Chocobo Dye Experimentation

Results from my 6th feeding came in. I found a definite way to Dalamud Red.

From Blood Red, O'Ghomoro Berries fed until 1 "New Feathers" message yielded Dalamud Red for me.

I will start my 7th feeding soon using only pears. Want to enjoy my Dalamud Red for a bit since this is what I'll most likely settle on eventually.

Edit. Well.. that's actually 40 apples with no message then berries till 1 message; but I'm fairly sure it would work from flat Blood Red. I'll confirm it eventually if no one else does because I will be coming back to Dalamud Red.
And I may stick with Berries for now.. thinking about capping each deepen fruit then move to the next.

So, my experiment with pears is super confusing. With stopping after one new feather message at each step, I've used nothing but pears and gotten Desert Yellow --> Lime Green --> Honey Yellow --> Lime Green. How? o.O

From the default I fed 6 Valfruit (I did get the message about the plumage changing colour after most feeds in the initial set of 6 (didn't write them down sadly). No other fruits were used, and a second attempt after 6 hours using 6 more Valfruits did nothing.

From Rose Pink I fed 6 O'Ghomoro Berries, I got the message after each feed, and the chocobo changed to Coral Pink.

From Coral Pink I fed it another 6 berries, I got the message for feeds 2 through 6. and the chocobo changed to Plum Purple.

From what I can tell, I need to decrease red a bit, increase green a bit and increase blue a fair bit. What do people think of the following:

3 Doman Plum
3 Cieldales Pineapple
3 Valfruit

You need to feed it Doman Plums until you get the "growing new feathers" message. Wait 6 hours and check.

Btw, I stop feeding after I get the 'growing new feather' msg.

Color aim: Apple Green
Feed 1: 7 pear - result: Lime green - proc: 1
Feed 2: 6 berries - prediction: sylph green (I hould have done doma plum instead I think)

Color Aim: Lotus Pink
Feed 1: 3 apples - result: Millicorn Yellow - proc: 1
Feed 2: 5 valfruit - prediction: Pumpkin Orange

Color Aim: Soot Black < another friend
Feed 1: 3 berries, 1 apple, 1 pear - prediction: bone white (my bet is it's the lighten fruit that will make black) - proc: 3


After I achieve my target color, I will retry the recipe in 1 sitting based on proc. If I can reproduce the result, then it will show that how many proc is needed to reproduce the recipe, rather then based on how many fruit is fed.

Starting Color: Gobbiebag Brown
Stable Conditions: Clean

All food fed at the start of the 6 hours:
Feed valfruit -> plumage will change, beginning to grow new feathers (as in, I only fed one valfruit and I got both the plumage will change and beginning to grow new feathers messages)

Result: Coral Pink

Anyway, I'm looking to try and get to Rose Pink from Coral Pink and I'm kinda unsure about how to go about it.

Was trying for Celeste Green, but I ended up with Apple Green, and I have to say... I really REALLY like it. It's very me~! So I am sticking with it. My Tsugaru is a very pretty boy now~! :D

Damn, no wonder han lemon is so expensive, each crop only yields 2 ... :confused::mad::confused:

Based on how I think the system works, I should get Raptor Blue. It's possible that the 1 pear wasn't needed. After the 6 hours, I'm going to try and revert back to Orthard Blue and record my changes.

I did get Raptor Blue.

I'll just chime in. I'm not really aiming towards a certain colour, just something in the purple range =D

First feeding: 1 O'Ghomoro berry
Result: Nada!
Second feeding: 2 O'Ghomoro berry - received message that the chocobo is growing new feathers
Result: Pending
