Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.
Fool me 682 times, shame on the entire human race. I'm not even sure who I should blame it on, but I know we should all feel ashamed.
(Oh right, supposed to stay on topic. I predict um...August 23, I don't know.)
March 29th 2013
March 2013
I say March for Release of the game. I see beta testing starting in December.
If the game is, in fact, down for 4 months, you could try playing another game. The final save for the current version is November 1 anyway...so even if we got to play the entire time, I'd be even more upset that none of that stuff is saved.
hmm...
Quote:
Yoshida: What’s going to happen is that after the current version is finished and storyline over, the servers will go down and the 2.0 beta will start up. We want to make sure we don’t make the same mistake as before, and want to be sure we have enough time not only for the beta test but also to get feedback from the players and leave enough time to implement that feedback. Also, keep in mind that transferring the characters to the new servers and systems could take up to a month. So that process will be running while the beta test is in place. There can’t be a launch immediately after the current servers are shut down.
GE: How much downtime do you expect between the end of the beta test and the launch 2.0?
Yoshida: It won’t be anything like the next day, but we hope to have it be as short as possible. We need enough time to make sure everything is right and start it smoothly.
in december or jan? :o
late december or early january, anything more and it would be very dangerous, as they would start to lose MANY subscribers that loses trust in them ... again.
Going by the road map, if everything goes as plan. The beta starts in November 2012, roughly around the beginning to middle. The release should be no later than middle of January as the free trial is a month long and looks like that end in the middle of Feb. 2013. I personally think the game will be out by the end of the year.
Well they've already said open beta begins in Jan 2013 so any date before then is just wishful thinking.
Yoshida also mentioned that the first closed beta for the Japan and International servers is scheduled fo go live at the close of September or early October, with closed beta 2 pinned for the Winter followed by an open beta in January 2013.
I'm going to say end of open beta in Feb. Release probably end of March. March 31st.
but it would almost fit to their existing roadmap of 2011:

so its clear, that the release ist post-january (january or after)
i say feb/march ;) ... march ^
This has been documented all over the place just google it
"I expect" does not "Confirm" anything. Things are likely fall under: "May be subject to change"Quote:
I expect the first Closed Beta for the Japan and International servers to be held end September or early October, entering Closed Beta 2 this winter and Open Beta in January next year. We will be talking to Shanda Games about the China server, with features such as PvP, blocking 3rd party programs and localization, hence the China server will launch later.
If the beta is short, I expect a March 2013 release date. If the alpha & beta are long, then a June release date.
My guesses!
April 19th for general release so that PC/PS3 is simultaneous, with no early access period for CE(2) holders.
Closed beta (PC only) to start on 1st December for PC and open (for both) on 5th January and run to start of April.
Its the first link. Since clicking the first link must be difficult I will save you the trouble and paste the exact quote from Yoshida.
Q: When will Final Fantasy XIV 2.0 launch?
A: I expect the first Closed Beta for the Japan and International servers to be held end September or early October, entering Closed Beta 2 this winter and Open Beta in January next year. We will be talking to Shanda Games about the China server, with features such as PvP, blocking 3rd party programs and localization, hence the China server will launch later.
I'm going with december 23rd 2012. merry xmas to me.
I agree with this. I think sometime between March and June of 2013 (for the official release) is a pretty reasonable time frame. I could see it going even later if there are a lot of problems/setbacks in development, but I wouldn't expect it to happen much earlier.
End of January 2013.
Late March 2013.
Alpha doesn't start till November.
CB will start in Jan.
OB will start in Feb
Launch in March.
If you think any sooner you will be sorely disappointed.
If it's going to be so late, then why is the savepoint November? The least they could do is postpone the save point.
Should make a community contest like the "How long to kill Garuda" one. <_<
April 28!
Well you do have to take into consideration that was stated before we learned Alpha Phase: Japanese starts in November sometime rather than End of Sept - Early Oct, so good chance everything else was pushed back too. If it takes a month to transfer, likely that month will be sometime next year as the only things possible for nov/dec/jan is Alpha and Beta.
You also take into account many factors.
1. Cost tons of money to run 2 data centers running to 2 games (FFXIV and ARR). Ending in November would be the smart choice so they don't have to keep 2 data centers up the whole time and saving game data.
2. There are 4 phases to Alpha. If it starts in November and each phase lasts ONLY 2 weeks Alpha ends at the end of December. Anybody that has been apart of an Alpha 2 months is normal if NO problems come up and short if there are any issues. And thats just the Alpha.
3. A few weeks in Jan to fix any issues and invites for CB. Now your in the second week of Jan. You start a Close Beta. You have Close Beta for ONLY 2 weeks, now your in in Feb. Then everything is looking good you start focusing on your Marketing plan (which they have already started but this is where you push heavily before the launch). To get some good words out, (game reviews, press kits, ect..) and to have Open Beta at the same time takes at least a month now your in March.
4. Release Game in March
5. ???
6. Profit!
Logic wins again! Now just to point out, I'd be more than happy if it's sooner. But I will not be happy if it's rushed. I've waited this long for the right product, I can wait 3 months for it to be done right.
If theyre going to push back save point, then they should tell us, because people are still organising their final moments in game, and if they have more time than they think they do, it's polite to let players know this rather than getting them anxious about such limited time frames to get everything done by.
I doubt we're going to see it before March.
lol i just got a SE newsletter in my email talking about this topic well what do you know... luls
not happy about 2013 ; ; i want it in december come on!!! D:Quote:
More news and info is coming for FINAL FANTASY® XIV, and recently we released a new application page to join the Alpha test of the game! If you're an active player, apply today and help us test the upcoming release on PC and PS3 coming 2013.
Yep, "Coming 2013" so we have between January 1st 2013 and December 31st 2013 for the release date.
