I still have a screenie of my log in woes from Aion. At least they implemented a queue system and you knew where you were!
you had a q though.
I am a fanboy, MAD? That's why I bought the game but I'm not raging.
Yes, you are correct. I can't help but think how Se manages the sale of their software and downloads and not know how many users are there going to be during early access and after launch day. I wonder what the number crunching department is like.
I'll do me best! I'm only practical. Yet, i have a right to my own opinion and facts too.
Lol"Cuntomers"(typo)... I'm one of them! Hogging my spot I have a right to in-game. Only way I log off is when i switch from PC to PS3 or when the electricity is cut off(never!)
I'm sorry? You sir can please get off my nuts and stop humping my leg-taru!
Seriously wished I'd saved my money. I've hardly played.. Can't get on to Jp or NA/EU servers. And when I do, I get booted afer an hr or 2.
yes they screwed up i agree i haven't played yet either and I'm also quite a bit mad:mad:
but it was a holiday weekend so an extra day was needed to fix things and its a national holiday so in America so they could have a billion dollars and still not be able to do anything today.
at least after re-reading Mr. Naoki Yoshida's post he said we are getting free days added to our 30 day free month trial we get for purchasing the game, so its like hmm okay cant play but not losing anything either other than some of our time i am frustrated too but it looks like Mr. Yoshida is trying to fix things and make it right so we gotta be more patient.;)
Unprofessional for a company to spend a week after final project is release and it's basically still beta testing mode.
Never have I ever seen a company take over 3 days to fully fix an issue.. this makes you appreciate other company's TRUE passion for their game.. not just a pay check.
BTW>. Holiday week....... REALLY? IT"S ONE DAY.. NOT 7! HELLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO?
Japan doesn't even celebrate this day! FAIL.
also another thing we gotta understand is square-enix was low on money and didn't expect much at first for ffxiv because of 1.0 so here is what happened, whoaaaa omg great sales. omg we were wrong about our server sizes and amounts of people next now we gotta wait on banks to take and turn all these us dollars and euros into Japanese yen, then we gotta pay everyone for working on this game for 3 years, now we have a bloody holiday weekend now we have to add more servers and hopefully increase the servers already in place. YES I'M MAD yes i have not played yet but i also have a brain and understand how a little bit about how stuff works and how crap happens. so i'm upset but i also understand i can get as mad as i want but at this point i need to be patient and give them the time they need to make it right
Not only but this is a game that has delivered so well (in gameplay terms and not server obviously) that the huge Fail that was XIV has been totally forgiven and forgotten.
Add to that that with this being an American national holiday most of America has the day off and guess what those that bought the game are do .... that's right flooding the servers to play this amazing game. Square should be giving a more detail explanation of what they are doing to fix this and if they will be giving world transfers so people can go onto a new sever without starting again, as the opening of this game is very slow but awesome THE FIRST TIME
at least we are not losing any of our 30 free day game time Mr. Yoshida said we will get compensated.
yes i agree with you it was a somewhat vague explaination about what they are going to do on somethings maybe they are not entirely sure or maybe they dont wanna say one thing and have it come back to bite them in the arse. but my friends who invited me to play are on Hyperion server so i hope i can go there and join them when they finish work on the servers or else i gotta say i will be very upset, even more so then i am now that i have not even played yet. as for this character i was told in response to my ticket to use the forums so i made this character on a Japanese server typhon but i wasn't able to play because of 1017 lol :(
PSxpert2011,
SE had the information and statistics from beta and early access registration data that the load on the servers would be consistently high. Added onto the information from FF11 and FF14 1.0 which shows that the average concurrent connection is going to be comparable or greater to those numbers. And I am not attacking the producer or development team but simply stating the numbers were there. And I truly hope that they can overcome the issue of concurrent connections and load. Though I think developing a method to split loads of each world between another server would be an interesting option.
Yes, while true.. it is pay to play.. sometimes you have to just suck it up and work for your customers.. I mean, you see labor day sales and people working today... It isn't a government job where they take off for the hec of it.
The reason hy I mentioned the Japanese not being off is because it's THEIR designers that didn't do their job to begin with.
But yeah... no excuse for the BS.. lmao
Speaking purely from a position of past experience, I would say that yes, this ranks as one of the biggest failed launches in the history of the genre (which is really saying something). It's true that there are almost always issues for MMO launches, but with even the worst of them, the issues were at least bandaged within one to three days.
There is no evidence that the issues for this game are any better than they were when it first launched. It's literally JUST as bad as it was day one...which is to say, near unplayable for an incredible number of people. I have never encountered a launch THIS bad before, in all honesty. Not even SWTOR.
nah i agree with you totally they screwed up i haven't even played yet myself. so i know how you feel i feel very mad and frustrated myself. but lets just see what happens this week after labor day (today) lets give them another work week and see what they do to make improvements i dont expect everything to be magically fixed but i do expect some kind of huge improvement over whats going on right now
Thanks and even if the numbers were there, I wouldn't by angry and spitting in anyones faces. I'm still annoyed but I have to share the internet with half(if not more) the rest of the world. Because seriously, RPGs used to be an underground pass-time before it went mainstream. Not everyone enjoyed RPG now everyone wants a piece of the pie. Thanks for the informative and intellectual reply.
There's so much flaming going on now and I have to apologize if I seem to be one of them. @___@
Hey guys chill. This is not a fail launch. It may be from your own personal experience.
I have logged in every day and played for hours with 0 problems. Then logged out.
I have seen a few minor things happen like having to wait for servers to show up etc.
No i am not rubbing your faces in anything. I am just pointing out that even though for some people it is a bad experience there are plenty of us playing who are loving every moment of it.
ie The world does not revolve around what you think.
Your a complete Moron.
I was there at Aion all through their Beta and the launch of Aion September 19th 2009. Yes, there was issues.
Let me state them for you because I remember clearly.
We couldn't log in due to high demand of the game. They noticed the issues - took servers down for 5 hours straight away, made changes to their servers which were required to hold these new numbers and the amount of players logging in.
After 5 hours we could log in without an issue. There was a little lag but at least we could play just fine.
This has been 13 days of failure so far, no other game I've played in the last 15 years have compared to this.
They state they will fix issues, were you blind did you not see the "16" updates stating we know of a problem yet, we are still doing nothing? That's not professional.
This isn't a go at you mate but Aion/D3/Linage/ Even WoW was not this bad. They all at least had a solid Queue which said. " Servers full - position in line 1000++ come back in 6 hours" it wouldn't time out and eventually take you into the game.
Actually that's the point of the game, to revolve around the player's time to play, not vice-versa.
The fact you got on "every day" just means your server was locked early and lucked out not being quite as congested as the rest. No NA/EU servers are accepting new characters at this moment, so, even "re-rolling to play elsewhere" isn't possible, unless you want to high Ping on JP servers.
its funny how people can drop 20-60 bucks on a game and then all of a sudden they have years of networking and IT experience. Let's see your Net+, A+ and other more vendor aligned computer certs since you clearly know what to do to fix the game Mr. OP
Been around 24 hours since my last successful login, got disconnected about 6 hours after that and haven't been able to get back in. This is utterly ridiculous SE. I tried to login at like 3:00 AM and nothing
Here's how you scale a launch from 1 to 10 on the fail scale...
1) Does it load and update properly?
2) Can you login?
3) Is there latency?
4) Is there disconnects?
5) Are there multiple game breaking bugs that prevent progression?
6) Are there multiple bugs that cause severe annoying workarounds to be made?
So, from that list, which ones or rather, how far down the list does FFXIV go? If you said anything past 2, you are a lucky individual who more than likely is sitting AFK in game for 8-12 hours a day.
Anyhow, truth be told, a broken game is always better than an unplayable game. Considering how well the game plays, I truly am surprised at how badly the past 2 weeks of login issues has been. If I was SE's IT department, well, I'm still going to school for IT, so I won't judge. Still a bloody mess.
I don't like the state of things myself thank you very much. And I would appreciate it if you did not call me a fanboy because I am not. I have other hobbies and things to do to occupy my time besides this game hence my disposition. it is also why I don't make retarded ass threads like this one. I would rather have login issues and the game be great than be able to log into what was 1.0
and quite honestly if the game is such a fail launch, Why are you here? Why don't you go to customer service, get your refund and be on your way? Some of us are willing to deal with server errors to get into the game and some of us have gotten our refunds and went on our way. I suggest you do one or the other and have an amazing week friend.
Ugh this sucks...I set my alarm early to wake up (this is a very rare day off for me) before my 2 year old gets up...found myself with my head down at the desk spamming 0 listening for the sound of a successful login... didn't happen. Now she's down for her nap...same thing, head down spamming 0...I just want to play, this is such a great game. I'm not even mad, just bummed and ready to give up :(
