So..are you guys playing other MMOs besides XI till 2.0 launches?

I would love to go back to FFXI, but it's time has passed. Can never go back to the good old days of exploring, missions BCNM's and the like in a close nit LS. Not without gathering a lot of like minded people from FFXIV on one server at least.

I tried Terra's trial and just couldn't get into it, the entire thing is too much of a wow clone despite it's battle system. I do hope FFXIV doesn't copy the "12 bear pelts" model

I would get back into MH Tri but they're releasing a new one early next year in the US finally. 3DS and WiiU, cross platform play (though only the WiiU can go online).

I'm playing GW2. Not particularily hardcore, but still. But it can never be like FFXIV.

I feel bad that a lot of people in this thread have resorted to playing GW2. Those poor unfortunate souls... in pain... in need.

I caved and reactivated my XI account, its still there after 11 months of inactivity. Guess I'll see whats goin on.

Checking out Star Wars.

It's...got voice acting for the story and side quests.
Other than that, running around seems the same as other f2p mmo's.

Ffxiv's graphics spoiled me, though. Playing SW on the highest settings don't quite impress me. O_o

I'll likely just go back to adding mods for Skyrim.

I've been playing Mechwarrior Online, and Spartan Ops in Halo 4.(callsign/gamertag is identical to my forum name.) I've also been playing XI (my old LS is still around, yay!) solo leveling many of my lower jobs and re-learning what's new. (you know you've played XIV too long when you try to dismount from a chocobo in XI by pressing F)

am in XI atm working on getting complete +2 set AF3 for SMN.

I'm playing FFXIII-2 which I'm almost finished with. After that I'll probably try to burn through the Mass Effect series. But, no MMOs.

tera isn't very fun to play alone
lotr is trash
rift is trash
wow is still the best MMO available but the panda expansion is completely awful and i want it to die

as bad as xi is, it seems to be the only decent option. so i'll be splitting time between xi and non-MMOs until xiv 2.0.

based on numbers alone, yes, they would be superior.

they're not quite the same, though. you're basically comparing suntan lotion to sunscreen. you put them both on your skin and they both have "sun" in the title, but you use them quite differently. i listed the MMOs i did for a reason- they're directly comparable to WoW and yet fail to even begin to rival it. WoW isn't trying to be or beat maplestory, maplestory isn't trying to be or beat WoW.

furthermore, maplestory is the prime example people lean on when trying to argue that f2p is the future, and yet no amount of effort to capitalize on this market by any other developer seems to be paying the same dividends. instead f2p has largely become a hallmark of failing, dying games.

in the end comparing the two on any level is fairly ridiculous, as is comparing maplestory to any f2p games like gw2. you can play maplestory from your browser and phone. that's an entirely different different kind of game for an entirely different market.

Never stopped playing FFXI.

But I may start up my Wow account again. Can't only play one MMO.

I've been jumping around games like mad. I want to play FFXIV so bad that games like RIFT and WoW don't seem fun at all. I wish I could go back to FFXI but my account was hacked (Got a lovely piece of mail from Square-Enix about their server breech) years ago. I never logged on since and the server Ramuh merged with some other server anyway... So i highly doubt i could get my character back. Zalim will live in my memories. :(

Yeah playing Guild Wars 2....but i'm already way board with it. There is a ton you can do in that game but i cant stand looking at the annoying cartoony animations and graphics....FFXIV ARR can not come any faster!

To those that are in the PSO beta.... how is it? does it still have that special something the 1st one had?
