4 copy on his PS5, tho he had to buy his own code, I warned him about that) or that PS5 and see if I can play ok that way.
[Edit] spoke too soon. Can post it up but as of 6:30 EST, the lag started up again grrr. Well, that won't work for poor 'Neko but it will for me, hopefully it stops completely soon.
The lag is definitely still there, but it does seem significantly better than it's been the last two weeks. Hopefully soon it'll be gone completely.
I hope so too Rekts. At least it's starting a bit late it seems (It showed up again around 5-6 EST); I am prolly going to use PingPlotter before I login or I give Neko the okay to login for a while.
Yeah, still struggling here too:
My sub expires at the end of this week. I'd like to hope that it'd be fixed before that point but I'm not sure how realistic that is.Code:5 * * * Request timed out.

Trace complete.
At least this weekend's traceroutes and pings have shown that either they're actually working at the node, traffic is in flux due to the weekend holiday, both of those, or it's something else entirely/an anomaly.
Savage week will be the real telling blow.
But I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that hotfixes will require 3 hours of downtime a little later, from 12AM to 3AM Pacific. Not that it'd impact matters here too much, just worth noting.
For me, lag was significantly worse than yesterday.
EorzeaHero69; what time was it? I was fine up from 1 EST up until 3 or 4, then I decided to pingplotter the lobby server again and discovered it was prolly a very bad connection now, so went to do something else. A lagging whm is a very unhappy whm, and since I see your main class is paly I think you can relate to that; tanks don't need to be lagging either.
In the last hour the lag has gotten a lot worse. It was manageable earlier(but still very inconvenient) but now for me it's back to being unplayable.
I'm so tired of not being able to play properly.
It's been so hard to PvP. Even on my vpn, it's still a little laggy. I've been PvPing since PvP came out in this game, and never saw it this bad for so long. My hopes of placing in this CC season are waning quickly.
Still happening here as well. Still nearly 100% packet loss on NTT servers up to the final hops IP. Below is the latest Tracert results.

Playable with the use of VPN thankfully but Square needs to give us another update on whats being done to resolve this. This isn't a "fix".
With Savages next week its gonna be real fun watching players constantly disconnecting mid run if they are not already using a VPN. This will hopefully upset players not being affected by the lag themselves as they can't complete runs with their group without these issue and they'll hopefully add full to the flames.
Keep reporting the issue to the below form posted by Square and make the issue visible on socials or even Squares own post. Even if its possibly NTT or whatever IPs fault, its Square responsibility to keep us up to date and fix it. Issue again for me and others is only happening on FFXIV.
https://sqex.to/vzc
Keep it up with the reports. I'm positive it'll be fixed eventually.
*edit, sorry url was broken lol. fixed it. Packet loss form is at the bottom of the list.
It's baaaaaaaaaack. :(
Yesterday was lovely, I got a chance to finish Panda. But today WHAM comes the rubberbanding again. :<
Went down as a DPS on on castrum meridiuam
for the first time ever because of this lag. If people can’t even run basic msq what is SE even doing
