BETA TEST ROADMAP IS UP!

On "Just a reminder~ Nico Nico Event for A Realm Reborn Live" Thread someone translated yoshi saying that everyone with Legacy status will be in beta phase 1.

Let's look at something that may make more sense.

- Amount of Legacy Players ( It's an unknown number, but I still think it's a high number *40k*)

So If there's 10 worlds at 2k a Server Half the people will get in ( and assume it will Constantly grow until ALL Legacy Members are in).

If they 5k a Server It's very Possible all of us can get in.

2k people a server and even 5k people a server is EXTREMELY low. That wouldn't even get near simulating official service conditions making the "stress testing" completely moot.

Concurrent players and total players are very different things, and in MMORPGs it's very rare than more than 10-20% of a server's active population is online concurrently at any given time.

Only this community would be dense enough to need clarification on the word 'qualify'.

QUALIFY: MEETS THE REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTRY.

If you QUALIFY for the race, it means you are IN the race. You have gained entry.

QUALIFY: "Be entitled to a particular benefit or privilege by fulfilling a necessary condition"

"Qualify as TESTERS" means you meet the requirements to gain entry for testing.

Good grief what a bunch of nitpickers. Yes, that's right. All legacy players get access to BETA 1.

I don' know if I'll be in for beta testing from phase one as I'm legacy or if I won't get an invite, but I'm glad enough we get a head start from the open beta and the early access with our good old characters =D.

Can't wait to get billed for FFXIV again each month.

How do you include delays? The best you can do is give yourself some extra buffer, but how can you predict what sort of bugs you're going to have to fix? I don't think you can read these numbers as set in stone sort of things. That's why they have "this schedule is subject to change" plastered all over the place. I'll hope for a release sooner than June, but won't be surprised/disappointed if it doesn't happen until after that.

LoL! I was just about to post something similar to this. Its not even an argument. Because they could have easily said:

All Legacy members players can qualify for Beta 1. And that would make the point everyone is arguing against valid.

But the fact that they said. "All legacy holders qualify as a tester for Beta1" notes total access to the privilege being offered. That user qualifies to test beta1.

You need the code to get the Beta ticket. YOu don't have to literally have in your hot Lalahands, you just need to have it somewhere stored or saved on your computer... or written down in a notebook.

I never played XIII but I'm Legacy so I get into Beta for PC! Yayzors! \o.O/

P.S. if you entered it, then it's recorded in your account somewhere... ask a customer service Rep or wait for more info.

The "this schedule is subject to change" is just a rear shield in case something goes horribly wrong. Mentioning a best and a worst case scenario means exactly taking in account most problems and issues.

Start : Mid-February
Phase 1 : Four weeks -> Mid-March
Phase 1 debug : Two weeks -> End of March
Phase 2 : Three weeks -> Late April
Phase 2 debug : Two weeks -> Early May
Phase 3 : Three weeks -> End of May
Phase 3 debug : Two weeks -> Mid-June
Phase 4 : Two weeks -> End of June (Start of summer)
Lauch : July

Without any "subject to change" delay, July is pretty much the earlier we'll see the game and, at least, "summer" is sure.

I'm just saying though that software development is notorious for setting a deadline which includes bug fixing, and having the deadline be pushed back over and over. You can't just say "well, that time span includes delays so there's no way the release date will be later than what they say."

About Phase 3 and our 1.0 characters, if we use them in Phase 3 will we be able to re-make them in Phase 3 and if we do use them in Phase 3 how will it work when we go into Phase 4? I assume you won't just delete our 1.0 characters. So if someone can clarify how it will work it will be much appreciated.

Well I know we all got some points or something, when we put the PS3 code into the SE club memberships site. That was around launch time of FF13, but I would think everyone would have gotten around to doing that. If so, your SE account is supposed to be linked to your SE members account. So all should be well.

There are couple anime's with character name Reinheart, I think spelled Rainheart or Reinhardt though.

I pretty much got it that legacy accounts got into the game from phase 1, but what about non-legacy? People who played the 1.0 version, even until the very end, but not for enough months to get the status?
I don't ask for priviledges, and I'm okay with legacy accounts getting in before me. What I ask is: will we still get to hope to get selected from phase 1 or is that exclusive to legacy players?

I think our progression for 1.0 will be wiped, when phase 4 begins. Cause the map says we can use our 1.0 characters for the phase 4,again. And it said in Phase 3 "Characters will be deleted come the start of phase 4" the only difference is, our 1.0 characters will not get wiped from phase 4 --> Official launch.

Of course you can't rule out that theory, but they have a 2 week delay window they can follow, so it shouldn't be to hard.

Delays are inevitable, I wouldn't even count on the beta starting mid February. If some major bugs are still being worked on it could slip until the end of the month.

"All FFXIV service account holders qualify as testers in phase 3."

I'm thinking, if applications are done in Jan. that invites are going to be randomly picked like it was for alpha, exception being Legacy players as they automatically get to start from phase 1-4. From phase 3-4 the remainder of FFXIV account holders get to access the beta at will.

It seems that YoshiP is still up so I questioned him to confirm about the legacy status, since nico nama's last part from the summary page seems that all legacy players can get in from beta first phase without going through selection process.

If you're non-legacy you'll have to pray you get an invite via e-mail, which could even be phase 1. This applies whether you played V1 or never touched it. But come phase 3 if you did play V1 you're in. If you never touched V1 you're in from phase 4 unless you get lucky.

I don't know why it seems so difficult to figure out.

- Characters created during this phase will be carried over to the official release. ( Phase 4)

Which at this point mine as well call it Official release since it won't be deleted at that point :p.

So if I am playing with my 1.0 character in phase 4, does anything I do get carried over to release since new characters created are carried over?

I'm confused here and here is where my confusion lies...

-Is the 1.0 character imported completely at the start of phase 4? if there is a level cap?
-How are we choosing a world if all players from say Gungir are to be put back on whatever new Gungir is?
-I can do everything that will be available at launch in phase 4? and it is saved on my existing imported 1.0 character to launch?

i think phase 4 is kinda of a early access.....

Nothing really needs clarification to me, but since we can use 1.0 characters in phase 3 but "phase 3 characters will be deleted at the start of phase 4" doesn't mean we'll lose our 1.0 characters right/ just whatever was done in phase 3? lol...

Hm, so all Legacy members will be in Beta phase 1. That's nice.

Well, at last those peeved they didn't get into alpha can freakin relax. Well, if they're Legacy members, that is. It's a shame that the NDA is still in place though. I'd love to give my $0.02 on beta to my subs on youtube.

In addition to wondering at what point we will be able to remake/rename characters (I do not plan to make any changes), I also really want to know when we will know server information so that we have ample time in advance to coordinate with our friends/linkshells on how/where to put/log in with our characters.
