So it will be fun to have 2 style of pants for those who want with pants and those no pants to make more unique or maybe when you get the chest you and open it there option between the 2 style if you choose pants you cant have the other and if you choose no pants then you cant have the pants style
If we have viera and red mage i want that equipe and that emote :P

lollllllllllllllllllllllll
This looks really well done, I especially love the sidearm, I think it could give a shot in the arm to the Red Mage job's function in a party. =)
Needs pants so badly.
What's up with people asking for pants? ...
Awesome Pic.
It's a little risque, but we've all clearly seen worse. I'd prefer shorts to it ala FFXI so that looking sexy isn't the entire point of the outfit. I don't think you have to be gay or a feminist to not want characters looking like they're going to the beach during battle.
i know its FF11 its was wrote on the link :P i just took that picture say there is pants style red mage ...but me i prefer skirt or black undies lol but still should have choice when open the chest or box when find each AF pants or sexy panties so be different of other :P
Imagine that; female armor with minimal, revealing protection.
I hope we get RDM soon after the release of ARR. If it looks anything like that, I'll be happy
I hope Dev Team examines that artwork thoroughly, because it is simply badass.
Excellent work by the artist. Dev Team, let's see a Red Mage based on this please ;-;!
That says "Magic Swordsman" not "Red Mage."
Red Mage is 赤魔術師. (lit. Red Magic User or Red Magic Technique User)
Magic Swordsman is 魔法剣士.
Nice artwork all the same.
Even these pictures are something I would see Yoshida holding up in one of his Live letters or Gaming Events. I also think this artist is protecting himself by saying its XI artwork when it (could be) XIV just by looking at it.
From a past player's poll I remember players asking for more Hybrid Classes/jobs. So it wouldn't be a surprise if Red Mage shows up as Rune Fencer/Muskateer/Gun Mage.
I like, I'd have probably given her shorts over a thong, but definitely feels like a red mage. (Especially like the cape/cloak) I'm a little puzzled over why she has a gun though. (you sure she's supposed to be a rdm, and not a musketeer?)

I wonder what it says...
These illustrations are a good example of the Musketeer (class) > Red Mage (job) path. :)
I suspect that is the path the devs will take with it.
The style is very Akihiko Yoshida inspired~ I like it.
I'm starting to wonder if they might actually do MSK > RDM. It seems a lot more popular than I thought it would be.
I'd be ok with that :D.
EDIT: Also, I would wear the hell out of those outfits. Some pants would be nice on the RDM concept, but otherwise it's gorgeous.
In Zant's case, I think she does mean for Musketeer (rifleman/pistols/whatever) to go to Red Mage though. Having a shooty redmage would be interesting, and if they go the path of enfeebles/buffs like in XI, a shooty redmage would be similar to FFTA2's Cannoneer class.
I'd be perfectly with magic bullets myself.
All I know is that design is amazing and I seem to have wet myself as a result.
I think it's more Fencer than RDM. RDM is most likely the last job they will add, it's so unimportant compared to: Summoner, Musketeer, Thief, or Ranger.
It's kinda cool how fanmade artwork of this caliber can not only garner wide approval, but spur discussion and speculation, haha. I think the artist would be flattered.
As others have pointed out, the kanji reads "mahou kenshi" a job which has appeared in Final Fantasy titles over the years, known in English as "Mystic Knight," "Spellblade," "Spell Fencer," and commonly translated as "Magic Swordsman." Mystic Knights have the ability to imbue their weapons with magical properties. The artist/designer has foregone naming the design "akamadoushi" (Red Mage); however, the resemblance to an archetypical FF Red Mage is apparent (medium, red armor; feather-tipped hat; one-handed sword).
Of note, in one of his responses, Yoshida has stated that currently the Monk job plays too much like "mahou kenshi" so they decided to overhaul its play style.
Um.. A Musketeer is a French Soldier who is perficient with Rapiers and Flintlock Pistols..
