After spaming the lobby screen to get the server list, Im getting now 1017. Te strange thing is that now after selecting start it automatically sends me 1017.
Now I have no idea wtf happened and if I will be able to play again.
Im on PS3 btw .
Anyone getting these errors should run a ping test to a random website to see your connection before/during/after trying to log in to FFXIV.
I have been doing this and FFXIV seems to be causing a overall connectivity issue when you try to login and you should see your internet connection stabilize once it kicks you or you exit out.
ALSO, I notice now when its a connection issue by simply watching how the Rating Screen and "Square Enix" logo show up before you get to the start button. Both will appear as if they are stuttering or it takes a long time to get to the actual start button.
(If you do see some sort of connectivity issue when doing this, there is a sticky up on the tech support forum regarding ISP possibly throttling the connection and it maybe related. Please add your info there for visibility)
im in the 2002 grey out club no functioning start button was fine last night
Also getting 2002 errors and 1017 errors before it loads anything. I'm just wondering where SE's PR department is in all this? Where are the forums administrators? I really hope they push back the start of the billing cycle to next week when they get more servers or I have a feeling that we wont need the servers for lack of players.
I am getting the same thing...
bouncing between lobby server and world full errors.

And I still get the error.
Tested a second server in the interim of waiting for the 'Start' button to turn:

Also getting 2002 after my PC crashed. Was on now I can't even get to lobby server.
Shit is getting old... basically first weekend of launch and getting New 2002 error. Crash goes the client
/Cry
Your doing a speedtest, I recommend you start a ping test from the command line to random website before and let it run for a bit. Then start up FFXIV, let that run its course (whether it kicks you out or you exit) then let the ping test run a bit more before stopping it. Go over it and see if there is a connectivity issue (Like a "Request Timed-Out") around the times you were starting up FFXIV

Finally got into the lobby and the NA/EU servers aren't showing up.
PS3 user getting these same errors in the same fashion-- start button graying out, getting 1017 and 2002 before character select screen can even load, no characters even loading if I'm lucky enough to make it that far, and all the other usual fun we end up having with squenix when it's the weekend.
It's getting more and more difficult to make a post reporting an issue on these forums and not flip the fuck out... I probably wouldn't be sitting here consumed with rage if this shit happened to me some time other than the weekend when I can actually play and make some progress.
Oh well. Cheers squenix, you've got me bent over a log once again!
I'm having the same problem
Same error 2002...been trying all morning to get in.

I just came back from having breakfast hoping this issue was resolved and its not. Does SE even know there is a problem? Their website shows everything working as normal.
Was up late last night, around `1:30 Pacific Standard Time I got the 90000 error. Tried to log back in but no go. Missing JP or NA/EU lists. 2002 error tons of times, 1017 twice.
Location: California
Well not to be a moaner but cant seem to do anything today error 2002 and 1071 giving me hard time today :(
I don't mean to imply that it is an issue on your end, just want to have people watch there connecting during the entire process to see if FFXIV is causing a connection issue.
From what you posted, I am unsure if you have done the ping test recently before/during/after trying to connect to FFXIV, this is all I am trying to confirm.
I am having the same problems so far I have received error (5006,2002, and 1017) I am on PS3, I already reconnected my PS3 to the internet and My connections are good. I also restarted the PS3 and My modem, so far I can go to every website, Play any game except for FFXIV. It must be their end.
Same error since 7:00 AM, I've never received the 2002 error. I read the thread and tried everything from ports, restarting my communication device, ect. Still not a solution. I'm on PC.
I don't believe it's on my end because I have never had this problem before, I haven't installed anything new on my computer that might compromise connection issues with any games I play.
We need more solutions to this problem than just that thread that is stickied.
Ok so whats the issue when all ports are forwarded ping test is good. Connection is great 92 down 56up. No router hooked up at the moment for the ping test and connection test and to see if i still have the error. Which i didnt before ive been playing since EA after getting past server full issues error started happening after a disconnect last night while i was playing. Now cant get past the error 2002.

Same 2002 error here and every time is happens it closes the client app.
I am not sure what the issues is and by no means am I implying it is a connection issue on our end. What I am trying to determine is if FFXIV itself is causing a connectivity issue.
I also did not have any issues with my connection. The only time it gets completely unstable is when I open up FFXIV and it gets better as soon as I turn it off. You can see this for yourself if you run a ping test to a different website and let it run its course while you try to connect to FFXIV. The more information if it is a bigger issue affecting us all the better.
bump
a few tries where I didn't get 2002 error, the next screen cannot pull NA/EU server info
I don't know how, but I just logged in. I just had to keep entering my password and hope t get into the server. Must be an overload of JP players on NA/EU since theirs is down. Maybe that's why were having this connection issue. I could be wrong though
1.0, beta tests out the ass, a previous mmo... and still all this bullshit. I hope some people are getting fired over this waste of time.
I got 2002 first, have been logged of from ps3 and receive an empty NA/EU list since then. And there are no information from square enix regarding this issue.I wonder when square enix solve the server problems without the login restriction crap.
Ran a ping test to Google with the -t flag from the moment I clicked 'Play' on the Launcher through the time I got kicked off of the game. No fluctuations. Personally, I'd be interested in seeing the metrics of the NA/EU server's connections, I'm sure it'd be both fascinating and answer a lot of questions.
I get the same error now that I tried to log to another character, I was connected and playing fine, logged out and then got error 2002. Don't tell me this has nothing to do with the login servers.
I ran the ping test, no fluctuation, i got in to character room, but kicked out getting in world. Server should got over loaded, checking time and how it is progressing looks like they were rebooted
Well at least im in... not to see the cgi video again, and again, and again... DX ahhhhhhhh
The game client is not going to affect the computers network performance. Outside of a flood and/or overloading TCP/UDP sockets it cannot dig into the network stack of the OS (there is no driver attached to the exe). I ran multiple ping tests just for s' and giggles' and all came out perfectly fine.
This is most likely network/connection issues on their end. If they have poor session handling and it's overloaded it could be a major issue. There is a max to the number of sockets and if they have coded something that has issues purging existing connections then it could get maxed (even with the same player trying to log in multiple times).
Odds are though that they have a server cluster sitting behind load balancers. I have more of a feeling that they just have overloaded servers and it's at the server code level that they are not handling things properly (login server for example).
The forum registration and so forth is wonky.
Tsuroku if you do have issues while it's being loaded/played on your system with pinging things you have some larger issues which are probably ISP or driver/resource related.
i would not say it better and that´s comming from some one who works over T-systems networks XD
I'm having the same issue. The occurrence of all this errors and new ones is really getting frustrated!
