with so many users having to use utorrent or a 3rd party site to update, I'm surprised I was the only one who asked about the client updater/launcher.
Pretty sure it's because they touched on that in a previous live letter =P
I at least remember something involving the updater but it's been a while. The updater will definitely be an entirely new thing presumably without the crappy coding of the current one.
Definitely a neat idea for a thread! One thing I would recommend you all do is to read over the current questions in the thread and hit the "Like!" on ones you agree with. We're doing our best to compile them and get them translated, but we definitely want to see the number of likes that each question gets (of course that doesn't instantly guarantee it will be answered :P).
Head over to the thread and start likin'!
While i appreciate the idea of the thread af was only one component of my question and in the last dev post regarding gear dying i read there wasn't much information other than a wider variety of color options being available. but still offers no answer on whether my sentinals or other greens/yellows will be dyeable (explorer's tunic's / tabards / militia robes for example)
I was skimming through the questions thread and saw this one.
Just in case you didn't know, what city each class starts in will be locked to that class, since you won't be able to change classes until level 10 and will need to have access to its guild (so for example, all conjurers will start in Gridania). Yoshi has stated already that your company allegiance will pretty much be your national allegiance, and it's been confirmed that we'll be able to change companies in 2.0. So you just have to change companies if you want to be part of a different nation and their storyline.
^^^ This isn't the thread for questions Ingolf :p
This was actually answered in the localization forum, I believe. Currently the way the game is set up is that each language has to use the same number of dialog boxes/times you have to confirm to advance the dialog. So for example, if the Japanese dialog takes up 4 dialog boxes, the English one needs to use the same amount of dialog boxes as well even if it would take up more or less text to get the message across. This is why some npcs end up talking foreeever and you have to confirm a million times to get through their dialog.
Yes it is dumb and will be gotten rid of in 2.0 so characters can sound more natural.
Doh, my bad. Excuse my derp
I knew someone would pick my question for here and not understand. Yoshi-p said you can't change your starting city in 2.0 when we can remake our char. I was asking him can he please reconsider that becuase i myself would like my start city to be Gridania. I always like that storyline and how npcs are but pick diff because the area sucked.
All i want is to switch my starting city over to gridania and he said we wont be allow too so i asking for him to consider changing his mind.
You do understand that class you pick does not lock you to a city right? you can pick any starting city with any class you like. I was asking him to reconsider allowing us to change starting city i pick a diff one from gridania becuase the area was just dumb and painful to get around but i enjoy everything about that city.
The only thing i'm asking is for us current players to allow us to change our starting city when we make our chars. Yoshi-p said seeing how the storyline is lock to our start city you wont be allow to switch when we enter 2.0 and i'm asking him to please reconsider that.
So ya class have noting to do with your starting city lol
^^^
What Shougun said, and it WAS confirmed that each class can ONLY start in a specific city.
Adventurers aren't native to any of the cities in the first place. If you want to take part in Gridania's storyline then join the Twin Adders.
Hmm. please link me where you got that information because starting city = storyline of the game free company is something else. Yoshi-p said that us current players wont be allow to change starting city when we remake our chars due to the fact that the story is base on starting city. So by reading that that mean we can pick start city of the game if that true that storyline of the game would be base around grand companies and not starting city then i'm fine if not then i would like him to allow us to switch.
Hmm i remember reading he wont allow us to change our starting city due to that being where the main story is about. Maybe it was put wrong and it really meant Grand Companies that you can't switch at the start,.
Lol now i'm very lost :( i did not read anywhere that it said your class=starting city if i knew that i would not even have ask that question lol i was thinking starting city = storyline becuase that what i read maybe it was grand companies and it was just put in wrong.
My question was asked due to the fact I'd not seen it verified directly by community reps or stated by dev directly. Information I did find linked to game descriptions of a product not yet released and in development, or from countless user statements, thus subject to change up until official release statement.
Additionally it was mainly to clarify and lead into second question of if the impact site would be visitable, thus first could be omitted had it been answered and I had just missed it, or it was not pertinent if transported to past since it simply wouldn't exist.
Lastly, as stated directly in the first post I could not add any commentary beyond the questions I wanted to ask in order to clarify my reason for asking the question. Interpretation of the question based on this fact makes it rather asinine in a sense to criticize when the person asking can not clearly detail the reason they are asking the presumably known answer to. An example of when "keep it simple" is counter productive, but still done for the ease of compilation reasons.
I'm already going back to remove the post and resubmit the two primary questions as I missed the final stipulation of posting multiple questions in one post due to posting it before leaving to work.
Too sleepy to look for the quote itself, but I can also say that they confirmed that the class you choose will lock you in a city with its guild. For already existing players they only said that "we will be transported somewhere" when ARR starts, w/o directly confirming if our city changes or we will stay where we were.
Yes, the armoury system won't even be unlocked to new characters until level 10, they have to go through some tutorial quests in the home city of their chosen class before they can experience other content.
It has not yet been clarified (to my knowledge) as to whether or not we'll have to go through said tutorials before we'll be able to access the armoury system again. I hope not >_< I'd prefer to do some crafting or gathering again first, get right into the meat of housing/furniture/etc if that system is released at (or soon after) launch.
Answer from the 3rd Live letter
The Animation lock that exists in the current game is the result of the faulty game engine, something they are unable to fix it seems. In ARR this issue does not exist, you can watch ARR gameplat videos from Gamescon, Special Talk Session or the 3rd Live Letter to get an idea on how the animation lock has changed. In some of these videos you can see the character move while using skills without being locked.Quote:
You should be able to ride it right away[Referring to Ahriman], but we’re testing and looking into how to introduce it along with other mounts as well. Mounts are really fun and many players like them, so we'd like to keep implementing a variety of them in A Realm Reborn.
Answer taken from the 3rd Live Letter.
Answer taken from the Game Watch Interview, translated by Reinheart. While no info about rewards, it does give us an idea about goals and advancement.Quote:
There will be tutorials on character and camera controls, buying and selling items, the workings of aetheryte crystals, etc. By the end of these tutorials, players will reach level 10, at which point the Armoury System will be unlocked.
From there, you’ll be able to try out different classes such as Disciples of the Land and Hand. Some players may not be happy, thinking that we're turning crafters and gatherers into sub-classes, but this is definitely not the case.
We just want to make sure that players learn the basics first, after which players will have the freedom to do what they want. Also, as I stated before, I would like everyone to have at least one battle class leveled up. As you can see from what we just demonstrated, we definitely didn’t do a half-hearted job on the crafting and gathering systems.
Based on the 3rd Live Letter and some of the Gamescon Interviews, we know that ARR will have a lot of low level dungeons. For 50s, confirmed content are, Titan, Ramuh, Crystal Tower, Great Labyrinth of (something), an Untitled content(mentioned in game watch interview).Quote:
I can’t talk about the details but there are phases and when looking at it entirely it will take a long time. It won’t be the end with just one and will be a content that will be updated to go higher and higher.
I did just this yesterday. I read through every question and liked those which I thought to be most important. I also noticed they tend to have the most likes which should in theory make your job of sorting the questions out a tad easier.
On the other hand, the first question asked about name changes, had an obscene amount of likes for a question that has already been answered over and over again...
Once again, out-dated information that is subject to further clarification as the request is for more detailed information that they possibly could not talk of at the time of the interview. If you are going to nitpick a question at least understand the context of it in relation to released information. Also understand that the person, per the request of the community reps, is not allowed to elaborate as to why they are asking the question.
Initially they could not go into detail, the request is see if after 1.0 is down, and during alpha/beta phases, if additional information can be found out to how the progression, layout, and surrounding mystery of the crystal tower can be explained more in detail. With this in reference to the question you state as being "answered" it is clearly not answered since they could not go into detail about it at the time.
I apologize if you felt i was nitpicking at your question, as this was certainly not my intention. The purpose of the reply was to inform anyone who does not know about the little information that was released. As i mentioned in my original post, parts of the details you inquired about has yet to be revealed, such as rewards and what little we do know only "gives us an idea" about advancement and goals.
It is more of a clarification issue than anything else. While I see why people have made this topic, at the same time I am starting to see it as a topic where someone will jump on a question without understanding context surrounding it also. To that effect the statement was also generalized and directed to anyone, not just you, to keep in mind they should make sure that they understand the context of the question before stating it has already been answered. In the case of your pointing out of my question it was rather clear what I was asking had not been answered yet since they couldn't go into further detail. All that was mentioned is that it will be long lasting content that has progression, but not what that progression is, no details of rewards, possible random generated floor/area while progressing, possible puzzles that need be solved during progression, or if there might be locked out abilities/magic/etc similar to XI's Nyzul/Uncharted Nyzul content.
I would most certainly like to know if the content will be "Speed run" or if you can simply get to the same boss/nm in the content at any pace and still get the same reward(s).
I'm sorry, im confused, which part of my original post led you to believe i was stating your question had been answered? To me the context of your post seemed clear, that's why I specifically pointed out in my original post that the answer available did not cover your question in its entirety and even pointed out that the parts of your question that the answer did touch upon only gives us an idea.
To me, it seems like your assuming my post was stating that your question had been answered, which is not the case since i made sure to point out that the answer i was quoting did not answer your entire question. I'm not sure which part of my post led you to assume i was stating your entire question had been answered, but if you can point it out, I'll go ahead and remove it.
