Nothing is fixed yet? Why am I not surprised?
Whats the point of "All Worlds "Ruby Sea" Emergency Maintenance" when the majority of the player base can't even get passed the 1st roadblock. I see the post in bug reports that its confirmed/to be addressed but its been over 24 since last update . . . lack of communication is crazy
Sigh still stuck on the Binding Coil of Raubahn. I have tried multiple times of day but still no luck getting past the first solo instance in the MSQ :(.
All I can say is don't get too excited if you can get past this quest, ( I finally did ) because ten minutes later you get a quest from Pipin that has the exact same problem, only worse because it kicks you from the server and prevents re-entry for about 10 minutes.
Early Access has been a blast!
It took me around 24h of non-stop spamming the NPC to get through it.
Using the numpad on PC, selecting, going through the text, accepting the pop-up etc goes way faster, but still IT TOOK ME 24 HOURS!
This is honestly not an acceptable approach.
I can understand Square wants to keep the servers up and running for people to play and enjoy the game, but this was not enjoyable.
It's a new expansion, we don't want to do anything else or try later.
I was lucky and had no issues with the follow up quests on our server.
So now I can finally move to the next zone.
It's just depressing. I want to play with the few of my friends that did manage to get through. But I can't, so I'm stuck mining for hours on end, when I eventually get tired of talking to Raubahn. It's completely ruined the expansion launch for a lot of people. It would be one thing if it was a side quest. It would be one thing if this was much farther back. But this happens almost right out of the gate, and it's been two days almost. The only information we've gotten is "we're sorry." I don't pretend to know what's going on over there, but it's really upsetting.
It's even MORE upsetting when I know there's another bottleneck on Balmung right past the first one.
Worse yet, it's intentional - they're limiting access to prevent the servers from crashing which suggests that they're not prepared for a large influx of players even after a lengthy track record of lots and lots of people coming to the game everytime there's a fresh content patch. In an hour and a half as of this post it will officially be day three of early access, too.
:(
Let's all just remember this when 5.0 launches
At this point, I'd be willing to bet that the issue regarding Best Served with Cold Steel is a problem that cannot be readily fixed by the FFXIV team alone. From the looks of things, too, not sure who exactly, they seem really adamant about not taking down the servers. Makes sense if they really cannot do anything to fix the congestion. Still wishing they'd just completely turn off DF and PF for a couple of hours if it could help.
Ran into an issue similar to that with the game I worked on. It boiled down to this:
add more server/hardware/bandwidth/whatever was needed to keep the server stable for the entire playerbase at this peak time, increasing the overall cost,
or
bite the bullet and stick to what you have because numbers show your income and player influx will die down and you don't want to be stuck paying a figure you cannot sustain.
Someone mentioned doing a player search in the area to see how many people are in the instance and are watching the cutscene . There are over 200 people trying to get in on my world and only maybe one or two actually making it in what seems like every 15-30 minutes. There will be long stretches like a whole hour where no one gets in though. The limitation is set to insanely low so not sure when this will be resolved.
90% of all NA at this point will have spent all of EA trying to get pasted that stupid instance! its coming up for the 48 hours since EA has started and they STILL NOT SORTED THIS!!! SORT THIS SHIT NOW! we dont care at this point if you shut servers down for EM, at this rate the servers might as will crash as next no one can play stromblood's MQS beyond the 1 hour mark!!!!
Just open up more instance rooms. Right now 160 players on my server are trying to get in. Let more ppl in slowly.
Man, an update even stating what to do/not do could freakin' help or tell people to just not bother at this point. People's hopes go on every hour as 1 or 2 people get past, so they continue to spam. I'm seeing fights break out over people lining up/not lining up, spamming, etc. 1.0 didn't take long for people to give up on. I feel that this could be the end to a lot of people playing because they have no patience and seemingly no update, support from the creators. Telling people to just try again later is not an update. I guess our money means nothing to SE, nor our time. White knights can back them all they want, say this is SUPPOSED to happen, but no, it's really not. If I had known I was signing up for a beta, I would have waited until the bugs were out so I didn't have to deal with the frustration. And do you really think they will fix this by the 20th??? I doubt it. That's when the real chaos and unsubbing will occur. Not just this quest either. Just a huge disappointment.
Is it just me or or is a lot easier for Aether users to get in than Primal? Most people I see that do get past it are from Aether. It's almost as if Aether has higher priority. I've had friends on Gilagmesh tell me they got in early morning quite easily because hardly anyone was there. On Gilgamesh no less. Whereas here in Leviathan, early morning doesn't help. There's still 30+ people crowding by Raubahn and you can click spam for hours without accomplishing anything. You can't even tell if anybody is getting through.
I think the maintenance will come on Monday.
... Not all of the rest of Aether is "low" population, it's just that Balmung and Gilgamesh are that bloated (because of Gilgamesh having the rep of 'most serious raid server' and Balmung having the rep of 'role-playing server'). If not everyone jumped ship to those two servers, our population across the datacenter would have been just as evenly spread. We have 3 servers under 5k (Goblin, Zalera and Mateus) with all the rest hovering around the populations of Primal and we have the bloated messes of Balmung and Gilgamesh.
What if they make a quick shutdown and autocomplete the quest for everyone who has it in their quest logs?
From what other people are saying there is 2 MSQ after this and if we all rush it we would be back where we started.
Then what if they auto complete the 3 MSQ and make another quick shutdown one day after to complete it again?
Damn, maybe they can make it so the thing become automated? You pick up the quest and it is magicaly already completed?
cold steel is nothing. Wait until you get to Pipin. That's just rauhbahn's first form.

hope this addresses our issue as well
That is it. Just stuck on this quest still. I cannot believe this isn't fixed yet
Well, please tell Yoshida and his team that it's not working. My wife and I managed to get through cold steel only to find that In Crimson it Began is an even bigger block. Two solo instances events back to back is insane, and the 2nd of the two is as bad or worse, 24 hours later. Best yet we had emergency maintenance on the Ruby Sea, to fix a problem. I guess hundreds of angry players blocked from progress is less of an issue though...
Yea a zone that most players can't get to.
Here we are going on 48 hrs later and still no proper fix for this. Its been HOURS since any form of update was given in regards to this....
Seriously SE just eliminate the Instanced MSQ altogether at least until u get the things on your end sorted out
Yeah noticing people are really starting to lose their temper after 48 hours maybe its time to stop saying "it's working as intended" and do something at this rate its going to be continuing well past the games official release date.
Sadly this is standard procedure, it would seem. European players were understandably very annoyed by the way in which the promotion items were handled over here. Most of us still don't have the original set of items, let alone the second. It took almost a year to get a proper reply to address our concerns. That this - an even bigger issue - is being handled in a similar manner is not a huge surprise to me.
