FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Purchase Questions

Oh I know I automatically receive the digital CE items / game dlownload as a 1.0 CE holder, what I am looking for is the Physical items. Soundtrack, Art, Seventh Era Disc, and Art Cards, and possibly the box art. Without needing to repurchase everything =)

Im still confused, I was thinking of upgrading my 1.0 standart eddition to Collectors one, will it be able before the game launch or only after it?

I haven't seen anyone ask this question and I really want to make sure of the answer before I make a purchase. If you have a legacy account and you purchase the Hard copy of the CE, can you use that code on your legacy account or do you need to buy the digital upgrade to be able to apply it to your legacy account?

Camate, a clarrification is in order. I just pre ordered the PS3 CE from SE. On the completion page it stated, in RED, that my order would not ship til after the official release date of 27 Aug 2013. While I am Legacy and will get Early Access via my PC what about all the new subscribers who pre order from SE expecting early release entry. If they chose the default USPS Ground shipping they will not see their product til after the official release date if this true

You can use the codes on any account, including your existing one.

There's a preorder page it should be linking people to, http://preorder.na.finalfantasyxiv.com/us. You basically get a redemption code with your preorder, then come and stick it in this page when they announce it, and you get to download the software for early access.

So all of our characters get this stuff, right? Even new characters we make? Or is it just pre-existing characters? I only ask because of the below note on the upgrade...

Every character will get the items, I believe that bottom line note is because in 1.0 the in-game items you got when pre-ordering or from collectors would only be applied on new characters, any pre-made characters wouldn't get them.

For example in my case I had to send them a ticket and in the end I had to create a new character because I didn't applied the bonus items code before I made my character on the head start.

So is anyone else having problems with payment authorizations when trying to buy the CE through Square-Enix' store? I've already tried several times, and have looked at my online balance statements(Chasebank), and I keep getting failed authorization notices. I wish I could just buy this thing through Amazon.

You can check the Square Enix account management page to see if you registered an onion helm code, unless you purchased/received it from a third party. Other than that, I've seen no way to differentiate.

If you want the physical items you have to pay the full price for it.

Right now I have the standard version of the game. What I want to know is.. If I purchase the physical PC CE (for the physical swag) will I be able to use the registration code that came with it as the digital upgrade or would I have to purchase the PC CE as well as the digital upgrade to get both my physical and digital swag? It's just that this whole digital upgrade thing doesn't really specify if you can use a registration code from the physical CE or not kind of confusing.

Pretty sure you can; the item codes are separate from the game registration code iirc~

So I read this thread completely but I still unsure about the CE for the PC. Can someone let me know if the physical CE for the PC is going to be sold at other retailers? I always order any of my game from Amazon but all they have is just the digital CE for the PC. The sooner I can find out, the quicker I can go ahead and get my PO in.

you can just use the item code for your account and use the other FFXIV code for a second account or give it to a friend.

I know the 1.0 CE gets upgraded basically for ARR, but do 1.0 CE holders get the early access as well, or do we need to preorder another copy for that?

Also, when I do attempt to preorder from the website, nothing happens. It just refreshes the page perpetually (the billing page), without stating that there's an error.

Only Legacy and Pre-order get early access but remember all 1.0 account holder get to play beta4 which is even early access lol.

For those who thought, they simply could add the 2.0 CE Item Codes to their Standard 1.0 Account:

The German Rep Sasunaich created a FAQ thread which contains a passage about adding 2.0 CE codes to a Standard 1.0 account. At first it was said that this would be possible, but there is an update about this in the FAQ thread.

(Please note that I translated this passage by myself and I hope I got the message right.)

We really need a clarification on this. I was planning on getting the PS3 version anyway, so I bought the PS3 CE to kill two birds with one stone. I'd rather not have to also do a digital upgrade to get the digital items since I'm only planning on the using my current account on both systems.

I kinda get the feeling that they will be using the system that all other games companies use, that do not involve Item codes, but instead, the game code will flag your account as CE or Standard, according to which version you buy.

This being the case, only way to get CE on 1.0 Standards is by doing the digital upgrade, since applying multiple codes to 1 game account doesn't seem to be possible. Though I do agree that this should be possible, where people could add their 2.0 CE codes to their 1.0 Legacy Standard and turn it into a CE 2.0 account without losing anything from 1.0.

As for Buddy passes from 1.0, they are obviously not CE also, they are a basic standard that wouldn't even give you the pre-order items, all it gave was being able to play since the Early Start and also monthly subscribe without having to buy the game. Buddy passes were a bonus that CE owners got when buying their game, would be a bit silly if this pass gave CE status to whoever used it.

i'm sure the buddy passes or just normal account but we wont know too you can go and upgrade your account. Seeing how there no way to tell if you have normal or CE the only way to somewhat tell if you have the CE code item but you could easy just got that from a friend and put it on your account if that give you CE then that pretty dumb lol.

Unfortunately, the pre-order deal is being restricted to certain retailers. It may be that ozgameshop.com and other importers don't get access to these offers (they don't as yet).

I only wrote that I wished it would be like that. I know this is most likely not the case :/
Would make thinks easier for me to get the 2.0 CE items.
Hopefully there will be another update concerning Legacy players who own the Standard game.

Camate, I have a lil question. When will the "FFXIV Service Center" open?

It is my understanding that we cannot upgrade our standard account to a CE account digitally until this is launched. I hope that this service launches soon so I can pre-order my CE digital upgrade to get my in-game bonuses.

i relly need this answering because i dont find any info anywhere is the price Marked in blue at the top of the list Legacy price? also dose it meen that legcey mebers pay that price and out sub lasts for 180 days?! im a right in thinking that beacuse the bottom one is the same price and have less toons u can make and is only 30 day sub? dose any modderaters know imasking because im unsure and its not relly clear Thanks for the help if a modd answers

That's not the legacy price - basically if you look at the chart, from what it's saying is you can only purchase multi-month subscriptions if you have the standard package (40 char / 8 per server).

The chart is listing the monthly price instead of the complete price - the blue highlighted one is the best value for your money (hence the highlight).

For 180 day sub, you'll pay $12.99 / 7.99GBP / 10.99 EUR every 30 days for a total of 180 days (6 payments). the total cost will be - $77.94 / 47.94 GBP or 65.94 EUR

The multi-month subscriptions look a lot nicer when it's listed what you'll be charged for per month as opposed to the lump sums that I've listed above. It's a nice marketing tactic to make longer subscriptions look more appealing, even though you'll only be saving a little per month (Though it does add up!).

Around $2 / 1.30 GBP / 2.00 EUR per month, though if you add that up it can almost buy you an extra month of subscription.
$12 / 7.80 GBP / 12 EUR saved every 6 month cycle

I hope this clears up your confusion :)

As an edit:
The 'entry' subscription is best for those who do not want more than one character per server; it's at a permanent discounted rate because it suits those who do not and will not ever make an alternate character (but are still permitted to do so on other servers.).
The 'standard' subscription is well suited to those who would like to make multiple characters on the same account and are therefore charged a little extra.
Legacy is not being shown in the chart as we all know it's at an extremely discounted rate and that promotion is not being offered any longer so there's no point advertizing it for new players to wonder "Oh my gosh, how can I get Legacy?!" haha.
We are still unsure if Legacy will get multi-month subscription plans, but we are alredy getting a heavily discounted rate so I do not see it happening. :(

They won't advertise Legacy price thought to newcomers on the product overview page because then there will be a bunch of new players asking how to get legacy and that ship has saaailed my friend, saaaaiiiiled.
