Legacy Markets: Total Disaster Area- Call FEMA

I gotta concur on this point, I was selling a decent HQ item for 50k a pop for 5 days, suddenly someone puts 5 up for sale in singles 31k each. Who the hell looks at the going rate and undercuts it by almost 40 percent? Crafters of Hyperion, you are shooting yourself in the foot with this business. Basically the only good money left is on fleece, due to the literal cargo ship worthy amount you need to make anything and the 7 whole sheep in the game who drop it.

I wish they would lower the item requirement (slightly) to make the base materials for 2 Star items so that only the truly dedicated crafters could knock out some HQ's and not have the market flooded with cheap goods.

A lot of poeple here have discover the problem, the difficulty. The game is way to easy so there is no point to buy new equipement. So crafting item from 1-50 is useless because i can destroy the storyline and Sidequest without good gear. Same whit end game pretty easy to farm dungeon to get Tombstone to buy much better equipement then 95% of the crafting item.

When i heard that Titan/Dungeon/etc are hard, sry my caracter was only gear whit item from storyline it was not that difficult. And fate Zergfest don't help, get lvl 50 in 3-4 day is pretty easy whit bad low lvl gear.

Yep the prices are crazy low on Hyperion and makes me not even want to bother with it.

I finally took the time yesterday to get my level 50 BSM and ARM from 1.0 up to date and did the quest lines for them. Looked up the recipes for the crafter AF for each and saw they mostly required leatherworker or weaver and thought to myself I was never going to be able to get them without leveling more crafting classes. Check the market and my jaw dropped. Most of the pieces were selling for 5-7k! LOL. The most expensive piece was only 20k that I paid for. I decked out both ARM and BSM in level 50 AF and didn't even put a dent in my gil. This is top of the line crafting gear people!

Not sure what Im going to do with those classes but at least I will look good when I have to switch and repair my gear.

no-one, and I mean no-one, has completed the end game dungeon yet (bahamut dungeon). some have gone to turn 4 (out of 5). I think most WoW expansions have been beaten in less time (1.0 players exist to speed it up--check how many 2.0 players are clearing bahamut coil and I'd bet it's a LOT less than 1.0 players). You think titan is end-game, hard mode? it's not; it's more if an introduction to the real end-game raiding scene.

A few reasons why Auction House fails:

- Bazaar's are great for player economy, you can sell exotic goods at great prices, common goods at cheap bulk prices, and everything inbetween. Removing bazaar just removes most identity from those playing the economy game and crafters alike.

- Market Wards was already a perfect system. If you went to the right place, you got what you needed quickly and cheaply. Designer retainers actually mattered. (In Realm Reborn, its only for YOU to see).

- You offer 1 main quest line, which can gear up a class all the way to 50, with dungeon runs enchancing your set. You have no need for crafters on your first run through. Second run through you have 1 city's area will gear you up to 40+. 3rd run through, another city's areas quests get you up to 40+ gear. And then another city also available to gear you to 40+ easily. This with an Auction House, is poor planning.

The craft based gear that is comparable to what you can obtain with the tomes themselves is the issues. A market could exist but it doesn't because it just takes to much to make the gear when said person would just be better off using the tomes to get the gear itself.

What they should of considered is actually having a way for the crafted gear to be item lv 65 when NQ and item level 70 when HQ. Then reduce the amount of materials needed to 3 from the tomes that I believe cost 125 each, at least then players would see this as a reasonable investment, it cost less to do and the HQ rate would be slightly higher since less materials are being used.

But when given the choice between just getting a guaranteed item or having one crafted that at this moment just takes to much to make players will focus on the easier route of just farming 100+ tomes a time til they get what they need rather than taking that 1125 tomes at the chance of a piece of gear that takes half the tomes to purchase.

Quick example, Darklight gloves of healing cost 495 tomes to obtain, to craft the equivalent, Vanya gloves of healing takes 9 Potash to synth the base material needed for it, which is 1125 tome investment. While yes one can buy these materials it just isn't working atm because people would much rather focus on obtaining the gear themselves and when they put said items into perspective the 1125 investment to craft a piece of gear that only cost 495 tomes to obtain, the odds of a person buying said item are low because they would much rather take the time to do 5 runs at 100 tomes each to get the gloves then to spend the 500k-1mil to obtain an item of equivalent item level value.

A couple thoughts:

1. Gathering takes 0 skill and gives too many gathering attempts per node still.
2. Leveling a craft is ridiculously easy.
3. HQing items is too easy.
3. The market is saturated with materials and items thanks to 1,2, and 3.
4. Lack of diversity in items limits the already hampered market. The lack of attributes and stats is mostly to blame for this imo. No "enhances x ability", regen, etc to add to gear.

To OP:

You are absolutely correct. I really don't know how to heal the economy, typically it will balance itself over time. Remember we have a lot of people doing the same thing at the same time (trying out gathering and mining) because of the new mechanics. This has flooded the markets with similar things. As for crafting we saw this coming. Yoshi has handed gear over on a platter, why would anyone buy anything off the market board? I just took a few jobs to pretty close to 40 with out buying 1 piece of gear! I have never played a game that slapped crafters in the face so hard. I mean why go through so much trouble with crafting gear design if they were going to be worthless. Looks like it was all for vanity just like everything else in this game. Looks great but very little substance. We all saw this coming a mile away, so I am happy to announce. I told you so.

The Orange made me LOL, So many people AFK with their glowing Relic+1 weapons, decked out in AF+1 on Hyperion... I see them all over Ul'dah and even camps. Coeurl isn't Hyperion.

I see a lot of people from Hyperion agreeing with me in this thread.. which is actually more troubling.. This is one of those cases where I don't want to be right :/


One thing that would have been really good.. was make all quest armor unsellable... If something is given in a quest (which is basically anything decent 1-50) I see hundreds up for rock bottom prices.


We need some way to dump our gear.. a trade in, Materia no longer works to blow things up.
I'm even missing that in 1.0.. because at least there you knew there was always great demand for raw materials, for either spirit bonding parties, or blowing up stuff multi-melding... None of which I see happening in ARR..


The NPC price for everything is ridiculously low, combined with how simple it is to amass a huge number of things in your everyday life just walking across the world.. I just don't see any "gear sink" that will fix this issue.

So Garuda was easy? Eikon with no experienced people in your group was easy?
Hard modes are easy?

Maybe their not insanely hard, but I wouldn't call them easy. Our group wiped for 90 minutes on garuda, but I don't read up on fights. I like to go in blind and develop my own strat. Watching a video on youtube so I can one shot it feels like cheating to me.

But back on topic... The games 3/4 weeks old. The market is going to fluctuate a lot. There will likely be patches to addresses hicupps here and there. Eventually it will stable out.

I sure see a lot of people from new worlds voicing their opinions in here, and not listening to the Hyperion players that totally agreeing that our Markets are a flood of crap with no end in sight; and you guys really should because this is your future.


There are a million gil sinks, and very few people buying anything on the markets... that's an alarming situation.

Totally.

Also with the uncertainty of the economy, why would someone shell out any more than 10k for any piece of gear, not knowing if 10k will be alot of money or not. When they could just grind for the darklight in a few days/weeks and ride out the economic storm selling everything they can in the process getting ready for total price collapse of what used to be good prices.

Crafting is not intended to be a money maker, crafting was intended to create items for yourself and your FC, just because you arent making millions of gil via ripping people off on the market doesnt mean crafting is broken

If that were true, what in the hells are the market boards for?

demand & supply

if that item really is that great, people will buy all of them at low price.

and when it sold out of the market, people will need to restock them to the market, if it's a rare items, it will be hard to restock so the price will go up.

but if the price stay low for long time, it means that's the right price for that item.

My primary source of gil has been coming from selling stuff i make on my culinarian. I buy all my material off the marketboard thanks to all the gatherers undercutting each other, i've found that you can tell about what lvl most of the gatherers are on my server by looking at the abundance of certain items (what they are grinding exp off of). I eagerly await for lvl 40+ mat prices to drop once these gatherers lvl up further. Now if only people could sell crystals at reasonable stack sizes/prices

Are the materia the items turn into a better choice for gil then selling the item itself?

Spiritbond party. Wear it yourself, run some dungeons with the Spiritbond +# jewelry and turn it into materia for now until the items prices stabilize.

Sometimes I wonder if the issues with FATEs are what's causing all these problems.

You know I said this would happen in my thread about them taking away the feature to buy singles from stacks.

I don't see this issue going away, people will always undercut, SE need to put in floor prices to stop items going below a certain point because its clear the players have no idea of how to run an economy.

And for the Love of god stop selling items in 99's people !

Well I feel a bit stupid about that becasue I had like 3kk Gil and I bopught a lot of stuff in the AH just to sell it for 10Gil eache becasue i didn't know what to do with my money and I wanted to see if it affects the economy funny.. it has lol ^^

I am very sorry guys seems that I destroyed that income on my server .. I am really regreting my decision.. But it was .. fun at least the first hour ..

The issues isn't player pricing it's the sheer abundance of items in the first place. Market prices would be able to stabalize if it wasn't so damned easy to get items at least then the under cutters would sell out and dissapear from the market for a while making it so people had to purchase the higher priced items in a supply/demand market.

The supply is much too high, while the demand is even less. The de-emphasis on crafters being able to make anything worthwhile to endgame players also plays a large roll in this as well.
