Clicking 11 times is not "fun" at all.

There has to be stuff in games that are "not fun". Dumbing things down so it's convenient for people, "easier" is super not fun, just makes the game dull if there is no depth in it. The crafting system was pointlessly complicated before, but that's what made it cool, because it had depth, now they are making it simpler and simpler, with less depth. I'm sorry I like depth in my games, I'm a sophisticated person that like a challenge even if that means clicking a button one extra time("but that's not hard, just tedious").
Makes no sense :/Quote:

The truth is its the UI that makes repairing so awful, you have to go to equip menu, click the slot, click the tool, exit the menu, click inventory, find the item, repair it, and repeat the whole process for the next item
If you could use macros in the menu it would be ok, but nooo, you have to exit the menus and go all the way back to your equipment screen to put the tool on, or exit completely and use a macro
Really glad they are changing this, its a hassle to repair a full gear set or multiple gear sets
Still not quite clear on this... do I still need to change to my crafting class to make repairs, or does it just do the level check of my crafting class and allow me to do repairs on say my Paladin job?
How long have you been gaming? Serious question. There's always a game you play that may be fun as hell but there will be that:
"Ugh not this shit"
Moment in a game, remember Mario 64 for example? It was fun but there was always 1 or two worlds that just irked you to the core, let alone the red coins in some of them, that's what he means by not everything will be sunshines and lolipops and unicorns won't always shit out rainbows, there's going to be some things that won't be fun to deal with.
As Ricky said the main problem is the UI setup and design, not so much the system.
Just a simple follow up question to that! Does that mean we can "repair all" to all our gear at once if we're on that crafting class currently? A lot of my friends, including myself, have been hoping for that one rather than doing each item individually.
Thank Camate for the info! :D
How long have you been trying to be always right? No Serious question? How about you stop with the insults? "Plugging your ears won't change the truth"
Content itself yes there will be stuff that people will hate and will love. However when it comes to clicking "commands" or the "UI" technical stuff, you don't wanna be waiting forever or clicking out of 15 boxes for one thing is not fun, its very tedious, and it's very annoyinig.
I wonder how long you played gaming? I don't go to that question now do I? because I'm not as rude as you. Jerk.
You said it made no sense, so I asked a serious question because it seems you didn't understand what he was saying. Also it's not rude or an insult, it' a question.
I've been gaming since the early 80s. If you've been gaming for awhile you'll understand he's basically stating not every second of a game you play will be 100% fun lol, it just doesn't work that way, there's always going to be something that isn't fun to do but something we'll have to do.
They even tried to change the standard synthesis grind by throwing in a mini-game of sorts to make it "fun" than just go to inferace, click synthesis, watch progress bar with no type of interactivity (most games) and hope for the best, some liked it some hated it, some find it fun some find it monotonous.
You realistically can't make every part of a game fun, this is what he's basically stating.
If one to two seconds clicking a few bottons makes peeps go DL:SKF:LSDHF:LKSJDKLJ:DLGHLSK:DFLKJ!!!!! FACEROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!'lL:JDA:FLJKDFSJLK::FLSDJK OMGS, you probably should take some counseling. because really, it shouldn't be something you think about and just do, it shouldn't be like. OMG I HAVE TO PUSH ANOTHER BUTTON OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG! That's how I'm taking it right now with this.
The problem isn't the button pushing, it's the lag and function of the system that is in now, just as others have said. Because really, you wouldn't be complaining about it if it was instant, the response to the button being pressed. In fact, if they did the programing better in 1.0 we probably wouldn't have even seen 2.0. What a shame.
Yes I understand that, however The way he says it.. he actually "wants" non-fun content in this game.
In other words he wants things super hard that most people won't understand but a genius. You won't get a decent population by over-complicating things, I tell you that right now.Quote:

I am 24 years old I been gaming since I was about 8 years old, so about 16 years I been gaming in general. In the MMO world it honestly started with FFXI for 7-8 years, in between I played other games, I tried WoW for about 3-5 months, Hated the game but I love how fast the UI is.
That's enough autobiography for one day :P.
I never even thought that. I just don't want something that mind-numbing easy where I can do it with my eyes closed. Dark souls, demon souls, pretty much all old school games. They were challenging, now every game is like HURP DURP HAND HOLD LETS MAKE THINGS EASY FOR EVERYONE SO EVERYONE WILL GIVE US MONEY! NOT JUST A FEW~ Oh wait, didn't demon souls get game of the year?
Challange can come from any aspect of the game, complicated crafting, clicking that one more button, walking to a place. They can put challenge anywhere they want, but they don't want to. They want to make everything just "Ok folks, look both ways befor crossing the road~ Make sure you are holding hands now! BUDDY SYSTEM!"
Commands/UI= Make it easy to navagate ( it's not handholding at all going through 15 different menus for one thing is not a hard but it is annoying as hell. If you annoy people.. they will leave tell you that much. )
Content= I don't want that to be hand holding, I will agree with you on content wise, I do want a challenge and I hate those pay to win MMOs. I don't want a scenario like that coming to ARR. However there should be a balance between hard and easy, if you make everything hard as nails (except for the hardcore players) the casuals will be chased away, and there are more Casuals as there are hardcores now in days.
I don't really care about how many buttons you press to repair something, it's my consern that they are easy to make things simpler for people that want simple yet, people who want complicated they don't do anything for them
/shrug I don't know what to tell you, you can say that to them on the Alpha/Beta, not sure how many people will be with you on making UI/Commands harder to navigate. I wish you the best of luck on that.
I can't believe some people are against a fix all feature that will actually fix all in fewer clicks. There is a difference between difficulty, and tedious unnecessity.
This debate is dumb.
Being bogged down in clunky UI features isn't the kind of masochism that makes for a miserably wonderful experience... it's just miserable.
Rokien's argument fits better for a long climb to the higher levels or an arduous learning curve in end game content. Something that you overcome and feel accomplishment for doing it.
It's not a valid argument for something you need to do every day in order to just play the game at all.
The repair system in the game right now is a huge mess. Mainly because it doesn't really accomplish anything from a gameplay standpoint beyond giving credence to the death penalty. "Don't die because repairing stuff is a needless hassle!"
Arguing against streamlining this horribly clunky system is like arguing against electricity. "Seriously guys, night time's for sleeping."
Is it too much to ask that we get some kind of repair button for a mass-repair of items?
And while they're equipped too - I know it's not the biggest issue out there, but it is still incredibly annoying having to manually remove an item, then switch to the class that can repair it, fix it, and then but it back on.
hey NOOB try some other games once in a while see how things can be done properly and efficiently
this aint real life where you go to the dry cleaners and say
i want these blue pants cleaned and pressed
i want this blue shirt washed ironed and no fckn starch
this sock has a hole in it fix it and don't lose the other one
its a game walk up to the repair npc open a dialog click on the repair all gear icon and BOOM all your equiped gear is like new again
hey NOOBS who expect me to stand around waiting for a carpenter and a weaver and a goldsmith AND A LEATHERWORKER to walk by see what i need repaired and actually repair it STFU i dont even wanna think about how many clicks it is to mark my damaged gear for repair someone else do it
totally legit. Enjoy your report
Tweaking the repair system will make it more efficient and accessible.
Streamlining or simplifying the repair system procedure is not "dumbed it down". However getting rid of it, and putting something like exp loss instead is. That brings less difficulty, and I would hardly call getting exp a challenge.
