Really? Were you in closed alpha for 1.0? I remember me and my ls complaining our azzes off, nonstop. (good ole moogle inc days, memories...). We were just shocked that they continued to rush the game to launch in the state it was in. Even moreso I was shocked at the lack of progress that was made from closed alpha to open beta. 1.0 testers had a slew of issues to deal with, practically too many to ensure that they got addressed because response from the dev team was much slower and there wasn't enough time for them, apparently, to get it done ( not to mention being built on a crappy structure for MMOs to begin with).
The real problem is the devs were either high all the time or so defeated they just didn't care. NO matter what the testers say you are supposed to weight every matter and look into what people are talking about. Which in 1.0 beta was NOT done or maybe the entire beta was a waste of everyone's time since the game was in no shape to launch anyway and there was not enough time for them to add anything to make a difference.
Bringing up the 1.0 is futile and pointless because the problems were above and beyond what the testers had any control over. It was all on SE don't even bring up the last pool of testers. That last but is directed at Solace who obviously is so blinded by being jaded didn't notice they was plenty of useful feedback in the 1.0 beta regardless of the forum bickering.
O_O so if were already fighting/arguing and criticising each others posts... how are we going to be clear on what needs fixing in beta?
side note: I think we can all agree that Yoshida will take a complately different path than the previous team. He and his team has shown repeated sign that they readily listen to what we have to say, even if they don't respond for whatever reason. We should also notice that there is no sign for actual release date yet; this is most likely because they want to see the number of issues in 2.0. If there are so many issues that they can't realistically fix at least most of them and get feedback of that changes by release date, there will no doubt be a delay. This may be obvious but all the future testers out there shouldn't be compelled not to present problems to the team because of a fear for delay on the release date since you'll still be in the beta. It should instead compel you to find as many issues as possible in the hopes that the team extends the beta.
Yoshi said, and Wada agreed; FFXIV AAR will not launch until Yoshi feels it is right.
No more rushing to beat the release of another MMO.
That really was the true downfall of 1.0.

Man, some of you just will not let the bygones be bygones.
This IS ARR and YP is the project leader. The OLD 1.0 devs has been out of the picture many patch releases ago, might I add. Please, stop crying, lick your boo-boos of 1.0 alpha/beta and let it go already.
Please, cut the negative and stop keep feeding yourselves, and the community, with sh*t that has already been cleaned up by the current ARR dev team.
If you still do not believe ARR will change for the better, please go re-read the beta road map again, and try to retain and understand what is said within this time.
Oh yeah, and don't go whining in ARR beta forum how you want the "old 1.0 features" back and at the same time b*tching about how badly implemented 1.0 was; as many have done in the ARR alpha forum.

you have this feeling because we are going to have 100 topics bitching that only legacy got in beta1 etc. You prophesy great and wise things o' Zanaku...your name is getting me hungry. It sounds like a chicken rice bowl...and I want that chicken rice bowl bad. Like way bad.
I dont think people like solace have ever been in a beta... out of every alpha/beta I have been in I dont think I have ever found a bug that hadnt been reported yet, when i go to report there are already threads on it. So obviously people are reporting these. If you read the information given to you in a alpha/beta you would realize half of testing is just being on the server, you could be totally afk and your presence is still providing a sort of feedback(its called stress testing).
As far as his weak comments on 1.0 alpha testers, it has been said already, we complained and they didnt answer so we assumed there would be way more in the launch version. Aside from all of that it sounds like he is blaming the failure of 1.0 on the alpha and beta testers and not the people who actually created the game... LOL youre a funny guy
I have a question and did't want to start a new threat so I'll post this here how do I confirm if i'm a legacy member is there a way to check it I remember seeing the legacy icon on my loging screen but I just want to make sure thanks see you soon
You can have fun "playing" in the beta, while Testers do their "job" at finding bugs... it's not hard to do both.
You really have to let the bugs come to you and not ignore them like it's a little thing. A little thing to you can be gamebreaking for a lot of people.
Me: Running around killing monsters ( Fun part)
Me: Notices that this monsters won't die at zero HP/Notices this monsters HP won't drop below 50%. ( Doing your job part).
Me: Reports it in for SE to fix this issue ( if I don't send it in there's a possibility it can effect launch.
You can have fun in Beta, no one is saying to not have "fun". but you also have to do your job, If you spot ANY bugs, report them ASAP.
I agree to this wholeheartedly. Often, betas are meant to be played as normal, to see how the game handles and to find bugs just by shear numbers of players. They may not even be asking us to go out of our way to find bugs, they may merely want us to play with the new features and see if anything goes wrong. Of course you are open to try and find ways to get under the world, find possible exploits, and try to confuse the AI of the game, but in my opinion this is not required of a beta tester.
What IS required is to actually play the game, as often as you can or on the dev's schedule. The more you play, the more likely you will find the bugs they are looking for.
bug finding is part of betas but right, the big part is playing and send feedback on what you think something should be (stupid example, "i think this ability should do this instead of that").
sucks, i was checking regularly for alpha invite and didn't see it then i go to check for beta and there it is. i could of played alpha>< bet i don't get in beta now though. ...what luck.
