I'm going to wager that the beta will start on FEB 9th -5 EST.
FFXIV newsletter? I only got the FFXI related one x_x
I'm thinking about time to "prepare", (but everyone should have already been prepared for something like this @_@) and the testing would start when it's mostly convenient to Japan first and world-wide as best as possible.
In Japan kids usually go to a half day school on Saturdays, so it might be best to start beta going into Sunday for them and the rest of the world will have their Saturdays to play beta.
Whelp, the reason I've put so much effort into my Japanese and German is finally almost here!
Well, one reason anyway. That and trying to get a job in the localization scene...
Vel, every time I see your sig I think. "Tourists." Lol
I think the whole time I'm in Beta I'll be testing gathering. Anyone want to team up?
Had to do this quick at work, but you get the idea:
This is what the forums feel like today. XD

Well, if you applied anyhow you would see a confirmation E-mail stating you put in an application. I did it anyhow just to be safe, and I got the E-mail, so I know that I have the right E-mail address on File =).
I hope we get to download the game client ahead of time. I want to be able to start right away!
Yes they have.. even when they said they're behind schedule, I wasn't even upset. I was just so impressed with the fact that they were keeping us up to date as much as possible. These last month has been agonizing though while waiting for Beta news.
On top of that.. I'm in the middle of a move so I've had no TV or internet to keep me distracted unless I'm here at work, and even then it's still agonizing because there hasn't been any news up until last week lol
I clicked on the link they gave and signed in with my email instead of my id. Got got the newsletter after that.
Can't wait.. its gonna be fun times.
Regarding the OP's comment on how accurate their timelines have been sinc1.23 i would have to agree. their original raodmap did project quite far into the future of the re-development of FFXIV so i wasnt suprised when things were a little off near the end. That was what got FFXIV in a pickle in the first place, setting deadline then forcing themselves to meet them. Its good to set goals but its far better to move those goals when it will benefit the project.
Anyway, the reason i was posting was to say that i thought i heard somewhere that the alpha phases went surprisingly well, much better than anticipated. At the end of alpha phase 1 (i think) people were saying the game should be ready for beta or even release with how well everything worked and how few bugs people actually found. With that being said, I am optimistic they will get through this beta testing phase efficiently (as long as they arent bogged down with too many trolling complaints of people wanting to change every aspect of the game instead of looking for bugs in the systems they ahve developed.)
I will be looking for bugs AND making suggestions and expressing my opinion about the gathering system likes and dislikes in beta and after launch and I hope that they continue to be as responsive as they have been.
So long as people can tell the difference. I'll be making comments in favor of gathering from the point of view of someone who plans to be doing this a while so,fair warning I might get picky. It will probably annoy some who are more interested in other aspects of the game :(
We need to make Groups!
- Crafters
- Gatherers
- Combat
Team Combat Unite!!
I'm personally very excited to get back into this game.
I expect the beta to go smoothly. Alpha lasted about 1-2 months, which I determined that this is a reflection of the quality and effectiveness of the development team. With the timeline schedule of beta I dont feel we'll have to wait too long for a great game.
In no way do i foresee a repeat of 1.0
What I fear the most, is Day 1 Launch when All Players that are awaiting to play this game, go full force on the Download and Full Force actually getting into the game.
If people have a hard time getting into the game, there will be many players that will just drop the game just for that very reason, Especially after the flop 1.0 had. If there's even a slight bit of frustration some people will say, "It's 1.0 all over again goodbye!"
I am harcor legacy player heard we need to update our email i forgot my security code such as favorite pet ect.) wont let me update email any ideas what i do? thx
We'll need more weavers because there will be a yarn shortage.
I'm likely going to just remake my original sexy, badass self from 1.0 until the data is transferred in phase 3.
I'll also be starting to recruit people for the most awesome linkshell ever for the Balmung server. Since they're allowing stronger shell management, I wont have to worry if some people join in beta but not in the main game.
The Abyssal Pirates wants YOU to join!! Yarr...
I get XI Newsletters on a different (my older) email than XIV emails. So not all SE generated email goes to the same place. During mid-alpha I changed my email. About 2 weeks later I got my alpha invite on the older email (though not the same one as the XI newsletters). This most recent XIV email came to my most updated email (the one I changed it to mid-Alpha). However, I am able to get into ALL of my email accounts, whether old or new, so for me it doesn't really matter which email they send mine on.
Marek, you will need to get into the email that is listed on your SE account. If you aren't able to change your email, maybe you can call SE and explain and they can reset your PW?
 why, why do i have to unistall the best thing to happen to my PC, this marks the hardest decision of my life. I want to carry it through but i think i'm going to need some sort of reassurance to know that i will be getting it back. I mean its not worth anything anymore, the servers are gone and its just hording disk space. I'm still having troubles letting go of version 1.0 :(
Yay for Legacy. I can't wait to play FFXIV AGAIN
Well, I should be all set for Beta Test. I just reformatted my SSD. It cleaned off FFXI and FFXIV 1.0 and some other games I had on it. Did a clean install of Win8, am installing AION now while I wait for Beta. My body and computer are ready and waiting for the legacy DL link!
Legacy go hard or go home!!!!!!! Aruuuuuu!
Im still debating wether i should by a gaming PC or just playing the game on my PS3
First I'll have to check if my mother's computer will actually run it... >_< My old computer's gone and I'm waiting on my laptop.
Then I'll go make my male miqo'te. :) Was thinking blue hair instead of red!
I keep everything under 1 e-mail, because I really don't see the need for Multiple e-mails, I had this same 1 e-mail for like 10 years and it's still going =). I did double check to make sure that the e-mail was indeed correct. However, I knew it was because I don't know what other e-mail to could be ( since I only have one :P). but I didn't take for granted that other people have more than 1 e-mail, so I apologize.
