I did happen to me once... I don't remember the conditions.
Never happened to me unless I try to jam alot of gcds together.
I've also had this happen once. I was in A2 and it was on reset day and the server lag was something fierce so I kinda equated it to that. But I hit enochian, it went on cool down, but I didn't receive the buff. I just chalked that one up to lag.
Help! Any advice on my next gear piece please :) Finally will get my first i210 with manifests (rng drops hate me! lol)
Currently
Wpn: Eso
Head: i190
Body: Eso
Hands: Eso
Waist: Eso
Legs: i190
Feet: Eso
My right side is all i190 except for 1 ring which is Eso.
I will get my fourth page 1 manifest this week and am not sure what to get with Eso. I was thinking getting my i190 ring to i210 with the manifests and either getting head Eso or waiting till next week to get Legs Eso (I know not BiS, but BiS seems some time away for me). I am currently on A1S with multiple clears, however my new static is still on A1S. Not much happening with A2S at the moment as my server hates practice parties for some reason... (tried PF multiple days/nights and never get a full party).
TIA :)
Yes, so much this ^^^^
I was using this opener last night and, most often, I would end up at roughly 450 mana when I should be SC+Flare. To Mayonnegg's point, I think the reason is that the opener requires you to time your opening Fire III hardcast so that it lands as you are getting a mana tick. Anyone else able to confirm?
If you are talking about that quad Fire 4, you need to cast Fire 3 as you get a none combat MP tick or it won't work.
Anyone know the new meta on BLM BiS? Is it Eso earrings + Crit/acc food or Eso wrists + ss food?
...Can the be different metas with bis ?_?
Anyways, this seems to be the generally accepted set with weapon being a wildcard.

And the one you posted.
To anyone with latency or under Arrow/Selene, and doing the F1 opener, go for this instead of trying to fit Convert + Swift in one GCD:
F1 > F3P > F4 F4 F1 (get proc) F4 > F3P > Swiftcast > F4 > Convert > F4 F4 > B3
Strictly better than going for a Flare in that opener if you score the F3P, since there is zero chance of clipping (in my case, pretty realistic clipping with 1.9s GCD, guess I'm not JP enuff).
By any chance does anyone know the state weights for blm? I found this doc (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2H...gyNzEyX3c/view) and it says det 0.108, crit 0.157, ss, 0.172. Can anyone confirm? Thanks :)
To be honest, I can't confirm that, but it sounds right. If those numbers are correct, Sohm al Tarts would actually be better than Creme Brulee. Not by much, but much cheaper and easier to make. Which would make this BiS:

I'm looking specifically at the part in the guide where both sharpcast + enochian CDs are up. It is Sharpcast + eno > F1 > F4 x2 > F3P > F4x2 > B3. I'm confused on why it starts at F1 and not F3. even if I were to transpose, that's only AF2 after the first F1 while doing the first two F4s. How does that work out??
Hello. I didn't want to make a new thread for a simple question, so, I just restarted levelling Blm (At 46 now) and I found out I'm really enjoying it, more than I remember. I'm looking for a new main job since, to be honest, healing since 2.0 has burned me on that role. I just wanted to ask which would be better, Blm or Bard, and how is Blm on endgame, is it fun? Too hard?
Thanks all
Black Mage has been much different then 2.0 Blm but honestly think it was good changes as it adds more to the class. Now you have to pay attention to what you are doing but by no means is it too hard.
Bard, well do not let all the complainers steer you away, well over half of them do not know what they are talking about, lol.
Bard now has slight cast times for some abilities now but honestly it is something you just have to get used to. Bard 2.0 had it way too easy compared to other classes.
Also i have been using HQ Sohm Al tarts, i find it best for me overall and way cheaper :)
You should play what you enjoy the most. Difficulty, in my opinion, is all a matter of perspective. One person might find BLM super simple and find Dragoon extremely difficult, while another may feel the opposite. All jobs are viable, even in endgame. Yes, there is an "ultimate" party composition, but unless you are in world first progression, it doesn't matter. The jobs compliment each other well, and are fairly balanced.
As far as BLM, it is much more complex now than it was in 2.0. Astral Fire timers are actually something you need to pay attention to now, and juggling that with your enochian timer makes you pay more attention than you had to before. BLM in endgame is great. Very powerful if executed properly. You just have to try the jobs and play what you are the most passionate about.
Just going to put my two cents into the mix with det vs crit. I am going to upgrade my goetia gloves today: reason being is critting a blizzard 1 or a thunder application makes me really, really mad. That said I havent posted bard parses in about two weeks (the newest ones have all been mch :/) I feel det is better due to rng, atleast det is always effective. and If i do recall you can say that 50 det = 1%. I'll be testing that today after i get my twine since the gloves slot is excellent for that test. Every blm has also gotten the dreaded 0% crit opener even with litany... and well det doesnt do that either. Also feel det works better for handling a4 and a1 adds. ever accidentally crit at 20%? sucks bad doesn't it?
I haven't decided what I think is bis exactly yet though, but I've never gone with general acceptance unless it's super proven.
Well 2.x, spell speed and determination was of greater value, there was tests and such and i had a full ss and det Relic but have been hearing from countless players that crit is now higher value then determination. I do agree however until there are actual tests and real stat weights out and not to mention eso gear will probably be replaced not too far from now, so yeah
Stats have been shifted in HW across all jobs it would seem
I have a question about the first two openers. Why do you cast Enochian before F1? Wouldn't it be better to cast:
(opener buffs & stuff)-> F1-> Enochian-> F4-> etc...
so that you have an extra 2 seconds of Enochian as a "cushion" for some movement? Is it so that F1 gets the Enochian and RS buffs, and if so is it that big of a boost?
Sorry if this is a dumb question. I'm trying to get the rotation down, while still being able to move a bit without losing Enochian.
I've been using Leroy's opener (from Elysium) for movement reasons.
Sharpcast, Quelling, F1, (start moving now), Enochian, F3P, Ley Lines, Raging, F4, Potion, F1, F4, F4, F4
This is where it diverges.. if you got a Firestarter proc on the second F1, you finish it like this: F3P, Swiftcast, Convert, F4, F4, B3, T1, B4, F3
But if you didn't get a Firestarter proc on the second F1, you finish it like this: Swiftcast, Flare, Convert, F4, B3, T1, B4, F3
This gives you plenty of time in the beginning to get into position, doesn't rely on piety or mana tick timings, and is from what I've been able to tell, comparable in DPS to the other options. It's a no frills opener that gives movement opportunities and makes good use of the Potion time.
So yeah been playing blm for a few days and I'm absolutely in love with it, really want to change from main healer to it. Feels very rewarding! Any tips for a newcomer to Black Magic? Thanks! (Also, Thunder 1 or 2?)
Kind of off-topic but I've been really frustrated with A4S these past few weeks and I'm hoping someone can offer some advice.
We've made it to final phase a few times and seen Royal Pentacle but most of our time is spent wiping on the 3rd leg due to adds spawning before the leg dies. Sometimes we have really good pulls where it melts with plenty of time to spare before the second set of adds spawn, but most of the time we're getting it to 1% or killing it as they spawn. I'm doing everything I can possibly do, I have all my cooldowns and potion at the beginning of 3rd leg with BV Foe and my Doll is usually the first one fed, then I'm back on the leg ASAP.
Does this sound like lack of motivation and people not taking it seriously because it's progression? It seem like every time we get frustrated and someone speaks up about wiping to it, the next pull we magically have the DPS to kill it with time to spare. I want that every pull, but it's not happening.
If anyone was in a similar situation and has some tips or advice to increase raid DPS on that leg, I'd appreciate it. Currently our PLD has mostly crafted acessories, and WAR is full 210 slaying.
Who feeds Jagds, how are you using LB, and are both tanks in DPS stance the entire time? Are healers DPSing for the first 10s of Jagd being out, and immediately after the Straf blows up? If your group's gear is i200-i205 I would look at this aspect first and foremost, there's a deceptive amount of DPS your healers can do here.
I recommend roughly this order of people feeding, even if my group doesn't do this: MT > BRD/MCH > BLM > DRG or NIN if you aren't a fan of using a tank to feed. Ideally both of your melee stay on the boss, 15-20s of missed positionals and travel time add up to quite some % lost on the leg.
I'm jealous of BLMs who get to turret there but I do believe BLM is one of the best feeders, unfortunately for you and me.
Me, NIN and BRD are feeding Jagds and I swap sides with the NIN depending on which leg we're on so he doesn't need to move much. NIN LBs near the start of 3rd leg with LB2, I think PLD stays in Shield Oath and switches to Sword before Wirbelwind and WAR is always in Deliverance, both of them are on the leg along with the MNK. SCH is helping DPS the BRD's doll, not sure what WHM is doing but I can ask. We're all i205+.
It's going to be extremely difficult to have our BRD feed first since he's the one struggling the most on the dolls even though he's i206, and feeds really late even with the SCH helping DPS. Currently it's more like BLM > NIN > BRD. I'm guessing dolls aren't a problem for most BRDs? If so, I can see where we're losing that DPS.
I remember our Bard having trouble w/ feeding too and having me/the Sch help him depending on which feed it was, I think it's pretty common actually. Worse, we had healer aggro problems for the longest time until the Bard got more gear. Is it normal to have those problems ? I don't believe so, but it's not out of the picture for some Bards to run into this. Just needs better CD planning and more practice.
Everything minus the PLD going into Shield Oath for a time sounds like you guys should be destroying leg #3, especially with BV Foe's. Your WHM might be the key but honestly something someone's doing is suspect, gear has nothing to do with it with all that piled up.
From my experience BRD/MCH are actually terribly slow feeders, at least on some of the Jagd sets, because they're very CD centric and the start of leg 3 has them blowing the majority of what they have, leaving little for Jagds. It's not really a problem though other than BRD/MCH losing Disembowel uptime, no one really loses anything by having them direct their temporarily low DPS on a Jagd. Any burst you guys give your BRD's Jagd is burst you could just give to the leg instead, best to just stick with DoTs if you do help him.
Suggestions: PLD stays in Sword, even if he has to blow really nice stuff, make sure WHM is going HAM from the start of the leg to quite a bit into Jagds including Presence of Mind if not being used elsewhere, and if your group's still not 100% on it, swap PLD and NIN on Jagds. Also make sure your NIN isn't LBing at an inopportune time for his rotation.
Sorry if I ask in the wrong place, but dunno where to ask:
I've read that there was a graphic glitch related to the glowing effect of Stardust rod. Do you know if it is still on (and if this affects all servers) or they solved it?
I've just started the relic weapon quest and being rewarded with a bugged weapon would be sad (besides, I want it just for the look, since at this point there are stronger weapons)
The weapon at the end of the quest (Lilith Rod) has no issues, but the Stardust Rod has been messed up since the Lilith Rod was introduced. The glowing sphere of light was originally placed on the glowing orb in the comet, but now it floats above for whatever reason.

New shiny EU servers and can't slide cast anymore -- 0.1s interruptions on everything after moving. BLM confirmed literally unplayable.
E: The window for slide casting basically got halved or more for me. I need to get used to this.
E2: I may be imagining things, but even mana ticks feel snappier. Did normal rotation for a few minutes, and a couple of times I didn't get my second tick before F3 finished when I was sure I would get it. But as I said, I might just be imagining this.
Slidecasting still goes pretty well for me.
I can also weave double oGCDs into a single GCD now which was not possible before (with any class!).
This is seriously a godsend.
