This is what I was thinking. You can already get an idea of the popularity of a post by the lack of thumbs up as much as you can with them. If it's not getting votes then it is either unpopular or not vote-worthy comment.

Dislike buttons just get people's opinions buried, often unwarranted. I think the system we have now is fine.
