Why jot down January 7th?

Well I'll give Yoshi-P some more credit, he's got my interest when he does things like this. Look at how the last scripture turned out...

The floppy Yoshi-P around his waist....wouldn't that represent the Archer/Bard ability Decoy? XD

Actually it says "To both our Legacy adventurers as well as those eagerly awaiting A Realm Reborn, we hope we can continue relying on your support this new year! (By way of a tip-off, be sure to jot January 7 down on your calendars! :)" so I'm going to guess that it's either the first benchmark (sans character creator) and/or beta signup site launch.

My inactive slots say January 5. My main not-to-delete says March 31.

I hope you're right as I think most of us here will have no need for the beta app.

I think it's 50/50 though. Both were indicated to be coming soon (Beta app even being specifically indicated for early January somewhere?)*

probably Benchmark, because he did say 1st benchmark is before the start of Beta, and the 2nd benchmark is before the launch.

2nd Benchmark is the Character Creation kit. 1st one is the normal benchmark

I thinking both benchmark and beta apps when ffxiv 1.0 had beta they release both so you can test how high score you got to see what your pc does with the beta version.

I'm going to guess a new Live producer letter.

I was wondering about that. For some reason, to me, it just doesn't seem like it fits well with the rest of the picture. I think maybe it is a way of saying that he is brand new and refreshed.

Jan. 7 is obviously the day that the milk in Yoshi-P's fridge expires. I don't know what all this fussing is about...

Well it does tie in with the year of the snake (snakes shed their skin.) and it also ties in with renewal as was mentioned earlier; figuratively, Yoshi-P (and ffxiv) are shedding their proverbial skins for the new launch.

Personally I wouldn't get overly excited about the 7th, there's only a few things it might really be.

1.) When sign-ups for Beta Testing begins.
2.) A new trailer.
3.) A new Producer letter, perhaps a Live one?
4.) More information about the current status of ARR, possibly a few new tidbits of information.
5.) All of the above/any combination of the above.

I'm betting it'll probably be when Beta sign-ups begin, and maybe some new info if not a second teaser trailer regarding ARR. Didn't they mention something about there being a three-part trailer series to shed some insight on what happened? I might just be imagining it but overall I'm not really seeing it being something to piss your pants about or sit around pondering for too long. We'll know in about five days anyhow so sit back and just relax.

Did anyone else notice the snake has moogle wings and a crown? I have no idea what the significance of that would be, if any, but it reminds my of our friend Good King Moggle Mog.

I was curious about the wings as well. But he didn't have a bobble so I didn't want to assume they were moogle wings.

cant wait to see what comes to us on the 7th! ^^ so excited! I really hope it is a benchmark :D

A lot of speculation going on here so I will add mine.

1. Beta Apps open - I agree. The roadmap did say early January
2. Benchmark - I hope so. Will believe it when I see it.
3. Letter from the Editor - Again I agree though it will not be a live letter. Those require a great deal of preparation and we are normally given details well in advance. This letter will probably be an introduction to all that is planned for the 7th and the immediate future and possibly an update on developments.


In addition I would not read too much into the picture. I think it is just a whimsical expression of Yoshi-P and the forces at his command <is that Soken hanging out of his thigh high leggings?>

I'm guessing the beta application site will open on the 7th. And even though all Legacy members will be accepted into beta, I believe I read somewhere that you still have to actually apply to participate.

On the 7th day SE is going to take a break step back and show us what they have created.....

He will tell everyone that RDM(carbon-copy from XI) will be released at launch!
