So now that there are some Dragoons on and answering questions =) can you confirm Lancer30+Pug15+Mar0= Dragoon?
Does anyone recommend a specific Grand Company for Dragoons. I'm kinda leaning towards the Gridania GC, but I'm not entirely sure if there's a right or wrong GC for Dragoons.
Based on the current GC gear, there really is no difference for your DRG, or any class, right now..
They will have higher level gear sometime, which may benefit a DRG or not, but I doubt they would implement GC gear that outclasses dungeon/job specific gear. Especially when Yoshi has stated that GC affiliation should be chosen based on whether you agree with their ideologies more or less than the others.
Choose your GC based on which you like, not on a class. :) The gear won't matter so much.
With the new materia system, you want Darksteel and Primal Weapons (or Obelisk if you have two [one for relic]). The Grid Officer Cap/Overcoat/Boots will make you marginally better than AF in the meantime. Also, if you got a Giantsgall Lance in 1.0, it has the potential (with Materia) to be quite nice. Nicer than GC at least, just depends on the Materia caps on it.
I hope someone can answer this question :)
Do DRGs bring anything to the table (utility) that would make them desirable assuming they aren't the #1 or even #2 dps? (let's just assume they're not). I know we have stuns, and a slow, but don't other classes? Is there any reason a party would want a DRG?
There seem to be some confusion regarding DRG's second sub: Most wiki/sites say that 1st sub is obviously lancer, and second one is pugilist, however i think ive read somewhere that the second sub is now marauder. Pretty sure some change has been made after P3 in that regard, do you guys know anything about this ?
Edit- Ah, apparently you guys don't know either. We'll see tomorrow i guess..
I suppose the best news is that even if it is MRD to 15 instead of PUG, it won't take too long to get there, and to those of us who got PUG to 15 -- We'll have some great abilities to pull from.
I thought it was PUG without a doubt, when did this change to "we dont know"???
Well at Lodestone say its is pugilist. (link: http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com...armoury01.html )
I think this one is right.
cya!
DRG is LNC + PUG + MAU.
It is assumed that PUG is the required lvl 15 to have and MAU is just to leech more skills from, however to be sure check you class trainer at lvl 30 or wait till someone confirms after launch.
I just wish there was some symbiosis between LNC/DRG and MRD/WAR so I could alternate between Tank and DD and get benefits in both directions.
So any confirmation second sub is PUG at this point ?
yah has anyone confirm pug is requirement for DRG?
You need PUG to unlock Dragoon. With DRG 50 your Sub's (the ones which skills you can pick even with equiped Job Soul) is PUG/LNC, that should confirm it. No? :)
In 1.0 your second Subclass was archer. They changed that with beta phase 4 i think.
Anyway to become DRG you need to be 30 LNC (Lancher) and at least 15 MRD (Marauder) changed from PUG (Pugulist).
Lancher and Pugulist are my favorite classes. =)
^ yup, Guildy confirms. he's a DRG now and needed 15 MRD to get it.
I'm Level 17 LNC and I just got PUG to level 8 when I heard that I may be leveling the wrong class. Post BETA , there has not been any confirmed information if DRG unlocks by using /Pug or /Mar
However what bothers me the most is if Legacy Servers have DRG already running about and they switch to say... any non Legacy Server do they lose the DRG if they dont have the cross abilities leveled up ?
It makes no sense for SE to change the set up... so I think the Key to Unlock remains the same LNC / PUG the other classes are to leech abilities from.
Note my level (Lancer 32):
It's currently Lancer 30 / Marauder 15 to unlock Dragoon.
There is no more speculation, people have confirmed with guildmates, and now I can confirm it for you guys here.
I still recommend leveling PUG at least until you get to Internal Release, as it has been one of my core subclass skills since beta. 20% Crit boost for 15 seconds is amazing
DRG48 here, in order to do the lv30 quest (to "unlock" DRG despite having it already) I needed to level MRD to 15.
hmm am i the only one who thinks jump should make u invincible during the actual jump ? x_X Went to cutters cry today and the final boss of the dungeon has a pretty nasty close range ability which is kinda hard to dodge with the server delay ... well u cn dodge it but u have less than a second to react x_X
At the very least, it'd be swell to be able to move sooner after the Jump animation is complete. During fights with extremely damaging charge attacks I rarely hit Jump anymore because I know the chance exists for the enemy to turn and slam into me with 3000+ damage.
Just got lvl 30 on my lancer and looking forward to unlocking Dragoon tonight!
Quick question; for solo questing and fate grinding, do you guys keep DRG job equipped or revert back to Lancer for the extra sub-skills?
I stick with DRG for the higher damage.
Does anyone recommend a good DPS rotation? Maybe it can help out my DPS a little. Also to maybe to help clear the hotbar of possibly less useful skills to make things a little easier for me on the PS3.
What normally do is to try and keep Slow and the DOT up. Followed by the Thrust chain and jump on cooldown. I also use the Pug crit cooldown and Blood for Blood.
Is this ok? Tips would be appreciated. (NOTE: My dragoon is currently 44 as of this post.)
Anyone have any tips for the second part of the level 30 Lancer class quest where I'm supposed to fight emo-lancer?
-----SPOILERS BELOW-----
I liked this fight a lot. Thought it was just the right amount of challenge and really wish the rest of the game would be like it. Take PUG's Second Wind and Featherfoot (and Internal Release if you have it). Have Straight Shot from ARC. Start the fight off with Straight Shot, stun him with Leg Sweep, shift to the side and hit him with Heavy Thrust. Try to keep these up whenever possible (so Heavy Thrust buff whenever he stops to cast or you can stun with Leg Sweep). Use Featherfoot and Keen Flurry consecutively to mitigate some of his damage (or you can save them for the adds). Your primary offense will come from True Thrust > Vorpal Thrust > Full Thrust. Use Life Surge right before Full Thrust for larger self heals. Burn his adds real quick when he spawns them. I noticed the casters doing pretty decent damage. When he starts charging his AoE attack that places that ice circle on the ground, get away and use Piercing Talon for the bit of extra damage. Just make sure to stay out of the circles as they do damage. Use High Potions if necessary.
That's about it.
Does anyone have recommendations on when to use jump? Seeing that there is an animationlock preventing you from using other skills for a short time, i dont think its smart to use it whenever possible (basic thrust combo seems more efficient in terms of dps).
What I'm noticing most Dragoons are failing at is that Jump is an off-attack (it had it's own attack timer). Therefore, just like Leg Sweep, you can use it in between combo attacks. This increases your DPS incredibly. For style points, I recommend spamming it as your Full Thrust animation is going off because then it looks like your character takes off from an upward attack into a Jump.
