For the past two days there has been a guy using a farming bot on the east side of the north shroud. So frustrating.
I managed to get about 3 stacks from lv20 leves and by that time, I had already gotten enough leve exp to not need them much anymore. So I sold a chunk of them and kept the rest for special crafts.
Before I actually needed diremites Ir eally didn't think this would be a big deal, but now that I need them to make myself gear, or do the lv 25 quests IT'S A BIG DEAL! QQ i thought it was actually a good thing that we had a leve that gave a reward I could even sell if I wanted :) but that only works if you actually get the reward :(
I thought the level 20 leves (don't sash me) gave diremites sometimes??!?? They need to make the leves give you the CHOICE of which reward you want!!!!
I've heard rewards change as time passes: I played A LOT yesterday, and re-checked the Leve reward in Ul'Dah many times over the course of 10 hours, and it was ALWAYS lightining crystals.
I've heard rewards change when you complete any leve: I did the tripple turn-in that asks for Cotton Breeches of Crafting twice and, a couple other quick leves, and it was ALWAYS lighning crystals.
Also - it's annoying that I can't access the leves at quarrymill until I'm a level 25 :/
Can anyone confirm that "don't sash me" does in fact give diremite webs at some point in time??? I'd like to craft a pile of them in anticipation of the reward changing, or at least have cloth and thread ready, but that doesn't seem to ever happen :(
Yes, I can confirm - I have about 40 of them from that quest.
You might try getting all of the lvl 20 leves, and then trying Don't Sash Me again. If they still aren't offering diremite silk, complete one of the other leves, and check back, etc.
The easiest way to cycle the leve rewards, is to do one leve and this will reset them.
I did "Don't Sash Me" and checked again, no change... I repeated that 3 or 4 times, as well as several other leves and other quests from the same location, and different locations - no change... I did this over the course of a week or so... no change.
I went to Quarrymill. BOTH of the lv 20 leves there offered Diremite Webs (one is a tripler). I did them. They offered it again, and again and again. I have 107 webs, and accepted both leves again...
I have checked Don't Sash Me MANY times and has always remained shards, while the two in Quarymill have always been Diremite. There seems to be something more than crazy RNG at work here (bug, wai?). It would be nice if they'd just give us the choice of our reward.
lol people saying 5 days is too long obviously didn't craft in FFXI. I love this crafting system and prices will go down over time. I haven't done weaver yet, but i'm currently doing leather.
Ran into a Botter on Cactuar.....stopped him for about 30min until he realized it and auto-cancelled my trade window. Thankfully a member of my FC was able to help me get about a stack of webs in that time.
Note: If the botter doesnt have the auto cancel feature on, if you trade with it in the middle of it attacking a mob it will stop everything and just stand there getting hit.
The Triple leve in quarrymill gives these webs.. you can spam these easy and HQ as well for added xp and gil.
You'll need the lightning shards at higher lvl weaving too so the 40 ones especially are still worth doing.
Best thing to do is check leves level 20 in ul-dah and quarry mill... Quarry mill if you can get them are the best because you make cotton for web plus they give you 10 and 11 web a shot... Unless your in leviathan then you want to go to the local AH and purchase web from saika rose at a reasonable price ;)
I farmed mine during early access before the bot army came.
Yes, leve rewards change BUT - you have no control over how or when they change. If you casually notice the 'right' reward it seems easy and convenient, but when you NEED a specific reward, and you do 40+ leves, checking back after each one, before you get the reward you need it is NOT easy or convenient or fun. I can't proove to you that it happened, but if did :/
If there were a way to accurately predict or control the reward I wouldn't be complaining, but I certainly haven't found a way in game or in forums like these.
You don't need to accurately predict it when it comes up so often. You don't have to check after every leve. Just do it every now and then. I've probably gotten something like 15 stacks of web from these leves. It's extremely easy.
What are you not understanding??? For 8 days I did check after each leve... like 48 times... and IT DIDN'T COME UP AS A REWARD.
Maybe you were lucky, maybe I wasn't. Maybe it's bugged. It's not "extremely easy" if you can't get it to happen. Eventually it did start coming up. I have no idea why - but for 8 days I was essentially 'stuck' because I couldn't get these webs. I basically skipped from cotton to flax. It wasn't challanging, or fun, or interesting, or balanced (you know -- things you look for in games). Fleece looks worse. Meanwhile I haven't hit any similar lack of materials in any other DoH.
It isn't misinformed it's just not practical.
If I do 6 triple turn in leve quests in HQ, who needs diremite?
Leveling Weaver is not difficult. The well placed flax and the triple turn in 40 reward means you might need to farm a lot of flax but it's a 31 Botany unlock.
The trouble tied to Diremite and fleece shortage is making use of the craft after you have it leveled. It's why I hate the potash and Coke throttle. Time spent is not time saved when you level 8 crafts and 2 Gathering and still need to pound through dungeons to get enough tomes for a combined 81 Potash. If you hate the circumventable throttles of diremite and fleece you are really going to hate end game crafting.
This is a big part of what bothers me. I decided to level all DoH and DoL except fishing together. I prefer to keep my DoH ahead of my battle class, so I have HQ gear ready before I level. I like to level the DoH that provide the useable equipment first, which often includes Wvr.
The other part of it has been that I haven't seen this kind of obstacle in other crafts yet. I like that the crafts are different, but I think they fun/interesting/challanging/balanced (you know good game stuff). They should also be reasonably equitable.
Leveling Wvr hasn't been difficult, in fact I accidentally leveled several times just trying to get the stupid reward to come up. And not only was I checking back after each leve, I was also checking back at different times.
Is anyone else finding the recent changes for weaving materials STILL arn't enough?
I logged in at mid-day CET (around 5-6am in America) and every single sheep spawn on Balmung has 2-3 people camping it, even at this time of day. 2-3! - I couldn't believe it. There still isn't enough sheep to go around!. The market value has dropped significantly from a high of ~900, to now around 500 per piece, but that's still in the order of 10 times the price of equivalent crafting materials, and leatherworking materials doesn't hit this same bottleneck because it has a 1:1 ratio. 1 raptor hide = 1 leather circle, Vs 4 fleece = 1 woolen bolt
Is that during prime time Bufkus? I play on Balmung too, and just got 50 weaving a couple days ago. I completed botany luminary first so I had the convenience of an obscene amount of flax that I may not have gotten had I not heard guildmates complain about fleece. I play from Australia so my times may vary but it's rare to see sheep packs up even during the America's offpeak hours. Before it was merged with Balmung, Besaid was the roleplaying realm, and a number of latin American groups chose the server too. Beyond that I have no idea of it would be so bad, or what groups played on Balmung pre-merge.
My advice is get about a stack and a half of fleece and use that for quest items/first craft bonus (I made the lv 50 quest items at 49.) With the amount of time you have to put in to farm a decent amount of fleece, you're still going to be pulling your hair over the lack of hq fleece drops, with botany you can 'force' hq drops, and make in-roads to the botany luminary. I know that doesn't appeal to many people since it's the same as the 50quest one, but it's there.
Sadly, from what I've seen on Balmung, if you want to catch fleece or diremites the absolute best solution is one most people don't have the ability to do. That is, hopping on at 3-4 in the morning should get you much better results, though I've noticed that after 1 am or so eastern the server pop tends to plummet so earlier might in theory still be okay.
I've found all the new Karakul spawns, but I can't seem to find the new Banemites... how about you guys? Also, anywhere to get tufts for felt besides Golden Fleece? I stopped farming them en masse yesterday when I realized I was cockblocking people from completing their hunting logs. Yes, I could claim them and let the people kill, but new people constantly come in needing those things, and I'd rather just go elsewhere if there's an alternative.
