I am in an RP guild, and would like to change my character to a Seeker, but the naming conventions between Seeker and Keeper names are very different, so unless I change the name, it would be lore breaking.

I'll probably be using Fantasia when I receive it. I'd like to change my name to fit the new look as well.

I understand the blacklist issue, but perhaps there's a way to have a name remain on a blacklist despite it's change. I've played plenty of MMOs where I've seen characters on my friends list change.

Exactly if you have a character named Henry and you race change to a female you obviously don't want to keep your male name.

This already happens when names get changed. peoples friend and blaclists change to the new name. BUt if you don't pay much attention to your blackilst, you may still not notice.

Like I said, I'm generally against making important thingsl ike this changable. It gives weight to the decision and makes people put more thought into it. Allowing name changes will just lead to an increase in joke/silly names that people pick because they know they can change it later.

But I also realize im in the minority on this and most people don't like or can't handle decisions. In real life, changing something about you physically or changing your name is a big deal, and you can't just do it on a whim, such should be the case here. Any name change service or sale of fantasia should come with a significant price and a time restriction.

At this point I think your just wanting to punish people. This isn't real life. This is a fantasy game people play for fun

Name change are needed because of Fantasia Potion allow you to change Race and Gender. Either don't have this in the Fantasia Potion or have a name change come with it. Does not make any sense. Seeing how limited they are giving out Fantasia Potion and so rared, I don't think it would be that big of a deal to change your name.

Probably just do it so you can only change every one or 3 Months to prevent abused of continuing changing your name.

If SE decides to add the feature to change your name with your appearance and gender when you expend your potion, then the choice of what name to give to your character would probably weigh just as heavily as the first name given, especially when changing races. Hell my name is Xeval Novoxus, it took me months until relaunch to think of it, if I decided to be a female lallefel I wouldn't be able to enjoy my character because the name is just... so... off to me lol. I feel the potion and the name change should compliment each other. At the very least I'd argue this idea and the ability to change your name via a fee separately, as the frequencies of changing your name is 1 time ever vs. as many times as you virtually please.

Name change should be allowed just not frequent. Not sure why there's a problem with this. If the argument is to prevent the game from going to real money fees for services outside of the subscription then be more specific. I would rather not pay money and make it cost GC seals or a bunch of Gil. The gil option is my preferred method as I'm a fan of low inflation and no cash shop.

At the bare minimum one name change should be allowed.

If the Cash Shop doesn't effect the game in anyway or make a person have more of an advantage, why does it matter? Surely, a person paying for a name change if he chose is a service and optional. Cash shop is ok as long as it Server Transfer, Name Change, Fantasia Potion, etc.

Yes to name change with a cool down and retaining the blacklist status.

I could not disagree more. I wish to Change to a male from a female character and my name is by no means outlandish or silly. Why should I need to be stuck with the female name because some people have fun names? You want to limit every one based on a few people's actions. That is wrong and senseless.

Do we have to have 2 names for our toons? First name + last name? Any way to have just one?

Name changes probably should have been included with the fantasias that were given out, but i don't think they should be available separately from that. The same reasons you can't do that in real life are the same reasons why you shouldn't be able to in the game. There must be a lengthy cooldown and cost associated with it. I don't want to see a revolving door of name changes, it will only contribute to making the community more toxic. That said, I accept there are specific circumstances when a name change is absolutely necessary (as in your case).

I would be ok with just having a one-time name change with the fantasia potion!

That's exactly how I feel about it. The fact you can change your gender but not your name along with it is just a terrible idea. Either take off the gender change option or add in the name change. It's that simple.

Reasons why name change SHOULD be available!

1: name change is already possible by changing servers anyways, you just change twice but that’s an unnecessarily annoying process.

2: Profit for SE

3: you’re selfish

4: The potion allows players to change their sex but not there name, this has no logic.

5: you’re selfish

6: Players characters are linked to their forum name anyway so you can find out who they are if you really care that much.

7: There also in your blacklist, friends-list, linkshell so forth so it's not that hard to guess who they are.

8: Most players don't wish to change their name because of reputation and just that they wanted to change their character, but honestly who really cares enough about what someone else dose or there reason for it? Does it affect your game-play so much that you feel the need to restrict an option that could make alot of players have a more enjoyable experience?

9: If players are caught botting they would be banned no matter what there name is, changing there name wouldn't stop that. Reports to there account would still be in effect.

Since I feel it needs to be said. Character data in a database isn't going to be looked up on by the character name for f sake. If you blist someone, I would hope, it blists them by their internal id or guid such that if their name changes, they're still blisted. Having fantasia be able to change your gender but not your name seems silly. Obviously if i were to change my character to a guy, i wouldn't want to keep the name Valarice.
