What about the legacy reduced subscription price?

At this point I hope they make them rank 10 or something really easy just to spite the people so pent up on gate keeping content riddled with win trading and toxic habits from a decade ago.
I was about to say similar, lot of the integrity is gone to begin with.
Another thing these unique rewards lose their luster over time.
if anything I would want the top 100 players get a permanent statue somewhere in the Wolve's Den of days gone by, and assuming they got there legitimately.
I like to think of ocean fishing as a sort of spiritual callback, except you can't go inside the boat :v
Try reading my post again, I answered your question. If you need me to answer your question more clearly for you: Would I be ok with everyone else getting the legacy discount that I also have? Yea, let everyone have a discount.
Now, if you're instead trying to ask how I'd feel if they took the legacy discount away as a sort of "gotcha", I'm sorry to have to be the one to tell you, that doesn't work as a comparison to the topic being discussed. People with these rewards aren't having the items taken from them, the items are being offered to everyone else (with a little asterisk, cause you know, "replica"), so my answer to your hypothetical is irrelevant because it's not a valid comparison. That comparison would only work if SE was like "nobody can have these items anymore," and then deleted the items from the game and out of people's inventories completely, but that's very clearly not what's happening here.
I don't agree with them rereleasing rewards promised to be "exclusive". But that doesn't mean I agree that they should have existed in the first place. FOMO for a ranking reward shouldn't exist when there's literally millions of players. I hope they at least make the grind to purchase it to be difficult.
They do tho they have the original armor and mounts for the top 100.
Everyone else is getting Replica gear sets because this is an MMO and these are digital items meant for glamours, not real life like take a look deep within yourself if this is hurting your feelings for a game that the OP admitted he doesn't play often in the first place.
As an owner of one of these sets myself (Season 19, Shadowcleaver set, Rank 85 Light), I understand the value veterans subscribe to their Top 100 rewards, I truly do - but I sadly cannot side with the opinion of the "it should've stayed completely and utterly exclusive" crowd, for a couple of reasons.
Disclaimer: The basis of one or more of my reasons is based on the assumption that reintroduction of those rewards will contain "Replica" as a distinct name or item property.
1.) Distinction between the original & replica set through the Replica tag will highlight who is just "cosplaying" and who is actually a veteran of their respective era. The gear name for glamour can be inspected by hovering over glamoured equipment, so your visual display of your deeds and achievements is not lost. (mounts might be a tad more difficult)
2.) With the advent of 6.1's Crystalline Conflict, we utterly and completely lost unique Top X rewards while also gaining fairly sizeable updates to casual reward systems. On one end welcome for casual players, but also terrible for promotion of Ranked in general. If Ranked Top X sets return eventually like they do with Feast Top X rewards, then this could offer a potential for NEW Top X rewards to be introduced with temporary exclusivity (visually) as more Replica sets can be made for those that weren't successful in initially earning them. This is a net gain for all participants and offers more options.
3.) There is potential for Replica sets to be introduced via a new reward system for Ranked that can be obtained on any skill tier, at different speeds (think Wolfmarks but for Ranked-only). Whether or not you agree with how it is distributed, I believe every opportunity of making Ranked be rewarding at a much lower barrier of entry is a good way to promote the mode and solve a lot of issues regarding player onboarding & churning over the course of a season.
Overall, it is not going to be the end of the world and instead it actually just opens more possibilities while also giving the option of keeping original trophies distinct to their owners. It's worth it.
This is, without a doubt, a 'boo-womp' moment.
I really don't get why people get this attached to pixels. The game has barely half a decade left before it burns out, does it really matter?
Waah.. nothing should become unavailable it should remain always obtainable even the Legacy items it was a 3 months of sub campaign to obtain so just chuck them on mog story for like $20 since wont include a discounted sub. No In-game items should be permanently unobtainable even the trophies/titles should get re-used.
You got your exclusive time with the toy now it's time let others play with it.
I don't really like the argument of, "I worked hard unlike these next people getting it". Plenty of people would have been willing to work just as hard for it too. As it turns out, not everyone started the game from it's first day of launch. A lot of us come by waves of expansions. I was a sprout when that all happened, so I missed it. Doesnt mean I wasnt willing to work hard, nor anyone else. Some of us just werent playing XIV yet or at that point of pvping. There should always be an opportunity for currently paying customers to eventually be able to obtain or work towards something that they want later down the line. I think re-releasing as pvp rewards again would have been good. Either way though, a few years is a good amount of time to have something to yourself. And really, I'll take anything that isnt just "lets throw it into mog station and make people pay real life cash for it". Can you imagine if they did it like THAT? So.
Lol nah. If you want 1.x achievements, titles, and the goober, get a time machine. The only reason you can spread your little opinion here is because we supported the game all those years ago when it was arguable to do so. You kids already got the earring and a few other things. You are undeserving of anything else.
Lucky, Square seems to respect that now. Womp womp.
I knew about everything you mentioned except this one. That's WILD.
So what, you guys would "strategically" send your characters on a boat trip before bedtime/work or something, and watch them arrive next time you log in? Or were you forced to sit through that time fully online?
I would really like to see a way to re-earn these unobtainable rewards. I don't want them gifted to me.
If the tattoo ever makes a comeback, I want a challenge appropriate for it. I think a duty related to the Calamity and the fight at Carteneau, ending with the character getting sent to the future (more like back to the present) would be pretty epic. Perhaps it'd be a fitting reward for an ultimate based on the moments before the Calamity, rather than how UCOB is about the aftermath of it.
I really would love to be able to earn the Eversharp title too. It's not even an exclusive title or anything, it's basically just tons of participation. I think it'd be nice to bring these "not quite exclusive, just time-sensitive" achievements back. I understand people being upset over winners' rewards potentially being thrown into the wolves' den like they're any other piece of gear, though.
Someone who had a legacy account told me they stopped giving the discount recently, though I assume he might have been mistaken since he doesn't use that account anymore? Either way, jealous of you guys. I love a good deal.

We losing mind over weird things today, huh
You need to understand, Yoshi P is breaking the emergency glass to draw people back after much failures. Unfortunately he’s been lying forever.
I hope they keep the original armors some unique traits to differentiate from the new reward ones.
I’m more concerned that some people that come to pvp just for the glams may not know how to play and may not contribute in the match much.
It only took a couple minutes, it wasn't like, an actual voyage. If you've ever played Maplestory back in the day, it was similar to taking the airship to Orbis, about a ~5-10 minute wait.
This is the only image I have of waiting in the ship, and it's not much. I do remember the reason I took it wasn't because I was like "wow a ship" it was because it was the first time in game I was able to actually sit down on furniture, which wasn't very common, lol

Part of the reason I grinded S20 is so I can brag about the Dreadnaught. I enjoyed people asking me where it's from. Actually happened quite a few times. Two even said I was a beast for getting it. Was a good ego boost.
Then all things come to an end, and this is no different. Was good while it lasted and honestly - treasure that instead.
I'm the exact opposite. I liked that feeling. I liked people feeling jealous over what I had. Ha!
It's a deep, primal, human desire. I don't think there's a problem with that. When I'm on the other end it motivates me. Sure I couldn't obtain rewards that were already gone, but I could start getting my own bragging rights.
I feel like the game has none of that these days. Limsa is filled with paypal ultimates since like 5.x. Lone Hero used to be a badass title; now it's everywhere.
I moved onto other ventures long ago to chase that high, so I don't really care that it's gone from FF14. But it was good while it lasted.
Honestly this.
I used to care about Feast exclusivity. Now I'm like - I didn't even log on my main for DT. So why do I care anymore. My first reaction to this thread wasn't even about the exclusivity, but just how bored I am seeing the same debates again and again on these forums. I barely even check here anymore. Oh well.
We don't need FOMO anymore
FFXIV has been pretty good about most things being achievable at any point, and I'm glad that there will be less limited items in the game
I see you are still going on about this, but my friend, everything in this game is a mode of something. EX, savage, dungeons, maps. As long as you have to interact with the piece of content, this qualifies. PvP in this game is laughable at best, and it's just for fun.
Forced scarcity is just a dumb concept. Look at how the housing system works, and you know what I mean.
Sure, then why exactly should you own a mount, because I invested time and energy to learn and clear the EX fight when it was current? Why should you be afforded now to skip mechanics and farm mounts?Quote:
on the other hand people's time and investment should be respected.
I missed the cut-off to get into 1.x by three days because my PC upgrade was delayed in the mail after months of saving for it. Three days! I never got a character with the Legacy tattoo or the chocobo as a result, despite being extremely hooked into FFXIV's status when the production change up occurred. I was very not happy about this.
I actually forgot it was even a thing until a few months ago when I saw a character in a swimsuit that actually still had it. It had been so many years since I had seen one in the wild and he was still trying to get through that Sylph leap of faith nightmare just the same.
It's so silly in hindsight that I was so salty.
Your answer wasn't clear and extremely defensive. Thanks for clarifying. The question wasn't a gotcha but genuine curiosity. You announced you were ready to share on some of the legacy advantages like the tattoo, I just asked if you'd also be ready to see the subscription benefit extended to more players.
If this can assuage the hostile tone, I have stated myself multiple times that I wouldn't care at all if my exclusive feast rewards were accessible for more people to enjoy them. I'd rather have the devs spend resources on things that can be obtained in the game.
They'll learn, you'll get over it.
And if they don't, they won't get the rewards easily anyway.
I've said it once and I'll say it again.
It’s giving:
"I quit the gym but no one else is allowed to use my treadmill.”
You cannot earn something if you weren't playing back then. That's why the current system that works for everything else in the game is vastly superior.
I don't think they should give it out for free, but let people earn them if they put in the time and energy. Nobody cares that you got it 14 years ago.
I get it, on one hand its a series of trophies that people fought and more importantly competed for, but I think re-release as named "Replica" is a good way to keep the original items distinct while giving other players access to the glamour design. To me, this is a win-win and opens a lot of doors and while I understand some people's pride may be hurt, our successes are still not wiped out so this is genuinely for the better.
(unsure how they might handle mounts though)
I didn't earn it back then. Nobody cares that you can't get the rewards for a limited-timed exclusive reward for a time you weren't playing. The blade cuts both ways.
They should be adding new rewards, not going back on their word and reintroducing previous limited-time only stuff that people put in effort to get at the time.
Clearly people do care that you can't get rewards for a limited-time exclusive thing from times they weren't playing or else it wouldn't be getting addressed and added by the devs after player requests.
I have been playing for longer than the OP and vehemently disagree with this "they are throwing out the veterans" garbage. Permanent limited time rewards are dumb in EVERY game. You shouldn't be given special treatment THAT extreme just because you were here first. Limited time stuff is fine, but only if they plan to make it accessible for others at a later period. This is a gross overreaction. Besides, nobody liked the Feast anyway.
Well one side of the blade is way longer than the other (if that makes sense). The amount of people that want feast rewards to stay exclusive are a fraction of a percent compared to the rest of the player base that wants to earn those rewards. That's why yoshi p himself stated how they got a lot of requests to bring them back. There's no way the same amount of people want to keep them exclusive especially with how many new people joined the game late that couldn't get them. It's a simple business move of listening to the majority of your sub payers instead a very small subset of people that can't move on from their virtual achievements. If the game was always heavily influenced by the opinions of a small group of people then we would have never gotten unrestricted glam since there are people that (incorrectly) think it destroys job identity so it should remain restricted.
itt: OP is mad they can't gatekeep rewards behind account age in a video game that people physically pay for
