It is indeed true, I believe you get a tick of rested exp every 30 minutes, whether or not it is retroactive from going in and out of your inn I'm unaware of currently.

I believe you enter rested once you enter your inn room. I thought the little bed icon ment rested and that was why you couldn't craft in your inn room. They didn't want you gaining rested bonus while not actually resting.
I'm betting it's more limitations, since you weren't able to craft in mog house either. If that's the case they most likely are changing local leves extensively since most people craft at camps (for those) so yeah.
I like the thought of there being Inns in other towns, and even being able to buy tents.
Not that it really matter's but i'm sure it caps maybe nearer 100k. had enough rested to take carpenter from 46-50 after a holiday earlier this year. which isn't far off 400k exp. which with a few manuals and rested seems about right.
In XI you could craft in mog house. I did alot of my crafting in there either for simple peace and quiet or in my more newb days I had believed that crafting in the mog house was the only way to get moghancemnets to work.
To be honest the only way it would be convenient is if getting back to your inn room (And then back to wherever you want to be) was more than a few clicks of a button.
Hopefully this may equate to more meaningfull travel? Making being able to rest at the nearest Aetherite actually reasonable...then again I might be expecting too much on that.
It is right now. But there will be no Atomos in ARR, and we don't know much of it will be regained from Hamlet when it changes. They might have made it near unlimited for our convenience right now, doesn't mean it will stay that way.
Darn, looks like they are scrapping the built up rested bonus of everyone who's got a LV 900 character :(
EDIT: Obviously everyone else too >_>" but just saying we can't use ours lol~
Will we be able to craft there? I was under the impression that crafting in inns was restricted to keep people from consuming rested EXP as it generated, thereby exploiting a loophole. If that's the case, we can expect these rested areas to be packed with crafters. Even well-built servers have their limits.
It generates painfully slow, hardly possible to 'exploit' it.
It's not hard to apply a 10 minutes cooldown before any rested EXP starts to be earned... Actually that's how it works on XIV. You only start accumulating rested EXP after staying for a little while in your room, it doesn't come straight away.
So if someone would be crafting in his room, he would have to wait ~10min+ between each attempt in order to receive rested EXP. Which makes it impossible to really exploit.
What is going to be sad is if they don't fix the power leveling exploit. I actually want to grind out Arcanist (right?) and summoner. To have a class grinding to level cap will be nostalgic. I haven't had to actually level any battle or magic classes in a very long time. Miss the tiring frustration and overall accomplishment.
