Ifrit Battle going on now live

To me it just looks like they need to speed up the animation for eruption so that it happens a bit more quickly after the cast bar is complete. On the one where cactuar commented that the player thought she was safe, I think she had one foot in the circle when ifrit finished casting.

Well, if we have to watch the cast var to be safe, it's not so much different from watching the chat log as it happened in 1.0. I mean, now it's far easier, but some more tweak would be needed.

If they said "yes, it's the lags fault", they did not get in my teams.

People are just not paying enough attention again and they will again complain, that it is the game or lags fault.
If they had started moving, when they knew they should of, they would not be getting hit.. XD

Doesn't mean they were actually out of range.
Anyone who actually fought Ifrit, knows how it works and knows how to get hit by being stupid.
It can still look like "you shouldn't of gotten hit" though.
But you knew you should of, if you did.

Maybe there is a valid lag issue in this version but I HIGHLY doubt it.

Ugh I hate to continue this, but.

Congratulations to your internet. Some of us aren't so lucky. There were multiple times when I was literally on the other side of the map on my own monitor because that's how quickly I reacted after seeing cracks, but still got hit, because the server lag was so good. Server lag is NOT made up. I never complained about any other lag in 1.x except this because I know when I react quickly/correct and when I react poorly. If the latter, I know I deserve to get damaged, but many times it was the former, especially during Ifrit X.



I wish I was still in the industry and went to E3 so I could get a t-shirt! I feel sad that 1.x players can't get them, but randoms can. :(

To the awesome guy 2 posts above me: I was doing Ifrit "in my sleep" while on 1.0. I got hit ONLY from lag. Lag also means you see the eruption cracks LATER than someone with less lag does, which means you have LESS time to escape. I don't see how what you say makes any sense. Fact is that on 1.0 people who lagged had a much bigger disadvantage... Stop thinking you're so awesome because you beat Ifrit lol. Ifrit is easy. Lag made it "hard".

On-topic: I'm really not the type to analyze so much of these stuff from a trailer. I'll wait for the BETA to start and see how it is before I gib my feedbacks XP

You're a jerk then. Personally, I give every willing person one chance. If they're clearly incompetent THEN I won't invite them again. I didn't usually ask filter questions but if I did, it would usually only be something like "have you beaten this before?"

Just becuase they answered 'yes' to that question does not mean they make a habit of getting hit by them. And it's also technically not an inaccurate answer to the question, because at the end of the day, the visual effect should accurately represent where things are being hit. You can scold them for not reacting faster, but it's only natural to react to the visual stimuli (whch is less accurate than it should be).

Ifrit isn't rocket science, you don't need a pro team to win, once you learn the fight it's easy, even with the lag. It is undeniable that the lag makes it harder for players far from the servers than it should be because the window to move is smaller, however.

When people had given up.
BEFORE the update that made it easy due to people crying about it being too hard.

Everyone knew how to compensate. It was just easier for people to cry about it than actually use skill.

Which is why people like Blue Garter beat Ifrit, while everyone else was too busy crying about "ERMAGASH THE LAARRGGG!"

Having actually done the fight myself tonight on an NA server.. you have to move out of the way of the cracks as soon as they pop or you get hit.. even though they take a couple of seconds to go off and you're well clear.

Didn't have issues with any of the other stuff as far as avoidance though during the fight, just the cracks.

Most of my party (myself included) had done it in 1.0.. not having to worry about animation lock does make the fight quite a bit more enjoyable though ^^

The Ifrit in the beta can also be stunned. It's possible to go the entire battle without even having to dodge eruptions. His plume spam on the other hand? Shmeh...

my team went into the Ifrit battle with 2MRDs, 1LNC, and a THM, acting healer because CNJ's were rare to see anywhere outside of the Shroud. The first time the cracks killed the THM outright (he thought there was more leniency with them). The second time we made it past hellfire before a bad escape from cracks literally killed everyone but the tank(me), and I died because I was in the middle of the centre plumes and literally missed the edge by a second. It was so close and entirely my fault, could've finish Ifrit too if I had 10secs for my Hi-potion Cooldown to finish. The third time had no problems and we came out victorious.

I was going to ask if anyone has done the fight yet, but I figured it was too early. I was wrong lol.

I was in the hospital all weekend playing on the laptop. I was hoping I'd get to at least 25 by the end of the test, but I only made it to 16. I got stuck on that damn Level 15 quest forever too lol.

Since I play on JP server and connecting from outside of it atm, I noticed this is true regardless of any AoE. Even if you're 1 step too close too the AoE range you can still get hit occasionally. So I'd say it's definitely not a latency problem, it falls into how they're working the animation system, since I've seen people die as they get healed with medica or cures lol.

It is interesting.. this was the only fight I had trouble with avoiding stuff.. most of the other bits I did where you have the AoE you have a few seconds to react and get out of the way.. and this is only the GC/story version, not the end-game version.. guess we'll see if they tweak it some.
