I don't see the servers being stable for at least a week to be fair. 27th will see thousands more pour into the servers and as SE only fix problems after they arise they don't plan for it in the first place.

Servers coming back online at 2pm EST / 11am PST
This is normal for a AAA MMO launch. Every AAA MMO in the past 10 years has experienced problems of this magnitude, or greater. Remember WOW launch in 2004? Sure I could log in just fine, but lag was killer for up to two weeks. Taking 20 seconds to loot a mob is no fun. Star Wars Galaxies? Diablo III? All experienced severe problems.
Even though SE is bottle-necking the servers, once you do get in, it's worth it. Played from 5:30am to 11:00am today, NO lag at all.
Japanese = Sons
NA/EU = Stepsons
yay time for NAPPIES !

Issues I take it?
Wow! More than 3 years in the making, 4 phases of Beta, and still the servers are down on launch day. I don't even know why I expected anything different. I payed to play today... wasted money.
If you're not familiar with the office, or the irony of my signature being used in your argument, I pity you greatly.
You can't demand compensation when the company says the game could go offline, you're owed nothing legally. It's pretty childish and a very entitled way to behave and react.
If you want to make it a freedom of speech issue, my opinion is simply that your opinion stinks. There. Now you can't disagree with me.
ZzzzzzzzzzzzzZZ
Dreams of Hydaelyn
I was doing those boring repetitive guildleves anyway.
Yep nap time for work tonight! ;)
Well I only just got online... and kicked.
Early access is great...
The post about it on lodestone says different times than the post here on the forums, and I was out at the time, so.. have they been down just an hour or two hours already?

While I know these kind of hiccups are unavoidable with an MMO launch... that doesn't necessarily make it OK. These kind of things are OK when the game is in beta... not when the game goes live (which, technically, it has since Early Access was promoted as an incentive for preordering). The difference between beta and live?
Beta = Connection issues means suck it up... it's still in testing.
Live = Connection issues means upset customers and bad PR.
S-E needs to get the NA/EU datacenters up to snuff and fast. It's not instant gratification and it's not customer entitlement. It's common sense. Game reviewers are most likely reviewing the game at this point. It would be a very bad omen if, when reviews started popping up on respected (more or less...) gaming sites, there were mentions of localized connection issues that necessitated server outages. You think customers are harsh? Reviewers make even the most self-entitled customer look like a reincarnated saint in comparison.
I havn't paid for anything since 1.0 to attain Legacy status... But the fact remains that I have early access, and there's a 3 hour downtime. Totally not cool SE, totally not cool.
I understand it's rare for a MMO to release w/o having some kind of problem, but 3 hours? And the JP servers are JUST PERFECTLY FINE?! They're trying to kill us..
kinda like this

also, how are people surpassing the 1k character limit in posts?
I had a nice break but now I'm ready to continue.
no, not post count. im talking about the amount of characters you can have in your post. the limit is 1k. idk how many times it's redirected me to another page "your comment is too long, please shorten it to 1k characters"
so, my question is, how are people posting comments longer than 1k characters?
Taggerung if you post that edit it you can get more than 1k char.
Also why do they need 3 hours.. cant they fix the issue on there end than just do a restart? rather play with the DF broken than not play at all. :(
And... to top it all off... the forums are congested. I'm getting page cannot be displayed just browsing the forums. It's also being slow as all heck... It took me 4 retries just to be able to bring up this post to edit this post.
I'm confused. Would people rather have the duty finder/instance server down for the next 3 days which impacts progression a whole lot or a 3 hour maintenance to (maybe) fix the problem?
How can people say nap time? My eyes close but no sleep -____-
I'm just making a 'when NA/EU are down' character on a JPN server - after playing FFXI for 8 years with no real lag issues, I'm sure playing on the JPN servers now won't be bad while I wait...plus, they may end up being up more often >.>
The maintenance is perfectly timed, means I get to watch the Villa Vs Liverpool match with my undivided attention then get back in game just after the match finishes!
There was a in game warning to log out.
Lol! Need I remind you what WoW's open beta and first day was like? Or were you old enough to play then?
Let's just say this isn't so bad, especially considering we don't have to stand in line at the stores (hours in advance) to get our copies like we did back then.
u really didn't expect this?
common.....
I'm just happy that they are gonna fix it.
Beta was all about stress testing, so it's easy to understand they didn't want to fix it till the end.
But since we are in live now, they are actually fixing a problem within a hour of it occuring (granted it takes 3 hours to fix)... so 4 hours from the start of the problem to it being fixed (we hope)...
That is...well *twitches* I do need my Final Fantasy fix, BUT! They are going to make the game work better in 2 more hours, so more power to them!
I think most people are alittle aggrivated that its only NA/EU servers. Why are our servers so different from JP? Are they old or not staffed right?
Why isn't Japan troubled with this or in need of this patch?
Pretty much this. And for all the QQing:

Amazing how stable the JP servers always are >.>
