You can be angry here, sure, but it's really not going to do you a bit of good. I also never once said "deal with it", so I'm really not sure who you're talking to here, but it seems clear to me from your response that you're just looking to have a fit about this until it gets fixed when I was legitimately trying to hold your hand and show you the answers you were asking for.

I have seen SE respond to posts on the tech support forum and truly that is what the goal is. It will stay bumped because enough people are pissed about it (I get to play but I am upset because my friends sit there hitting refresh all the time). If even there is a slight chance that they would comment on here (it has happened) then this thread will stay bumped. This is a tech support forum after all and this is a technical issue.

And your question has been answered, so chances of anyone responding to your particular thread are zilch. But have fun trying.

No I get what you're saying. But I can make the assumption that you did create a character and have been able to play since you are posting on a lvl 30 arcanist. Which means you have been able to play. The ones I am posting for have been unable to do even that. Granted they COULD go create a fakey character on a diff server just to play the game but who wants to waste their time?

The question has not been answered. What they stated is they are going to be doing what they did last week again. They never said "everyone who is unable to create a character will be able to on tuesday" or anything remotely close to that. That is what people want, and that is what people need. They don't need a "yeah we upgraded our stuff last week and let a few more people in but sorry if you still cant play we're gonna do round 2 a week from now again, and maybe get a few more people in and we will keep repeating this until everyone is in or everyone has gotten fed up and left." Thats their message, obviously.

I'm siding with pctech86 here. He is right in the fact that the recent announcement was basically the same thing as the announcement following the Tues/Wed. maintenance, which didn't alleviate the problem. The one thing that I see helping is next week when they implement an AFK kick timer, but at that point, it will have been 1-3 weeks for some people already. Even then, SE has been putting character creation restrictions in place manually, so does improved servers mean anything for character creation on the more populated ones? Not necessarily.

Also, I have to agree with his point of view of bumping this until a specific response about character creation is given. Right now I'm stuck between wasting my time at all hours of the day trying to make a character to even play the game vs. wondering if I should waste my time at all.

At this point, I also still do not have the 7 additional days applied to my account yet and no word if they're going to address that, so that's another thing that's depressing about sitting around and watching my initial month expire without playing.

People upset they can't choose the server they want would of hated FFXI at start where it auto-assigned you to a server.

What's been done wrong in the past should not be a motivation for complacency. Similar arguments were made when Diablo 3 turned out to be awful. "Well, Diablo 2 was boring (which is subjective in and of itself) until the expansions came out, so don't mind Diablo 3's quality now." Rubbish. With that experience, what makes good and bad decisions should be clearer, and previous mistakes should no longer be made.

Case in point, just because FF11 auto-assigned people to servers doesn't magically make it okay for the current situation with FF14. It doesn't take a master game designer or economist to see that restricting character creation in this manner is poisonous to the game. I imagine a large percentage of the population of this game will be from players accepting their friend's invitation to play with them. They won't be coming back in a month; the issue might have cleared up by then, but the damage will already have been done.

So... what exactly are you proposing? You understand the reason that the creation restrictions are in place, right? What do you think is going to happen if they open up creation on those specific, overloaded, servers?

I'm actually really okay with that. Make a character, get put into a queue, then you can go on with your life and you're notified when you log in or get an email if your character was finally squeezed into the server.

Personally I shouldn't have to suffer because I picked one of the six servers that's on lockdown 24/7 because I think Cactuars are rad.

Exactly. What's the point of a queue system if people aren't even able to get onto it?

And the really bizarre thing is, there are no queues on some of these supposedly overloaded servers. Friend of mine has been playing on Moogle (EU - constantly locked for new characters for the last week) and the longest queue he's seen since Wednesdays update is about 100 people. He can frequently log on at hours that are not particularly off peak and see no queue at all.

Yet a bunch of the rest of us have been stuck here for days not even being allowed to make characters on this server.

That's really all I'm asking for. As it is, I have to constantly keep checking the server list and hope that it becomes available randomly during the day or sit up all night / morning as I'm doing hoping that it pops up during dead times (which it hasn't). At least if I could make a character, I could see the queue's wait list and decide if I want to wait or do something else. Currently, I'm just waiting around, doing nothing, hoping that a server will pop up because some of them are doing exactly that.

Oh, and furthermore, if checking between 1 am and 8 am is yielding no luck during weekdays, what hope do I have to play at all this weekend when more people are able to get on and don't have work the next day?

The queue that pings the server consistently for every person in it. Really, until Square does more work on the servers, there's not much you can expect. Of course it should have been correctly prepared for, and that's SE's fault, but it wasn't and that's where we're at now.

What's bordering on criminal is the fact that I have purchased the game (with early access) and have been unable to create the character of my choice on Behometh because of these ridiculous restrictions they have placed on the servers. So, this now marks thirteen days of not being able to play (two weeks will be tomorrow). What's funny is they have decided to give me 7 additional days of play because of their past transgressions. I don't think they understand how much they are turning people in my situation off.

By the time they have worked this all out (and that's assuming they do within the next 2 or so months) is that by that time my mates will have already either moved onto another game or be so far ahead of me that adventuring with them will not be appealing, thus that window for playing the game with friends will have been lost. Can we safely say SE has shot themselves in the foot with this one?

That's one thing that gets me. Apparently Cactuar is soo~ full that no one can make new characters on it yet I can log in at almost any time of day and only have 5 people in the queue ahead of me at most (while other severs have close to 100)? Something doesn't add up.

Wow angry much? Its just a game. So what if you cant play with your friends on the server of your choice. I mean you are pretty much telling everyone here to delete there characters and gtfo so your friends can create a toon on your server. Won't work that way.

From all your post I've read, you need to accept the fact that you cant have what you want at this moment. Computers we'rent made in two weeks. Neither will your situation be resolved anytime soon. That glass is full, so go grab some cookies and start drinking.

That's really depressing as Cactuar is where I need to be. It would imply that all the other servers that are fluctuating between being available and unavailable are doing so based on population logged in while Cactuar is just manually locked.

I said that SE should give us a day and time when we WILL be able to choose our server to play on with our friends - so our friends are not stuck for hours and days and weeks on end clicking"refresh" every three minutes. Unless of course SE doesn't care about gaining or losing customers. Two weeks is a long time from the standpoint of - it's a fully released and paid for PRODUCT. This does not deliver. Pretty simple concept. Most people agree, it's pretty stupid that two weeks after release we still cannot play on the server we desire and SE has made ZERO comments on when we can expect this issue to be fully resolved. If you feel that it is unreasonable to expect communication from the company with which we just bought a product from then you my good sir, are in the extreme and idiotic minority.

Also most of you are forgetting - if you cannot create a character you cannot post on this forum. JUSTICE FOR THE VOICELESS HORDES OF PEOPLE UNABLE TO CREATE CHARACTERS. Also bump for a response from SE

This also. If they'd just say "you can create a character on Monday, guaranteed" then I wouldn't be spending my week clicking refresh.

Sorry to add fuel to this fire but I have been trying to join Siren for a few days now. Today is the first time that it does not have the "restriction" message when I select it. When I got to load it then gives the "character creation unavailable" message. It shows as available. So do we have to wait until next week to get onto the servers our friends are on or is it possible to get on at say 4am when everyone else is asleep? BTW I love how Devs at MMO launch say "We had no idea how popular our game would be! This is a huge surprise to us!" when all it comes down to is cheaping out and cutting costs at the expense of their customers...

Add as much fuel as you like! I'm trying to get SE to see that this is a major issue and there are many many more people who cannot complain because they cannot post. They at least need to give us a definite day for each server so people know and can get on with their lives until then. SE response please?

Better not be full! I was given 8 character slots of which I have 6 still theoretically available. Each world has a pop max of 40-60k. I want my other characters please.

I finally got onto Sargatanas through all the 1017 crap last week and was RIGHT at the end of making my tank character when SE shut down the new Char making ability. Right at the very moment I clicked the world to join it.

I also sympathize with those who have been trying to create characters since launch and have not yet been able to. My girlfriend has been trying to get into my server (behemoth) for a few days now and has not yet been able to. I find it incredibly ridiculous that their free 30 day trial timer has been running, even though they have not been able to play the game at all. I believe this adding of 7 days to everyone's subscription is nowhere near the appropriate compensation for the the inconveniences that many people have been faced with in terms of being able to play a game that was PAYED for. I mean if this sort of problem was in a free MMO, then I'm sure people would still be upset, but a lot more compliant in terms of being patient, but when you are actually paying real money for something you can't do anything with... then there needs to be a lot more compensation. 2 of my friends have been able to successfully join behemoth since I did, but my girlfriend is the last one, and has yet to be able to create a character, which is why I am posting this on her behalf, as she cannot post due to not currently possessing a created character. After seeing how full the servers got, as quickly as it happened, SE should have owned up to their mistake, shut down all the servers, suspended everyone's subscriptions, and sent a notice saying that they needed a week or so to upgrade their equipment cause they were not ready for this many people. Taking people's money, and not giving them really anything back for it, isn't right.

For those who have got into the game already, yes most things are fine and dandy, but for those who purchased the game at launch (or earlier) and have not been able to get into the game... to be told that they are being given 7 days extra for free is like a slap in the face because those 7 days have not even compensated for how long they have been waiting.

They've been posting that information for days, so I don't see how it means things will start to improve. They have not added any ETA on when worlds that have been locked for days will open, or even directly addressed the fact that several worlds have been locked for days on end. They could at the very least promise FREE transfers for those affected by this when transfers become available, so people could create characters on other worlds without concern of having to abandon them later or pay to resolve an issue caused by SE in the first place.

That's the issue here. 'Nearly'. 'Nearly' all the worlds except the one I want to play on are up by 11 pm. I work nights so I'm up until 4 am every day anyways, but it's been the same six realms that have been locked for more than 72 hours. I'm not going to bother playing this game if I can't play with my clique of friends.
