As awesome as this is, can you please tell us if they're at least looking into resetting chocobo points?

That's too long from now... please expedite this.
You should put 'solve major player annoyances/frustrations' at the top of your to-do list...
Chocobo during DF & the Chocobo points dilemma ought to be viewed as high-alert changes.
These (along with the inability to hide quest objectives) are the sort of things that lose you subscribers.
Too many grave nuisances, people get irritated, & they leave the game.
Just helping you out as a company SE, these small changes could solely prevent the loss of let's say 3% of your player-base... which' a lot.
And that 3% could have greater repercussions than you know, because that 3% could've brought in another 3% off of inviting their friends to play & so on.
Please expedite these changes for 2.21 at minimum.
I've wanted this since I started. It's not even my birthday yet.

And this please. I just need two resets, one to get my Paladin Barding, and one to make him useful to me after that. Though more would be helpful when I level other jobs.
Another great idea... (personally)
Make it so that we can have a party of 8 and everyone in that party can their Chocobos out. Make the Chocobos/companions a pet, kind of like SMN or SCH. All SMN/SCH can have their pets out in a party of 8.
It might mess with the balance of parties, but this would help a lot for FATEs in the lower levels.
We know 90% of the (insert your server name here) server is doing end-game and not participating in the lower level stuff.
Greetings,
As a follow-up to the previous announcement regarding companion adjustments, we wanted to let you know that you will only be able to call your company chocobo mount with your companion summoned. Also, the time in which you are riding on your company chocobo will not count towards the duration in which you can have your companion out. Once you dismount and your companion re-appears, the timer will resume.
Why can't we use any mount with our chocobo summoned? >_> And why is making it so we can queue for dungeons with the chocobo out such a low priority?
I'm not sure how using the already available mount-summoning animation (doesn't have to dismiss the chocobo - you just ride while it runs along with you, like a companion) is more complicated than creating a new animation.
This is yet again another instance of "Well, we're going to let you play the game, but only in the very narrow path that we've chosen for you, regardless of how logical or reasonable our restrictions are."
Jesus people.
All he is saying is that if you have your companion out and fighting with you the only mount you can call until you dismiss it is the Grand Company Mount aka the one that you are fighting with.
If you don't have your chocobo summoned then mounts work like normal.
I'm hoping that's the case, but his wording was poor. What he should have said was "If your companion is out, you will only be able to call your Companion to mount." Which seems obvious anyway. But the way he worded it made it sound otherwise.
I don't think having your Companion out with DF up was low priority persay, just there was likely a fair bit of work and troubleshooting involved to properly implement it. They basically had to recode so that your Companion is ignored by the Duty Finder which means essentially flagging you as being in a party (with your Companion) AND solo at the same time. Camate's wording is a little odd but I imagine it IS meant that while your Companion is out you can only summon IT to ride. This makes sense since you'll be able to dismount and continue fighting with it.
Hell, people are getting crazy :D
1. After patch 2.3, we'll be able to join Duty Finder with our companion summoned
2. We'll be able to ride company chocobo mount (not other mounts) with our companion summoned, which will disappear once we use chocobo wistle and re-appear once we dismount.
3. Gysahl greens are needed for summoning the companion, not the mount. As currently.
(Edited in order to not get people more confused)
But that sentence can be read two ways, is the problem. As in you can only mount your chocobo if it's already called. The sentence as phrased has more than one interpetation.
Anyway, I'm sure you're right on the meaning, but you're wrong that there's only one way to read what he said.
I think some of you have misread.
Quote:
The lead updated us that being able to ride your mount with your companion out, and have them return to you once you dismount, will be added in patch 2.2.
I know you didn't specify when, but it seems some people are reading that queuing DF with the companion out will be ready in 2.2 when that's not the case.Quote:
However registering for duty with your companion summoned will be implemented after patch 2.3.
Meaning if you summon your GC chocobo with a gyshal green, while that is in effect you won't be allowed to call your Unicorn mount to ride. But you will be able to call your same GC chocobo as a mount. If you would want to ride a different mount you would have to use withdraw first. Also, if your GC chocobo is not currently summoned as a companion you'd be able to ride it as a mount as usual.
It's worded a bit confusing, it took me a second look to understand. They probably made it this way for immersion. Most people wouldn't walk their horse by the reigns then jump on a bicycle and ride off leaving the horse to it's own whits to catch up to you later. So it makes sense from a RP standpoint.
anyone who plays the game should have in context knowledge and therefore should be able to recognize that what was meant was not exactly what was said. if this is taken in context than it would be apparent that: we can now use a mount when our companion is summoned and a more narrow interpretation is that it needs to be the companion. There would be no reason for the devs to change the way that mounts work in normal circumstances (ie when the companion is not summoned) therefore the literal meaning of the post is not what was intended. Honestly a little critical thinking would prevent this entire discussion.
Funny, I woulda thought they'd have made it such that only other mounts could be ridden while the companion is out, and he just follows you without disappearing. That way he doesn't get tired carrying you around between battles.
The reason they came to the decision they did is likely because certain players may be in a situation for a time where the only mount they own is the company chicken... Still, it seems like a missed opportunity to incentivize content that gave additional mounts.
am I going to crash the server if I use a Gysahl green after I hit commence for a Duty Call?
Totally correct.
As is often the case, SE's ability to post something in English that isn't ambiguous is lacking.
Also, they refer to 'company chocobo' which to me means ONLY the GC bird is subject to this limitation. I'm sure it doesn't mean that but if it doesn't why didn't SE use the term MOUNT in place of COMPANY CHOCOBO, seems pointless to specifically mention that one mount if the mechanic applies to all.
If you go back and open the previous thread you'll find that he said that these changes will be implemented in 2.2, however, the ability to have your chocobo summoned and queue for the duty finder will not be implemented until after 2.3. If that's the case, then they should just wait until they have it all ready and implement it at the same time.
Honestly, this is one of the reasons that leveling your chocobo is so annoying. Since the whole progression of the game is setup through FD or waiting in a PF group until it's full, you're stuck doing other things while you wait solo. I can't do dailies with my chocobo, because I'm also in a queue. I can't level alts through leves while using my chocobo, because I'm also in a queue.
Waiting until after 2.3 to implement a change on this is simply unacceptable.
Hey, Camate!
Thanks for the awesome news, man! Sounds awesome for chocobo leveling parties! :o
Speaking of chocobo leveling parties, I came to notice just recently, that when you have a chocobo out and fighting along side you, you cannot invite any new players to the party until you dismiss it and waste another gysahl green to bring it out. :(
Is there a way to keep your bird out and still invite new players to the party without having to constantly dismiss the bird every single time you want to invite a player? It kind of sucks having to do that every time.
Let me know what you think about it when you get the chance, and no biggie if it can't be changed! :D
is this fixed yet?
Any update for this issue?
Not being able to use battle chocobo while queued in the duty finder is a huge letdown. First issue that made me actually stop playing the game to try and figure out if I was doing something wrong, or they are for real with this. Finally reached level 30 and was so happy to get the battle companion, but not being able to register for duty finder at same time is soul crushing =(
Please prioritize this issue and provide an update now that 2.3, 2.4, and 2.45 have come and gone.
I forgot where, or if it was in a live letter, but they said they are having a very difficult time implementing this and it might never happen.
Preliminary patch 2.5 notes:
This does not seem like progress toward using duty finder and chocobo companion simultaneously. As a mid-level player this is my #1 issue with the game currently.Quote:
A confirmation window will now be displayed when summoning a chocobo companion while registered for duties via the Duty Finder.
Is it possible to put bird companion in a unique npc slot like minions? So you can have bird summoned while still be in full team.
