I guess he meant JP. Not NA/EU

They won't delay it no matter what.
Yoshi P never had the power to delay it in the first place.
Not when SE answers to investors.
Get a life man, this is an MMO launch. If he refused to launch this game until it was perfect, it would NEVER be launched...
Any seasoned MMO veteran should know by now that it is very rare for an MMO to launch without any problems.
[QUOTE=SwordCoheir;1065332]Problem is there's no way to base how popular or not an MMO will be, nor will they always be able to account for spikes in server activity which comes with launches, after maintainence, etc.QUOTE]
Its very easy. They took digital sales and gave out pre-order vouchers which would directly correlate to how popular it would be during launch. That is essentially why companies like preorders (the demand is already set). Spikes should be easy weekends and whenever people start getting home from work on PST, and you had a proper amount of servers to begin with shouldn't be a huge problem considering how long they have worked on this game.
When TERA launched with this similar problem of people not being able to start on the same servers as their friends, people were given free transfers to anywhere depending on server ruleset. Hopefully SE will follow suit.
The 'game' itself is great, I have not encountered any negative issues so far. The server status will be fixed eventually, so I'm not too worried. Now if the game itself sucked, well that would be a different story.
while you have all been debating here, SE has already delayed release and extended early access right under your noses...
scroll down to the bottom of the front page of the lodestone, in bright green letters is says,
Early Access Period
August 24, 2013 (Saturday), 2:00 a.m. to August 29, 2013 (Thursday), 11:59 p.m. (PDT)
http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/
it has been there since early this afternoon
The customers are to blame for being excited to play and their product not working? Are you retarded?
Also, this is an MMO launch. Are some of you really that surprised that something of this magnitude isn't working perfectly right off the bat? You people need to get a fucking grip. These problems CAN'T occur until the game is released to the public on a mass scale, as it is now. Nothing can simulate that. So as the problems pop up they fix it, easy as that. You can be rational and understanding and not get upset about it or you can get in a tizzy over it which won't change a damn thing. It'll be fixed when it's fixed, no need to stress out over something that is out of your control.
How is this anything like 1.0?
1.0 was considered a failure due to lack of content, wacky and unresponsive UI and bizarre game mechanics (Stamina bar anyone?)
This is straight up server-side shit we are dealing with, it can and will be ironed out eventually. If anyone thinks they are not busting balls to get this fixed you are crazy, just check out the #FFXIV Twitter feed. They don't want bad press and the internet is full of critics/armchair developers/etc who are more than willing to rip into them publicly. The game itself is pretty damn good, if they get the server issues sorted they will be golden.
Yes, we all know that early access was THE perk for pre-orderers. However in its essence, early access is more or less open beta part 2. First it continue to spread out the player population in term of level so that by launch, everyone and their mom won't fighting each other over lvl1 squirrels for newbie quests. Secondly, it still give them that damage control "buffer" to let them call it a "soft launch" and that they can excuse themselves until official launch. So in reality, early access can be a perk but your mileage may vary (extremely), and I can't help but feel anxious for the actual launch.
how can IGN be streaming the game tomorrow when it's still under the NDA until official release?
Quote:
Use of Copyrighted Material:
Beginning with the start of the official launch, you may stream, upload or share the videos you record of FFXIV: ARR. However, please note that these things remain prohibited during the early access period. Please see the following for more details on the use of copyrighted materials (http://sqex.to/qn4).
I love this game and supported it since first day of 1.0 and will keep playing as long as it takes, big fan.
but i'm afraid this game cant take another hit from Critics, and with all these errors, i think they should delay it.
What? Consider that Japan has around 100 million people, and only a small percentage (less than 1%) of people are actually playing. Then consider that the NA/EU group are region-bound. Meaning those countries (compounded) are going to have at least 10x the total amount of people, and, thusly, a larger amount of people who will want to play the game. Not to mention the Japanese--or people who live in Japan, but are not Japanese--who are probably defecting from the JP group in order to play with their friends on a server in the NA/EU group.
People have to understand at some point that comparing the JP group to the NA/EU group is ridiculous. That's a country versus two regions. .-.
well keep release for Japan
Sorry if I am sound rude but we have no issue on JP server, so no need to postpone our launch
And what if it's fixed by tomorrow?

Release hasn't been delayed. Early access must be getting a buffer period for whatever reason, but nowhere does it imply that they've pushed back release or even extended early access.
Um... release was scheduled for Aug. 27th, if Early access is now running till Aug. 29th, then yes that means it was extended, and you cant very well extend early access without delaying the release
and just because people will pick there games up from gamestop tomorrow night or receive them in the mail, does not mean that SE will allow them to login through the launcher
ps. you want more evidence I just tried to login into my wifes 1.0 non legacy account to update (which would be available if full release takes place tomorrow as they provide patch 24 hrs prior) and it says
Users participating in early access must also complete registration by August 30, 2013.
So yes EA has been extended.
I do believe the 29th was clarified to be a 'Grace Period' and not an extension of early access or a delay of launch.
