Your controller battery life is much better than my wireless xbox 360 controller for windows. I'm lucky to go a month playing at that rate.

I don't have any haywire issues though. I do notice the camera analog stick doesn't return to neutral position sometimes with FFXIV 1.0, so sometimes the camera rotates very slowly till I correct it.

I'm glad I bought one, I don't like fiddling around with PS3 controller and settings. I turn it on and it just works. However this is the price we pay.

Rumble, six axis, everything. Although sixaxis wasnt in 1.0, but it might be in 2.0. I'm surprised at hearing problems with ps3 controller and/or motionjoy, it has more customization options than the ps3 itself. I haven't tried it wired yet actually, maybe thats where the problems stem from, I sync'd my ps3 controller with my pc at least a year ago, it hasn't been plugged in since.

i also used a ps3 controller for ffxiv but motionjoy was stupid, it disconnected my controller all the time and it gave me bluescreens. Now im using a xbox controller, it took me a lil while to get used to it but now its just as good :)

I did not want to mess with ps3 controller and drivers and such so i got a lot of 3 party controller. But even the good one the rubber inside always broke so the x and stuff never work right. Too i just got myself a PC wire xbox controller and never look back it took me a while also to get use to the xbox layout but it sure out last any of my old controller that for sure.

Overall i think xbox controller was best pick due to the fact that about every game that use controller. Can use a xbox controller without issue like the walking dead game and such. Most games i had to find a way to make it work for other controllers.

Sweet, can you share what type of bluetooth hardware you use? I know MotioninJoy lists a few, but I always feel more confident in my purchases when I know it worked for somebody else.

With MotionInJoy, you can make the computer think your PS3 controller is a 360 controller. So it'll work perfectly with PC games that have 360 settings. Or you can have it work as a normal USB gamepad. It's really flexible.

I use a PS3 controller for Dark Souls for example (and I texture swap the 360 buttons with PS3 buttons!)

Motionjoy has an 'official' one from a third party site, if you're into waiting a month for things to ship from overseas, but I got one from ebay awhile ago works great also, its a trendnet TBW-105ub($10)

Exactly. Why should I have to start it every time the PC boots? You don't have to install the drivers every time you plug in hardware, you plug it in and it works. With the DS3 driver, you're forced to start the program at least once per boot, because the creator wants you to open the ad-filled page. The rest of the "software" works pretty half-assedly too. Settings are often not saved and it resets to ps1 analog mode. Or, my favorite, you set it to PS3 mode, enable analog and the pad disconnects. But the DS tool still thinks it's there! Yay!

Good to know, thanks. I'm running Pro since it's the edition I'm getting from the universtiy. Too bad the driver doesn't have BT support though...

Logictech is my favorite alternate to Microsoft hardware. At least I can still buy their keyboard and mice in the future. I do have a wireless Logictech keyboard.

I used a PS2 controller with usb adapter. Force Feedback worked.
I'm sure on your PS3 controller it didn't worked because of MotioninJoy, not because the controller.

Later I wanted a wireless controller. I tested the XBox controller, but the d-pad was terrible (who had the idea to make a d-pad that works like a third analog stick?). Then I switched to PS3 controller with MotioninJoy. It worked long times, but then the MotioninJoy server was down for some days and the program don't work if the server is down.
Then I bought a PC-PlayStation-STRIKE-Wireless-Gamepad from Speedlink. It works perfect without that I need to install a 3rd party driver. But I don't remember if force feedback worked or not with that controller.

The problem with "PC" gamepads is, they don't live long for some reason. I had 3 different gamepads, 3 different companies, 3 different prices. None of them survived over a year of gaming. My PS2 pad I got back in 2002 is still alive and kicking without any side effects.

Also, personally, Logitech = never again, for anything.

Not sure how long my Xbox 360 controller for windows will last. It's over 2 years old and still works exactly the same as when I bought it.

Yeah, that's because it's an Xbox controller, it was made with constant gaming in mind - heavy duty. To me it looks like PC controllers are made with casual use in mind, since most PC gamers rarely use a gamepad.

Hey if you know of a better program with plug and play feature I'm all for it, I tried several different programs but motionjoy is closest to plug and play I could find. Also vibration works just fine with it, I've been playing Devil May Cry 5 now for a few days.

Aww. That's too bad. I'm pretty happy with the F710 and have been using it for about 2 years now.

I think I'll buy a replacement this weekend before they get scare. I'd like to have another one in case mine ever stops working.

I'm sorry if my post came off as an attack on you, I'm just allergic to sloppily written software. You are right that it's the closest that comes to a complete package atm, so I'm stuck with it just like almost everyone else. If Sony wasn't an a-hole, they'd just provide official drivers, but that ain't happening.

The camera rotation issue is due to having the controller set to the wrong calibration in the XIV Gamepad options.

Yeah if you go to Game Controllers in the Control panel in Windows. and go to Calibration that should fix the problem. If the controller has some age you should be able to increase the deadzone on the joystick. However it will give you less throw on your movement and your character will turn around kinda jerky or not when you expect him to.

(I almsot forgot we were talking about 360 controllers, but I'll leave this hear in case it helps someone)
It's either that or You have Six Axis turned on your controller. For the longest time I thought there was something wrong with my camera because the camera kept drifting left, right, up or down! Turns out I needed to disable controls for the Six Axis controls for motion movement. That fixed my camera drift problem.

I have yet to find a good use for Six Axis controls in FFXIV. I just leave them off.
