This!!
Just now joined titan hard with a JP party. I was guaranteed first to die due to this issue every single time (Killed by Weight of Land every-time). So embarrassing. I guess I am pretty much got blacklisted from the team for dying a lot.
Took damage before titan used Weight of Land

Even gathering has delays:

Have not finish mining, yet already "no longer sense any unspoiled gathering points"

It's just ridiculous that in 2013 a MMO can't have a server figuring out your position properly.
It isn't people their connections, it's SE their servers and programming nothing else.
If this would be normal people would have this in other MMO's as well, which isn't the case.
Besides the whole technical aspect is pointless anyway.
Stuff isn't working period.
- When I cancel a cast 0.4 seconds before it goes off it should cancel, but no here I just finish my cast
- Same deal goes for interruptions
- When you are out of a circle you are out, there should not be a special rule on encounters 'you need to be out 1 second before the cast is done'
- Instant spell should be instant, it's in the word when I cast a hot it takes 2 seconds before it shows up on the target
Nothing else matters, content should not be nerfed but SE should sort their servers out.
Yes you can learn how to play with 1 to 1.5 second delay on everything and ignore what is shown on your screen.
But the question would be, is it fun?
I don't think it is.
Also this problem has been there since atleast Beta, they know it and they didn't fix it.
Now it is under 'accepted bug' but are people expected to sub until they finally bother fixing it.
If they can even fix it at all.
SE thinks this is dark souls MMO... either host some fking servers in EU or fix titan, ppl are getting killed by AOE left and right 24/7... cba trying a 100 times till i find the right group to do it with.
Can not play a game with 500ms delays. Thank god I wasn't foolish enough to subscribe.
Yea this really can't keep going...
Yoshida ain't doing anything about the problems, they promissed SO MUCH and yet now the game is unplayable.
I can't believe i just can't do any high level dungeons because i'm EUROPEAN.
YES, they didn't bother getting ANY GOOD local servers in Europe, so that we get the WORST LATENCY.
Each time i think i avoided some aoe, I GET IT STRAIGHT IN THE FACE > with some discrimination on Europeans.
Thanks Square, thanks for making the game hate us... if this isn't going well in 1 month, i'm leaving and so are my whole guild...
Ill throw my 2 gil in. I usually dont have a problem dodging AOEs, but every once in awhile its obvious I dodged it but then I get hit. So, something is strange with locating the character on server vs on my screen. Maybe extending cast times or increasing the server check from .3 to .1 or .05.
Right people say it's all fine, can you please be so kind to record me you casting anything and cancelling it and post it here?
Do you get something like this?
Since this is normal when playing a MMO online.

Also the guy casting in WOW has between 100 and 200 ms while casting.
The experience I have in ARR is not even remotely close yet ms shows to be the same.
It's a Position issue. On client side you look like your fine but if you ask the people in your group they will probably tell you, you were in the red. I find it could still be due to server checks, but when doing Garuda for story quest I died a couple time behind the pillars but the group told me I was not behind it. So I am going to guess that sometimes that we are in fact not in sync with the client. This may require a video of this happening on your side and with a party member to compare. If this is in fact what's happening that would have to be sent up to SE from there.
I am beginning to think this is not a server check error as what the issue was in beta but client and server not in sync with are actual Position.
You ARE bad and you should feel bad.
On another note: Dont presume to speak for the rest of us, claiming that the game is broken with such mechanics and needs to be fixed. Most of us do fine after learning to watch/react faster to such things. I cant stand it when someone claims something doesnt work as its intended just bcoz they cant do it. This is/has been the case in just about every mmo ive played the last 15+ years since EQ1 days and through my 9-10 yrs in ffxi, wow etc etc.
Edit: Ask you ISP about upgrading from dial-up to broadband, i've heard great things about it :)
There are obvious issues sometimes with server positioning check. But all you have to do is know when Titan is about to do his moves and start moving before they cast. If you run Titan enough you will learn his rotations and it is easy to dodge them at that point.
While not a game-breaking issue for me, it's still probably the most annoying thing I've encountered in the game so far. If I'm out of the red area it's a fault in the game or something if it hits me. But it's definitely not the players fault. I have no idea though whether this behavior in the game is due to high latency for European players or what, but it definitely does happen and it needs to be fixed. And for those who say "Upgrade your network" to anyone who suffers from this issue, I really hope they understand that this happens even with very high speed connections. (I play with 100Mbps)
If they can't fix the issue (which I hope they can), then they should make the red areas larger than what they really are.. It'd be far less annoying to think you're going to be hit but then you'd miraculously would avoid it. (Just kidding, not really suggesting this.) ^^
Most of the people here believes that this a "skill issue" sigh... we're talking about delayed aoe's because of the server or latency. My internet is 6mbs and even if I dodge an attack before the boss casts it, I still get hit.
I'm on a 120/10 connection with near-perfect connectivity but fail to dodge AoE's almost ALL the time. Getting hit up to 3 seconds AFTER leaving the AoE field is just bollocks. On my archer, the only thing that helps is constantly being on the move.
This is partially to blame that I play on a JP data server (I had no other choice at the time) from Europe, though. But I doubt transferring to a NA/EU server will make it any better inside instances.
Umm.. What? Why would it have to happen to everyone? There's even been videos posted of this issue on this topic which are quite good evidence that this issue exists.Quote:
Explain:
How can a lot of people avoid AoE and LoS then? If there truly is an issue NO ONE would be able to - NO one.
I've noticed these things too, I got used to it and don't have much trouble avoiding it now though.
Here in australia, we got nightmare level latency.... I would clearly stepped out and even wait fr a bit before the attack was launched ans still getting hit...
I got latency problem even in WoW, but with a little practice, its still manageable... This game on the other hand... Its just....
Well..... I guess im either bad or not pro enuff...
As others have also suggested on here using a skill while you're out of the aoe instead of waiting for it to go off can sometimes help. This explains a lot of the dismissive replies from melee classes since the constant flow of abilities may be keeping their position more accurate. This is conjecture on my part but even fighting regular monsters out in the world this seems to be the case.
The white knights and fanboys in this thread make me really sad, seriously what do you have to win by defending SE? They aren't going to give you free shit or anything like that. It's obvious that this is an issue by the amount of reports we have seen both on the forums and reddit, and only the developers can say for sure what it is exactly, but it's not only lag i think that's pretty clear at this point, I have 70ms to the servers and I still suffered from this.
Knowing the following two things helped me manage this fight:
1. run well beyond the bounding area so you don't get hit, and do so immediately
2. the closer you are to Titan/the middle of the arena, the more likely that you won't get knocked off the platform if all else fails
There's also this:
3. your internet connection is hopefully not awful
I've seen so many people rage-quit on this battle after a handful of wipes. It's a huge spike in difficulty over what's in the game before it. Though, it's also incredibly fun, too.
With positioning update as long as it is, sometimes you get lucky and your position gets updated when you are outside of the aoe before it goes off, sometimes you dont. In titan hard, the only real way to survive that fight is to remember the pattern and move early. If you move right when the ground aoe appears under you, you might escape and you might not, depends on if you get location update lucky. This really goes for every fight where there is a aoe attack indicator that you have some kind of chance to avoid it. You just cant predict when they will happen in every fight tho. This is by no means an excuse to leave it like it is.
Doesn't help that there is still a delay between when the cast bar shows and when the ground aoe appears.
Sometimes I have the same problem. It's very frustrating. Yesterday, the same thing happened to me in the last boss of Stone Vigil. I dodged the ice attack but I got hit.
And I have a good internet connection:

First:
SE did NOT fix ANYTHING. They put a band aid on it by making your position register as just a dot at your characters center as opposed to a circle around your entire character. This gives you more leeway when dodging, but doesn't even begin to address the abysmal delay that is not caused by internet connection (My ping is under 30ms on a high end PC getting a constant 60fps)
As it stands, the server calculates your position when it feels likes it. SE refuses to fix (or is incapable of fixing) the problem but continues to make content where dodging and action oriented gameplay are essential.
It is the worst in any MMO. Try playing 2 characters side by side and you'll see that people see you a full second behind how you see yourself. Its not the internet.... Its the PROGRAMMING (or lack thereof).
Go look at TERA... it's a shitty game, for sure, but if you play 2 screens side by side, you'll notice that you see the other persons movements in pretty much real time with no delay. So I guess a shitty F2p MMO is exempt from inevitable internet latency but FFXIV is not.
For that reason, anyone blaming internet or even 200ms ping is uninformed and misguided.
200ms ping =/= over 1 second of lag. And if you think it does, you need to check your math.
Everyone has this problem.
I beat Titan easily every time though. In fact, I have a couple Allagan pieces and my friends and I are at the end of Bahamut's coil, so I'm not some player who can't beat it complaining. We beat Titan easily ONLY because we know the pattern and know what's coming. That makes for a pretty boring fight tbh.
Scripted Primal battles are stupid.... but I guess necessary when your game was programmed by rookies
Heres what I see: Some people here are unsuccessful while others are extremely successful about 50/50 judging from what i've skimmed on this thread…. What does that tell us? It tells us that this boss is not only beatable but requires a level if skill that perhaps you should take an the opportunity to practice or be more aware of your surroundings. If others can do it and with little to no issues then theres no reason you can't without practice. Endgame content is not supposed to be easy. If you're not good accept it and get better
There is no "ambiguity" with aoe in this game and if you haven't figured it out how aoes work in this game, you aren't very observant. The aoe you have to move away is from the cone/circle. As soon as the enemy is done casting, it makes the red go away. As soon as the red is gone, you can go back to where you were regardless of if the animation has gone off or not. So in other words, you have the time it takes for the enemy to finish the cast and NOT the time it takes for the animation to go off.
You know what would be a neat way to help this issue? If SE put in a double-tap-to-dodge-roll feature.
Its not about easy vs hard. It's about being able to rely on what you see on the screen as accurate. At this point, that is not possible
Remember that time you were absolutely wrong?
And at 32, what engame AOE are you referring to?
That's right, run along, the grown ups are talking
Actually you have to be out at least one full second before the casting bar finishes. You'd know that if you weren't completely blinded by your own smugness
I really don't understand your predicament, the only 2 (partial) AoE's you can avoid are the frontal cone AoE and the frontal Line AoE, all the rest are unavoidable. If oyu are having problems avoiding the partial AoE's, then I am sure the problem is at your end, not server side. I was able to avoid those 2 attacks 100% of the time unless I was goofing off.
it is funny that even though people said that titan only takes skills yet i dont see people who killed titan queue for him again.
I'd be interested to see how many of those complaining are playing on servers halfway across the world. I'm only level 37 but I have no problem dodging quick timers at all. For one thing I'm a maraduer who never stops moving, but still. I can't see it being that difficult as long as your in the right region and don't have horrible Internet.
You shouldn't have to be clairvoyant to play a game, also most runs that fail first time disband so learning the fight can be hard especially with pug groups.
Overall though we shouldn't be sat here saying "this is ok, learn the fight" when the game is obviously broken for some people, this needs to be fixed.
What happens when/if they add fights that have no pattern ?
What region is the correct region for EU players ?, because all EU servers are in Canada.
Actually they said some aspects of inaccurate aoe will be addressed and some should have been addressed as soon as beta was over, I hope this isn't final.
Also there seems to be accepted bug reports about this, as mine got into the "duplicate bug" section: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...87#post1229987
Whether AOEs CAN be dodged or not is irrelevant at this point. The fact that what you see on screen does not accurately represent whats going on is the problem.
Imagine your boss told you to come to work at 8am. You show up promptly at 7:50am, only to be reprimanded for being 5 minutes late.
You'd complain, not because you are incapable of getting to work 15 minutes early, but because if he wanted you there at 7:45, he should have said 7:45.
That's all we're saying. If the AOE circle and casting bar REALLY end a second before the screen says they do, then SE has failed. Case closed
(By the way... that was the best FFXIV delay analogy you'll ever see)
