Id have left at 10%, they probably still killed it with 5% left.

YEah, but who wants to talk to people in an Massive MULTIPLAYER Online game? Sadly, there are so many people that think like this in mmos today. Its a testament to their understanding of what mmos are really all about that they behave this way. Let these fools burn themselves out grinding and smashing content being antisocial and they'll say this game is too easy or is full of casuals, and eventually the next new shiny will come out and they'll move on. I don't mind spending an extra amount of time if I know I'm getting the chance to show a green horn that mmo players are not all jaded min/maxers. Give this game a few months and hopefully we'll rid ourselves of a good majority of these types. Positive action garner positive reactions. Spread the good will and eventually we can win out over the angry and hateful players on our servers. Silence them with kindness. /hug
this story is great, i can imagine the crying and blame tossing afterwards, lol...
I would love to see the panic and chaos as the Ifrit beatdown insued
Best thread all day love it hahahaha
Thats awesome! lol. I wished this game would have the FFXI community (community was great in my 6yrs of playing), sadly as far as I can see so far, some "tough" guys are coming to ARR :/
That was actually me who left. I'm sorry about that, but at that point my patience had just worn way too thin after having to explain things a million times to people who wouldn't listen. Then came your group, which didn't answer when I asked if anyone was new (just so I knew if I had to explain yet again), and somehow wiped at the very first pull. I'm sorry, but that was just one of those "F it, I'm out of here" moments.
But hey, glad to read that at least you listened to the other guy on your next run and managed to clear it.
Stories like this are why I stick to crafting. :P
Awesome OP. Just awesome. Makes me want to play a tank. As a DPS, I do not have that kind of power... and I want that power.... -drool-
lmao. That was epic, they deserved it. To bad you didn't have it recorded.
You did it wrong. With the other tank, they probably killed him at 5%...You're supposed to leave as nails spawn...duh
Danny and I said we were new at the very beginning before I even started moving ><
I said 'So I'm new, strat?' and the other guy started telling us what to do. Whatever though, no hard feelings. I don't know how I died either on the first pull...
iirc someone, idk if it was you or the other guy, asked again if we were new when I was dead on the ground, and that's when people started leaving.
A total waste on people like that. If a player has such a bad attitude with the name calling and swearing etc. I honestly cannot imagine that they're any different in rl, meaning I believe they'll never learn or can understand why anyone actually thinks that it's rude to yell at someone in such a manner. I don't get why they actually take the time to write in chat. When I'm in a party with a (what I consider) bad tank/dd/healer I roll my eyes, say "my goodness" a few times to my cat if it's really horrible and pray that it's over fast. Why others bother insulting and swearing and complaining when at the beginning they didn't even manage a simple "Hello" is beyond me.
I don't doubt that the ones talking all this crap to you deserved it, but in situations like DF, you have to realize that you will never see these people again. I'm willing to bet at least 3-4 of the people you left to die (although if it was 5%, unlikely they wiped) didn't say one word to you.
I've had this happen many times in many games with LFG dungeons, where most of the people don't say anything, but one person talks enough crap to cause the tank or healer to screw over the entire group. You are screwing over 1/2 the group who didn't deserve it because your skin is too thin to look past the immaturity. In DF, just finish it and leave, as there is a very VERY small chance you will ever see them again, and I can guarantee you won't change how that person acts in the future.
In the off chance all seven other people in the group were talking crap as well, disregard this post.
People think there is no penalty for pissing ppl off in the duty finder but lodestone has a char search function and it isn't hard to track people down... I've had a healer that had a fit because the other people had gotten a bit upset at him for running ahead and pulling a bunch of mobs. I joined it in progress and the guy sat there and insulted them and even me who wasn't there at the start. Another person in a darkhold run started freaking on and saying they were reporting us and to enjoy our ban because I went to suicide a few chests and even though we told them not to follow they did anyways. They than pull 8 mobs onto us and call the healer a nub when they die followed shortly by everyone else. We were all level 50 except them which was level 46 or 47 using level 30 gear. I was in darklight so being called a nub by someone like that is just funny. I went and found their profiles on lodestone easy enough.
Well done OP! Can't believe people would stoop to that level to insult someone who wanted to make sure he was doing everything right. Wish you had a screenshot, so we could /blist those mofos. But either way, good job on not only making them eat their own words with your tanking ability, but also rubbing salt in their wounds.
This exactly! (except my EX took the cat so i cant roll the eys towards her :/). I know i am elitist for my own standards, but that doesnt stop me to help others or be nice.
All my classes are the same level roughly, so i played content 8 times sometimes more on each class and i know what a class can do or cant do :)
But i would never be rude to anyone. People dont learn if you insult them. They might learn if you bow to the healer for good work, but not to the tank because he has no idea what he was doing back then :)
Faya
Someone missed the two wrongs dont make a right lesson in kindergarden :P
Story sounds made-up, but w/e. Figured he'd at least have chat logs or a screenshot.
You sir, are my hero. <3
thats what im saying want to be a d*ck in a party someone else might be a bigger one.
i dont blame the OP that crap is annoying when you have to party up with people who have a online ego which is useless.
lol superman
I had people act like this today when I used the DF to join a level 15 dungeon that I hadn't run before. Yep, that's right-- a level 15 dungeon! I'm playing CNJ, and like the good healer I'm trying to be, I told them I hadn't done the dungeon before, hoping they'd offer constructive criticism, warn me ahead of time of any mobs with particularly nasty attacks I should look out for, or let me know of any tricks I'd need to know. Instead they jumped straight in with insults. I was pretty shocked; I played FFXI, and never saw anyone so rude in all the years I played that game, even in really competitive end-game situations and especially not in a situation like a low-level fight where you should be *expecting* to meet new players. It was pretty disheartening, and has discouraged me from using the Duty Finder in the future-- I may just do things with friends from now on.
Awesome! Just awesome OP.
I would've loved to have seen their reactions when you basically told them to go fuck themselves. That would've been SO priceless.
the parties found in duty finder are mostly immature little children, who only have 1 lv 50 class and think they know everything and are better than everyone else. My suggestion is to not use duty find until at least midnight when they are all in bed.
You can always tell when you get a group of end game players who are burnt out because they've been hardcore raiding for too long. I myself was guilty at raging on people for being to stupid to avoid things after years of main tanking in wow. I am glad those days have come to pass :)
The funny part is if he left at ~5% they still probably killed it anyway.
Not to pick on your story but limit break boss is dead easy at 5% on ifirit but yeah i hate elite jerks should leave mmos and go back to the fps world where all elite jerks should be banished.
Being a warrior, I have had similar situations. Bravo OP, I would absolutely have done the same thing. I actually ran a temple of qarn run the other day, and I had ran it once previous to that. We get down by the first boss and someone accidentally pulled some mobs from the other room on top of what we were already doing. Needless to say, the healer dies, me and the 2 dps kill them after I get control, and as the healer comes running back up he says "good job pulling the other mobs on me dumb***". The dps speaks up and says that it was him, and the healer then replies, "I didn't specify who, just that your dumb*****. At that point I gladly spoke up and said, that he needed to watch his mouth, or find another tank, because I wouldn't tank for players like that. He proceeded on a rant of name calling before exiting. Needless to say, we got a great healer and finished the dungeon. Unfortunately, these type of people will always exist. Again, cheers OP.
If I see another person with a Raise spell who doesn't have Swiftcast cross classed I am gonna stop using DF altogether
Hmmm maybe I will heal some DF groups when I hit 50. Leveling a healer is so damn boring its taking me a while. I keep switching out jobs for a few levels for a break. Its probably going to be another month before I hit 50. Now I want to DF just so I can piss all of the idiots off when I tell them its my first time there. So far I haven't had that problem. But I've only run the first 4 story instances (up to Ifrit and the one after recuing the fairyplant people). So far everyone has been extremely kind except for one. He got pissed that we wiped on the scorpion boss because the tank pulled while someone was still in the cutscene. No harm done we didn't wipe again. Though it was close at the end since I ran out of mana (can only heal through/remove poison from so many flesh pods hitting all the dps).
on Hard mode there a backup tank so there still a HUGE chance those idiot win and got a weapon BUT i really like what the OP did =)
Haha, love the story OP. The biggest advantage to the duty finder is all the great, hilarious, stories you get from people you run into. From healers that think stoneskin is a waste of mp to tanks that think they should take every move the mob throws at them without moving, to dps that can't live long enough to dps. This is funny stuff. We all do make mistakes, it happens, no reason you can't have a good laugh about it.
