The boss will counter anything you do if you don’t have the right tower element. The way you find this out is you read what he says in chat, example is “if he mentions ice and lightning” then the safe element you can get from a tower will be fire. Now each towers glow will sorta self explanatory as to what element it is.

Most parties are willing to explain mechanics, but others want people to be prepared. It's down to chance and the people you're with.

Rather than allow your experience to be controlled entirely by strangers, show some initiative before zoning in and you'll reduce the chances of this happening again.

Or just let it slide off and queue again. Tenacity is a tank stat, after all, so let it show rather than just crumpling after a bad run -- which everyone has from time to time.

Mean people exist. You can try to report them for improper kicking if it'll make you feel better although I don't think anything will come of it.

Also, since I'm sure most other people won't say it if they respond to this, you can stop this from happening by just watching guides before doing new content. I'm not here to debate whether you should have to or not but just look up mtqcapture on YouTube - she's got concise guides on everything you could need and that way you don't have to be asking people in the middle of a dungeon that they probably just want to get through for explanations.

As to that bosses mechanics Stab is his tankbuster, stand in an orange towers when the 3 spawn. After the tower damage goes out he'll say "My cup runner over with [two elements]" and you need to go to the circle aspected to the element he didn't say. If he says "lightning and ice" go to the fire circle and so on. You just need to step in it for a moment to get the appropriate buff.

Were you ever kicked on your first run? Listen, I don't wanna hold up anybody of course but asking questions versus looking up a guide is pretty ridiculous. Jumping to a conclusion "either im not enjoying game or no cut out for multiplayer games" this is not a multiplayer game in the traditional sense. Majority of the game is solo content. The people weren't being mean just impatient which I get.

What is really irritating, is the notion that I look at a guide and all is well. How did the person who makes the guide learn how to do the said mechanics? Does no one believe in trial an error on a game, learning from instinct...Reporting is useless and to your point im letting this bother me to much.

I just ran with friends and had no issue.

@Jimmymagic: From having run that place a lot for glams I can tell you that they probably didn't know the mechanics either and were probably too awkward to say it so you got scapegoated. What you want to do for the 2nd boss in Abania is watch his emote and grab the element that is NOT mentioned in the emote. So for example if it says "My cup runneth over with fire and ice" you want to get lightning and so on depending on what it says. Stab is a pretty saucy tank buster for a leveling dungeon so you want to try to have a defensive cooldown up for that if you can. The last boss also has a hard hitting tank buster (Ketu slash? I think) that you also want to have a defensive cooldown up for so you dont stress out your healer.

A lot of the advice the others are giving you is pretty solid. Keep at it and don't let others ruin things for you!

I've never been kicked like that, no. To be fair I take the 5 minutes to watch a guide before going into something new to me if it isn't new to other people as well.

If you're impeding the completion of the dungeon and you have an option to not do that I don't think kicking you is that crazy. While I personally wouldn't kick someone for that (since I can explain mechanics) I could see perhaps ps4 players without keyboards having trouble explaining what to do and with a tankbuster that hits as hard and as frequently as Stab does a tank not staying alive in that fight pretty much means a wipe.

I'm not sure why you feel entitled to the time of other people? If you want to play a single player game do so, if you don't want to then do your best to not be a burden on others.

The people who make guides generally do content as it's released (when the demand for a guide is high) so they learn mechanics in the way you seem to want to. The only answer to your problem is to catch up to everyone else and do content as it comes out when no one expects anyone else to know how things work.

Or (again) look it up.

For the most part according to general consensus and also my own experience as a veteran the community in ffxiv is much more mature and polite than other games. However there is still always bad apples here and there. Personally i have played since arr began and i never once got kicked simply for being a first timer in this game. However if it happened to you then i think that's not right to you. I'm really sorry you had to go through that and i hope you can clear it when you get home from work. If you want i can always help you clear it ^^. Just visit the Brynhildr server and run a player search for my character Fox Deity. I'm basically always online. Send me a tell or something and i would be happy to help you out!

What you did wasn't wrong in my book. Sure, you could have looked up a guide if you wanted but when it comes to msq stuff I really don't find it necessary. Most of the time the mechanic that is killing you is explained in a few sentences. People who stress guides do so without realizing that some players don't want to be spoiled and want to encounter things as fresh and new like those of us that played the game at the expansions launch. If you die and ask questions there is no harm in that. Most veterans won't kick a new person and are understanding. You were just really unlucky. I'm also on your server so if you need someone to run this I'll be here for another hour. Just shoot my char a tell and I'll come heal for you.

If I see a 'someone hasnt completed this dungeon' message, ill give one line answers that people -should- be able to figure out by paying attention to the fight. I'm not going to walk you through the entire fight on the fly, theres no overly complex mechanics on msq dungeons.

Theres a lot of "Dont stand in red things"

I think mine for number whatshisnuts is "get the element he isnt overloading".

Hell, phase 2 of Zurvan can generally be summed up as "Touch the butt, then wait until he stops casting and run away from the butt" and people have nfi how to even do the first part when it has an ae indicator.
