Yeah I tried Pre-built one 3 times and they all broke down.. within a year >.>. So I built my own and it's last me 2.5 years and counting =).
Not all pre-builts are bad. I bought a Gateway in 2010 (for FFXIV lol) that has been reliable ever since, and i've been upgrading it. However I would recommend building instead. A lot of pre-builts are garbage though, but you can find a gem once and awhile.
I just put in a new card a GTX 650Ti
I'll be running the game with this system:
ASUS Maximus V Formula Motherboard
i7-3770K 3.50GHz CPU
16GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 2133 MHz RAM
OCZ Vertex 3 120GB SSD
Seagate 1TB HDD for storage
2 NVidia GeForce GTX 680s
My ex was huge into building computer so he helped me a bit with a limited budget I had back then.
But yeah it's a good 5 or more years old now. It does work OKAY. I can play Skyrim, FFXIV, Sims 3, and other graphics intensive stuff. The biggest problem is that sometimes my computer will randomly shut down while playing games.
With FFXIV it only shut down when I tried to have my browser open at the same time though.
I'm assuming that's from overheating?
I'd love some info if it's not too much trouble. My dad who has offered to buy me a new computer just says he'd buy me a prebuilt one but yeah, I have heard it's better to build your own. I just have NO idea where to start.
My computer would cost too much to upgrade for the time being. Although it has little issue with any games.
I know this is mostly computer stuff but I'm going to be upgrading my PS3 to a 500 GB Classic White Slim.
I just hope that the other PS3 I have (160 GB) won't have any problems with it so I can have my room mate play the game on it. I'm just a bit hesitant because they haven't really released the requirements for the PS3. How many GB are actually needed and if any Playstation 3 console is just fine to run the game. I could be worrying over nothing but I suppose I will find out soon enough in the live letter (hopefully). If there was any information I missed please feel free to share it!
Outside of storage capactiy, consoles of the same type typically don't have any different specs. So should be no issue.
getting a SSD and a second HDD for frapsing, but otherwise i'm pretty well set
Tech talk!
CPU: AMD Phenom X4 965
RAM: 6GB but I think I'm going to upgrade
GPU: 7970
Here's the thing I play on eyefinity (3 screens) so I was wondering if anyone else could share their eyefinity setups? Is it supported in ARR? Will crossfire be supported in ARR fullscreen mode? I doubt anyone has these answers yet but if SE happens to see this...

Just built a new rig since my 3 year old Asus G60 laptop was starting to show its age and I don't travel nearly as much anymore.
MB: Intel DZ77GAL-70K
CPU: i7 3770K, cooled by Corsair H100i
GPU: EVGA GTX 670 w/ 4GB GDDR5 VRAM
RAM: 16GB (4x 4GB) Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz DDR3
SSD: Crucial M4 256GB
HDD: Seagate 1.5TB 7200 RPM
So far my system stands as;
Intel i5 2500k @ 3.3Ghz
8GB Corsair 1333MHZ DDR3
60GB OCZ Agility 3
Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 680 OC Windforce X3 2GB GDDR5
However I purchased this most of these parts for doing video/audio/graphics editing, it'll be beastly for ARR.
Didn't bother with an i7, didnt see the point in the extra £100 for hyperthreading...
I got a z77 oc formula mb
2 550 ti sli
16 gb of ram
and a I7 3770k cpu unlocked
I will upgrade my hd to an ssd hd soon so I think that will do it but if I need to I'll upgrade my gpu again :)
I was going to wait for the benchmark before i decided to put together a build. I'm cheap so I'll prob only spend 1-2k.
my current build is from '11
windows 7
core i7 2600s
8gb ram
gtx460
etc stuffs
I think i only spent $800 on it. was going to do some upgrades later but it played 1.0 decent enough to never cause me any problems. Outside of ffxiv i usually only use it for an emulator (ps1/ps2 mostly), although it had no problems playing the new assassins creed, but i did.
building is easy, for first time builders i just recomend a paper and pencil, a philips screwdriver and a grounding thingy =P
Anyways.. Atzenx@hotmail.com. send me an email with your budget and we can go from there.
and yea your system is shutting down because of overheating and from what u said it sounds like your processor
CPU - 3930k @4.3Ghz (modest overclock atm, might go higher if I feel like it)
MB: ASUS Rampage IV Formula
GPU: EVGA GTX 680
RAM: 16GB (4x 4GB) G.Skill 1600MHz DDR3
SSD: 2 160GB Intel RAID 0
HDD: WD 1TB 7200 RPM (internal storage, most stuff is stored on my server)
Case: Cooler Master HAF X
no plans to upgrade this system yet. I normally upgrade once a year at least.
bought new laptop for ffxiv CPU: I7-3610Q 2.3ghz
GPU: Radeon 7970M
120gig SSD
8Gigs of ram
Grounding= Don't work on a Rug, Always touch the Power supply as that discharges anything on your hand to the battery, Have a Anti-shock wristband ( you should have it but not required as I don't use it I just always touch the battery before continuing). I learned alot from this computer I made ( and when I went to tech school there as well).
i7 930 @ 2.8 Ghz + HD 7970 + 6GB DDR3
I just updated my GPU from HD 5850 to HD 7970 few days ago :p
I wanted to be ready for benchmark but didn't come...
Cpu: i7 2700 3.5 overclocked @4.4 water cooled
Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V
GPU: amd 7970 radeon ( had 590 but it died T-T)
RAM: 32 gb ddr3 1600
Hard Drives: 128gb ssd and 120gb ssd
Power: 1200 watt
OS: ubuntu 12.04 64bit/window 7 64bit (windows tore down to nothing but basics i only play ffxiv on it nothing more)
Uhm, i got some 6-core CPU.
5770 GPU
6GB RAM. (should'v been 8, but 1 stick doesn't work)
I'm considering getting an SSD, and 7750ish card too :) don't think i'll need anything else really...
I didn't upgrade for ARR, as my old computer handled 1.0. I did, however, upgrade to this recently-
Cheapo MSI Z77
I5 3570k (can do 4.2 on air, but have no reason to so its back to stock.)
8gb DDR3 1600
HIS 2gb HD 7850 @ 1ghz. Need some new games, can't even make it break at sweat @ 1080p.
120gb SSD for OS, ARR and a few other things.
WINDOWS 7. I hate 8 so much.
Radacci- Get the SSD. It'll be the best upgrade you have ever made to a computer.
I don't think such things is overly necessary now-days. When i was more noobish, i had the Mobo attached right on the chassi...for 2 years...which i later learnt wasn't recommended ;D (when a friend helped me upgrade comp, and noted my mobo wasn't mounted on plugs)
Anyways, nothing happened in those 2 years!
Yes, so i heard ^^
A friend got it, and his comp booted in like a few seconds. before i finished sending a MSN message, while he restart comp haha.
Bought a new system for the first time when they announced 1.0, still got that which runs fine, just improved my graphics card :)
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (64 Bit)
CPU: AMD Phenom II x6 @2800 MHz
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 7850 2GB (Sapphire) / Upgrade from ATI Radeon HD 5750 1GB (Sapphire)
RAM: 4GB
HDD: 620GB
Wife has her new computer too, she has my old GPU but is running Windows 8... Can't think of words to describe my hatred for it, took me half an hour to find the control panel to change her resolution because they removed the damn start button, and we all know;

I upgraded the specs of my ***** in preparation for Miqo'te Online!
Thinking of upgrading my video card just don't really know what to get. I have a 450 if anyone know a good upgrade for around 150$ let me know :) i don't mind going ATI if it's good switch from my 450.
I only go with ATI cards as a preference, not really tried anything else... My 7850 cost me £150 which according to Google is $230 ^^;; I had a 5750 for 1.0 and tbh it ran it quite well, but that is still a tad on the expensive side iirc too (as somehow it cost me £30 less than my 7800 series).
Seems like the 450 > 5750 anyways should you probably wouldn't struggle anyways :p
just curious will this play a RR: AMD A6 1.50GHZ, quadcore 4gb ram, AMD RADEON HD 6520
I bought this laptop to play XIV back in 2010, it worked pretty well for the most part, did'nt have any trouble running the game on low/med settings and it still looked good...but recently it started rebooting whenever I play any games...so seriously thinking of getting a new one...just not sure who/which/when.
HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
AMD Phenom II N620 Dual-Core Processor (2 CPUs), ~2.8GHz
6GB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650
Mine's a pre-build Dell, 3+ years old, played XI and 1.0 on it just fine :p
Windows 7 64bit
Intel(R) i7 CPU 860 @ 2.80GHz (x8)
8GB Ram
Nvidia GEForce 240
I'm going to put in my son's old GTX560. This will also require a bigger PS. That's it. Certainly adequate!
I have RR Lightning, so, it's the best I can do since I don't live in Kansas!
Whether or not I upgrade anything depends how well my system runs ARR. Given that Yoshi had said any system that can run 1.0 can run ARR and at higher settings with less resources I think I'm good.
But I am currently running:-
AMD Phenom II X6 Black Edition 1090T 3.2GHz Socket AM3 6MB Cache
Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600MHz HyperX Genesis
Palit GTX 460 SONIC 2GB GDDR5
ViewSonic VX2439WM LCD TFT 24" HDMI Monitor
Asus Crosshair IV mobo
Windows 7 Ultimate 64
2x Seagate 1tb Sata3 HDD (the component that gimps my score lol)

It's getting dated but I am one of the few people I know that could run 1.0 at 50+fps with the AO on and all settings at max and less loading times than most people I knew. And it also gets a higher windows score than alot of friends newer systems. So I'm fairly confident that it will run ARR at high settings.
Upgrade wise maybe invest in a bigger monitor I dunno yet.
I don't want to do to much as I'm considering building a whole new pc with an Intel board and cpu. haven't decided on specifics yet.
I'm going to have to live with my laptop again, because no monies.
My System consists of :
Win8 PRO
CPU: INTEL I7-3820 3.6 GHZ 10M LGA
HD: 240 GB OCZ AGILITY 3 SATA III SSD
RAM: 32GB G-Skill Ripjaws
CYBERPOWER 240 WATER COOLER KIT
BLACK AZZA HURRICANE 2000 FULL TOWER GAMING CASE
PSU: THERMALTAKE SMART SERIES SP-850M 850W 80PLUS BRONZE
PROFESSIONAL CABLE WIRING
NVIDIA SUPERCLOCK GEFORCE GTX 660 TI 2GB 16X PCI X 2 in SLI
MOBO: ASUS X79 RAMPAGE IV EXTREME QUAD CROSSFIRE/ QUAD SLI
No need to upgrade mine.. I ran 1.0 on high, 60 frames with no problems at all while streaming it and 2.0's engine is supposed to be less demanding while looking great.
Might throw a 680 in my PC eventually, but that's for other reasons.
well if you factor in that final fantasy will be my hobby for an extended period of time its not that much.
say i play the game for 1 year w/ sub fees $120 and we'll go with a $1,500 build. its about $135 a month, $31.15 a week, $4.44 a day. 5 bux a day is pretty cheap, especially considering that im at home glued to my screen vs out on the town spending far more than that. Not to mention since i swore off women i have soo much extra cash now
Got my PC in 2011. In August 2012 I got me a new PSU and Case and last month I bought an SSD for the OS and smaller programs. Planning on installing ARR on it.
1.0 was running ok for me and I think ARR will do just fine.
My specs:
AMD Phenom II X4 955
Asus M4A77T
PowerColor Radeon HD 6850
8GB Kingston RAM (started with 4GB)
be quiet! PURE POWER CM BQT L8-CM-630W (started with 450W *cough*)
120GB Samsung 840 Basic and 500GB WD Blue
Sharkoon T28 blue Case
Did I forget something? xD
Thinking of buying a new Graphics Card when I got some spare money. What do you think about a 7850? ATM they are around 20€ more than I paid for the 6850 back in 2011 (paid ~ 156€).
