I am so sorry to sidetrack the thread, but I have to say this:
Your Lala is ADORABLE! :)
Edit: Holy crap, I get home from work, reload a few threads and your adorable Lala is gone :(

Everyone has access to shards starting at level one mining and botany. Level your main to 10 and get your gathering job and go get your shards and stop complaining. If your too lazy to farm your shards the go visit the market, find a friend to work a deal with, or don't craft. This is nothing new to the final fantasy mmo series. Level ones could farm shards as any class in XI...for that matter shards just fell into your inventory for killing monsters while you level up. Xiv lets you get shards as level one and its just as easy as XI was. The rtm's are trying the shard market true, so don't buy from them. If the Market looks suspiciously like an rtm is selling something, buy from a legit player.
So play the darn gathering class. Its not like you need to level them up much at all for shards.Quote:
She's saying in general. Right now, there's no reliable way for anyone except gathering classes to get shards/crystals/clusters.
As a gatherer I'd rent myself, but no way would it be less than 20K an hour as I can make that quite comfortably.
I'm more than happy to gather Shards for coin (even if I'm getting no XP) but there are much better mats to gather. It seems that always find something I can sell at 200 gil or more per unit, a least for now.
I'm just saying that if you're short of gil, it's easy to gather and your coin will quickly recover. In the mid twenties as a botanist you can level on the crystals and collect shards at the same time at nodes where the crystals don't pop.
You are making an assumption that is simply not true. I sometimes gather too much of an item and then find the price has crashed which forces me to sit on stock, as soon as the number of sellers starts to drop and the prices go up I will sell full stacks to maximise my return as quickly as possible.
I actually enjoy gathering which I know some people find odd, but then I find the thought of Fate grinding pretty odd. Some people are fast tracking their levels whilst I'm having fun making coin. Although I've seen many bots I'm sure on Cerberus that there are far more real-players gathering than bots.
If RMT is reduced to selling level 1 items that have an infinite supply in the game, I'd say SE has already won.
this x 100!
someone mentioned it in another thread that these seem to follow this:
x is needed for y
i don't want to do y
i want y
therefore i should be able to get y without doing x.
complaining you can't gather without a gathering class is like complaining you have to be close to the enemy when playing a melee class.
and you hear this argument too:
"in most mmos the gathering class is unimportant"
and i feel that is what these people want, they want the gatherer and crafters to be completely irrelevant, they want to gather with combat classes and get all gear they need with combat classes and do everything with nothing but combat classes.
I mined 2 k shards per day 500 each round takes me 40-50 mins. It is so easy. Just pop some dungeons in between. Or you can kill those wind/fire/snow spirits for shards. Why some ppl are just so lazy?
500-1000 shards are gatherer by DOL 50 in one hour.
Craft a pre-relic weapon time cost 2-3 mins and his price around 25k-30k gils
I prefer waste my time going to the market, buy 100 shards at 30 gil each and craft it than go to the nodes and pick shards. Only i do when i am bored or watching football, anime, film, etc...
Unlucky, RMT earn gil to sell, btw if they don't supply market, the price of the shards will be expensive and force to crafter to gathering it.
The option is ban bots and the market will be filled by humans.
it is quite more than that, most things in armor craft cost 2-3 plates per, a kite shield costs 3 cobalt plates, a cobalt rivet, and something else. That means i need 7 ingots which cost 5 ice shards each, so thats 35 shards for the ingots, 20 shards to convert them into what i need, and then 5 ice shards and 6 earth shards for the final combine. Thats 66 shards just for one synth. so i can spend an hour getting 500ish shards that i will go through in a matter of minutes or buy off the market board and take a bit of profit reduction.
I don't care about them making it easier to get them, i care more about the fact there is tons of rmt bots warp hacking from point to point auto farming shards. When i go to the market board i always try to buy shards from someone who doesn't seem rmt (ie not selling 10 stacks of 1000 shards)
I just use that 400 gp shard bonus (3 shards per swing) and do it when you get the extra attempt, bam 15 right there then farm herbs or mats for other stuff till the gp goes back up to 400 then boom (goes the dynamite) 15 more. Doesn't take too long that way : )
I think a good way to fix this is change the exp that shards give, since higher gathering points happen to have shards make the shards at those points higher level and yield an extra 1-2, ie shards at lvl1-10 yield one shards and are level 1-10, shards at 11-20 points are 11-20 and yield two per. This would encourage DoL to to harvest shards for exp providing a better balanced market
But it is also contingent on them banning all the mine bots out there and removing a large amoutn of the rmt shards in the market. This would keep the price they are at which is some what reasonable while encouraging disciples of land to harvest shards
in version 1.0 you could do shard from fishes.
Why do you need to level? Pick up a Weathered Pickaxe, or a Weathered Hatchet. Boom, you're getting shards. This is FFXIV's Beehive Chips. This is how beginning players (well, those who have gotten to level 17, so they have a retainer to sell with) get some money in their pocket.
Which was a terrible introduction to alchemy, it's a good thing they removed that. It was much better with the old cluster to crystals and crystals to shards without the fish to all of them good old HQin'g a cluster to crystal synth and getting back 4 clusters instead lol.
But they should at least make it so you can get shards randomly from gathering itself like in 1.0 and still have the selectable shards for if you want to purely focus on gathering the shards
RMT bots have a huge advantage over players in the area of shards, because bots don't give a damn about their exp. Shards need to give better exp so players don't feel like they're wasting time gathering them.
Because once RMT are gone shards will skyrocket in price. There needs to be more way to gain an item in such high demand. You can use up 1k shards in 30 mins of crafting at 50. Enemies need to drop shards again and fishing + cooking needs shard synth as well as alchemy needing a cluster to crystal and crystal to shard synth.
Also the fact that shards are the best gil/hour right now as a 50 miner/botanist shows it will be even better once RMT are gone, meaning leveling mining/botany is a waste of time. That's bad design, higher level should equal more gil.
Greetings,
The Special Task Force is not only combating RMT solicitation, but they're also taking action against users who use teleport cheats to gather and battle over and over. The team has been looking over every report submitted and taking action against users found to be involved in RMT activity, so we greatly appreciate you continued efforts in reporting these players.
What?
So your saying crabbing a pick axe as a level 1 miner and farming 300+ shards an hour is difficult and not efficient?
Man... Ever played FFXI? In ffxi the only way to get crystals was off Elementals (Sprites) that spawned in various places under certain weather conditions and every crafter needed 1 crystal per synth just like this game...
This game is 100000* easier when it comes to getting shards...
"Give an inch, want a mile" I guess.
And how large is this "Special Task Force"? It's been weeks and I still see the same old people spamming my /tell and /shout. My blacklist is getting larger by the day.
Yeah sometimes they have really weird names and othertimes i'm too busy to have to open a blacklist, memorize the complete gibberish these guys PUT in their names, and type said gibberish into blacklist. If im getting spammed by tells i obviously have to take the time to do that, but if Square Enix would simply add an option to right click -> blacklist i wouldn't be experiencing this problem.
It's really only awful for cooking. You need 5-6 of 2 types of shards for a single piece of food, and food is made in large quantities so yeah....
It's extremely imbalanced for cooking. I would be fine with just lowering the shard amount needed for food.
It's not nearly as bad for the other crafts IMO.
What can be done to stem the tide of the gill seller spam? They are somehow able to send /t to us players and spam goldseller sites - Normally they get blacklisted, but something has to be done now to end their annoying spam.
Please assist.
There's actually situations where the blist filter gets overwhelmed and the shout/tell gets through because they're spamming it so fast.
That there-in lies the problem too. It's great that SE is taking action on the accounts, but the speed is really the main thing here. If RMT can make the sale and transfer of goods for RL profit before a handful of accounts get deleted (which isn't going to take more than a day to complete said transaction), then there's lasting reason for them to just keep coming back. Measures need to be taken to stop them immediately, in order to discourage involvement of such activities. I do fully realize that immediate measures is not a realistic possibility, and that's where we end up in a losing state to RMT.
From the viewpoint of RMT, if I were to try to make any financial gain IRL from RMT activity that offsets game purchase costs, you'd be damn sure it'd be worthwhile to continue doing. Now throwing in the frequent hacked accounts, that time spent profiting is just all the more alluring. If however my activities were stopped before sales could be made/completed, then the only worthwhile action is to rely on hacked accounts. Which isn't that reliable to begin with.
Erm, sorry to correct you, but it was way easier than that. All you had to do was have signet/sanction on you and then crystals would drop from *any* defeated enemies. It was made even easier by being able to buy Signet Staffs so you could get signet at any time if you forgot to get it and then you could just carry on doing whatever you wanted and getting crystals was a by product you didn't even have to think about :)
FFXI Crystal Farming = Sky where all elementals are up all the time.
Plus, everyone who had signet/sanction got a crystal or crystals for killing mobs. The AH was usually bursting with them. I just got lvl 20 Botanist and can use an AMAZING 400 GP to get three shards per swing. 400 freakn GP. You know how long that takes to regen? FFXI Crystal Farming was far FAR easier.
I really miss signet, sanction, sigil, whatever era the buff from guards were issued. That would help a lot too if we could get some kinda gaurd buff similar.
Thanks for the laugh Camate. Myself and the telehack bot 4 other people and I reported over 24 hours ago with no action taken got a good giggle. I personally without cheating can get around 500-600 shards per hour. So Im sure a bot can beat that but even if not, they will have farmed about 12,000 shards in that time and still going strong for who knows how long.
I saw a dev comment that RMT activities are being responded to with a permanent ban, but the same report also mentioned that many such account were in fact real player accounts that had been hacked. Are you perma-banning legitimate players whose accounts are hacked and then used to spam rmt ads? I understand that password protection is a user responsibility, but banning someone who had the misfortune to have their account hacked seems to me to be pretty unfair.
At the very least, give us the ability to right click on a name and add it straight to the blacklist. As I type this there are at least THREE gilsellers shoutspamming the hell out of Ul'dah - Steps of Thal on Hyperion. Something needs to be done faster about this problem, because it's only getting worse instead of better. There are so many new names added to the RMT list on a daily basis that sending reports gets tedious and time-consuming. Some people have given up reporting them at all for this very reason and have resorted to simply blacklisting them and moving on.
