Indirectly, yes.

Main person that advertised it has 14k followers on twitter, but theyr'e friends with a lot of other people that are also 5-10k, 20k+ that retweeted the hang out event and attended. So imagine it being the same as if Xenosys, Arthars, Zepla, MrHappy, Sly, Mizzteq, etc. all posted on their twitter that they're hanging out on a given world for a social event. It's like that but for the gpose community, and noone left after. It's a population of people that either don't run normal content or already completed it and have no current goals. They only sign in to socialize and or gpose so they don't have to go anywhere.
Maybe I'm just being a bit of cynic, but I do love that apology is gushing about the event and that, from this and other posts, they seem to be more sorry about the impact to the Mare server. Also, absolving themselves by saying that whatever people do after is up to them. Like, yes kinda, but YOU organized this and were the direct cause of this situation. Plus, they are still actively involved and seeing it out to the end of this week, according to that apology.
Still going on today, getting super annoying now :(
The fact they are still planning to do it again with more events, no words.
SE needs to sort something out its not fair to anyone who's home world is Bismarck, shouldn't have to server hop just to do things, should be able to enjoy our own home world.
There is also the fact there are still sprouts that might be trying to do MSQ and cant because of this.
For those who still don't believe what is occurring with respect to difficulty accessing zones, this is what we're up against. This was essentially 5 minutes of spamming teleport, trying to get to Western Thanalan.

its not just teleporting either also get same message for zone transition you can run into the portal for 5+mins and still not get onto any of the effected zones.
Anybody post this one yet?

Square Enix strictly prohibits the use of third-party programs or tools as these disrupt the balance of the game.

Accordingly, the following activities are prohibited:
- Modifying, analyzing, integrating, and/or reverse-engineering game software or data.
- Creating, distributing, using, or promoting utilities that interact with the game.
I have heard that people are openly discussing Mare, sharing codes, and partaking in sexual activities in public in violation of the Terms of Service. Twitter shows enough evidence of that. If you do not like the policies that Square Enix has established, then you need to play a different game.Quote:
In general, all expressions of an obscene/indecent nature are prohibited. If a report has been filed and the prohibited activity is confirmed, a penalty will be issued.
This applies to not only text-based expressions such as chat but also to expressions that use emotes and or character movements in ways that are sexually explicit.
In addition, being in a public space is not stalking. Idling in a space is not stalking. If so, then everyone who is attending this meetup is also stalking.
I've been playing this game for ten years and it's never been this bad. Square Enix has allowed this game's reputation to be irreversably ruined. Every community has been afflicted and most normal people are tired of it.
Ponto, if you're still reading this, why don't you check out what everyone else can see? https://x.com/search?q=ffxivsummerbash
Because disrupting some zones on Bismarck and bringing no actual benefit (i don't see PVP popping longer or DF popping off constantly with random duties) is the same. And even then, as others said, its been asked to hey, take it to Mist where it doesn't affect anyone. You can still have your fun. Yea, totally the same...
Any fault or inconvenience a player gathering lies wholly on SE themselves, and not on the players. They could lock Bismark as a travel destination, they could create additional instances. Instead SE has chosen the tried and true SE strategy of "doing nothing"
But don't worry, despite their inaction, SE has a recommended solution for you, as they detailed in Dawntrail's launch
https://i.imgur.com/fYEJiWd.png
Now granted, OC players can't hope entire data centers like the rest of us, but you can still visit your neighbors. As an Aether resident, I for one would like to congratulate Bismark natives for having their very first "first world problem"
People on twitter like photoshop ig ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Not really apples to apples when:

What you posted is regarding login queue times and people trying to world visit/dc travel to a congested world/data center that isn't their own. That wasn't a suggestion for when zones are unavailable inside of the game entirely AND ON YOUR HOME SERVER. Square Enix has historically always cared about people's home world experience and the new player experience that Yoshi P talked about on livestream several times which factored into why we don't have marketboards in various zones, why they don't incentivize running content on other data centers as a solution to not having cross-dc party finder, etc. That is also why they add new instances when they expect players will cause these zones to cap out.
Funny enough the main data centers never faced this problem before where a zone was locked off entirely day to day besides Balmung Ul'dah, which had a decade of roleplay history and lore for why it was congested specifically and ppl wouldn't just go somewhere else. In fact, Square Enix made the data center travel restrictions tighter just because NA chose to ignore them asking them to travel to lower population areas and tried to brute force their way onto a data center while using 3rd party software to do it. Recommending it for OCE people to do when your peers rejected it and caused problems until Square Enix forced their hand is hypocritical. Square Enix has also never dealt with a random player on twitter able to spontaneously spawn thousands of players wherever they ask to the level of Quicksands and keep it that way for weeks potentially months.
This is simply self justification. Whilst SE can and should implement measures which was the entire point of the posts based on Support Feedback, placing the blame wholly on SE when people involved in the event can also easily move and limit the disruption to Bismarck is just deflecting. The community should also step up and take ownership of their choices and decision to remain in place. With a bunch of social media personalities with large followings involved in the initial event as well as discord groups, I'm sure there could be simple methods for them to try encourage people to relocate elsewhere to spread the burden. Especially if this event was created with the FFXIV community in mind.
Actually it especially applies. Especially when the part I quoted comes later in the article than the part you quoted, as a solution to players who are still experiencing the inconvenience of congestion. So it's actually my post that invalidates yours, and not the other way around, so thank you for that!
Anyway you can find the world transfer option by right clicking your character name on the login menu. I recommend that until either SE addresses the issue or the activity dies down. Players might have priority login to their home server, but that's the only grace we're given. You don't actually own your home server, the server space is public property, open to the use for whatever fanciful purpose the playerbase decides. As players, we have no ability or authority to police people visiting our servers. I can't stop people from primal and crystal coming to aether to raid, nor can anyone stop people from going to Bismark to afk on their island or whatever it is they're doing over there
Regardless, I'm sure people will eventually tire themselves out and go home, and this will all become a non issue. Or maybe it won't, and Bismark will become the international Balmung, and the identity of the server will forever be warped. Who can say?
For context, this is in the same article. This first part is recommended for JP players, but I think the same solutions can be applied to Oceanic
And if they needed to spell it out for you any clearerQuote:

While there will be restrictions based on the World Visit System or Data Center Travel, you will still be able to progress in main scenario quests, as well as find parties and participate in duties through the Duty Finder, so we recommend considering this method depending on your situation.
This thread is a perfect example of why cross region travel was a mistake, entitled americans and eur*peans invading our server being as obnoxious as ever. First thing you people did was raid the market board and drive up prices, buying all rare items which we never had much of now you prevent sprouts from doing quests in ARR areas. Keep up the good work guys! at least you can have esex with 40 year old men on the beach from halfway across the world!
This is basically why SE will never kill mods, the sheer amount of players that would quit is just too large.
I heard that data transfer of mod information between players went from 42TB/day to 74-80TB/day because of this.
This doesn't give you the right to break the TOS. And you are not idling, you are sitting there, reading their every message, trying to find something to ban them for. This is stalking behaviour. And now you've also posted a link to nsfw content without even giving a warning. Wow... I wonder what do you mean by "what everyone else can see", because I haven't seen any of this until you linked it here...
Just tell us you're one of those people at the beach, it's okay really, the only people defending it are 100% people that are there, no way otherwise lmao
also lol @ "if i dont see it it doesnt exist", you can pretend it doesnt all you want, this is what FFXIV is now. Putting a blindfold on to not see it doesnt mean it doesnt exist.
How am I defending them? I haven't even said anything about them at all. I'm just calling out this person because they're clearly breaking the TOS. I think hateful behaviour like this is destroying our game and community. You can't act like this just because you're on a white horse. And yeah it doesn't exist. Congestion is a big problem I won't argue with that. But nsfw stuff doesn't exist if you don't have mods installed or search for it specifically. It's not ffxiv problem. Every single piece of media has nswf stuff. There are rules of the internet and one of them is number 34.
Frankly, SE doesnt care about their own terms on third party software and mods. It's there so that they can ban problematic behavior, not to actually police. SE would lose a TON of money if they actually policed this and they know it - it would nearly kill the housing community as well as a lot of people who use them for accessibility and even QoL. There are people complaining that VFX give them migraines and there is no in-game solution to resolve this, but plugin developer fixed this years ago and thousands of players use this and thats just one example. The gathering tracking plugin reportedly has over 2 million downloads, more downloads than currently active players.
In fact, SE would lose less money getting rid of mod narcs than modders.
This is promoting cheating behavior. On PS5, I do not have access to Gatherbuddy. There are many other plugins which also function as “accessibility tools”, like auto-rotation, auto-duty and auto-crafters. Gatherbuddy and other automators are explicitly called out because they are enhancing performance. A vanilla/console player could never compete against a botter when it comes to marketboard sales volume, for example. The “slippery slope” is a straight drop because FFXIV is the only MMO without any kind of enforcement for cheating.
But that’s easy to prove. What isn’t easy is telling people how much the community has changed in ten years. Materia is congested for the sole purpose of, as they say, “gooning”. There are more than enough pictures and stories, all enabled by the same cheat tools. This has been going on for a while. Most venues use them along with many communities and FCs. It has become a social expectation and is almost mandatory for roleplay. If you search for game screenshots anywhere, this is what you see:
https://x.com/search?q=ffxiv%20screenshots
This is a simple search for screenshots, nothing profane added. This is what FFXIV represents in 2025. Many communities, venues and FCs look like this. Are you ashamed? Would you tell someone in real life that you play this game?
Can you please stop posting links to nsfw stuff on the official forums? As if twitter is the only place to represent ffxiv. Here's yt search for ffxiv https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=ffxiv and there's nothing nsfw. It's not ffxiv problem, it's because twitter allows to post things like this. Do you think if you ban all mods, people will stop doing this? No! People have been making nsfw content for ages, long before ffxiv was even in the production. You don't need to weaponize this event to solve the botting problem.
Do you even play this game before you raise complaint about square enix bad instance design?
I know you are baiting, so i will say lets close OCE from travel and disable home world transfer for all players there, so region bleed out players for good and square pull plug on servers.
:)
The community hasn't changed in the way you are proposing. There were always these types of people playing the game. Even if there's punishments, people will still try to mod more "scandalous" things. (Look at any live service game like Marvel Rivals) And no, people aren't ashamed of it, because a lot of people do this to express themselves.
The community has changed in different ways, but not in this one.
I'm not saying it's right or wrong, I'm just saying this has always been here.
Also there are plenty of FCs and communities in XIV that are "vanilla".
Yikes, I don't think that makes the game look any better:
https://files.catbox.moe/n5qfhq.png
https://files.catbox.moe/169oh0.png
While yes this makes the game look like it's in a bad spot, it also doesn't match what you were trying to blame, which... None of these videos are about? That FC video looks like only different lighting was used, otherwise I've seen similar layouts done.
Unless I am misreading your last comment completely wrong.
I would because I'm not a gooner. It's unlikely that people outside of FFXIV circles see this stuff so I'm not sure the optics are as bad as you think. Really, I just let people play the way they want and I engage in the content I like which is achievement hunting.
You're all getting a bit off topic
Thread was about issues getting into these zones and everyone that was still clogging up Bismarck for like a ridiculous amount of time. If it was one day its whatever but when these people that aren't native to that server keep clogging up the zones for days on end so bad people native to that server cant get timed nodes, cant do msq etc it's really unfair, rude and uncaring.
Simple solution would be just saying sorry and giving it a break instead of attacking people or insulting them. Name calling isn't necessary, everyone wants to enjoy the game.
This game used to have a good community once upon a time people getting so toxic, lately there is a us vs them mentality with everything. Everyone enjoys different aspects of the game. You do you but try not to be an A-hole to everyone else. Pretty simple really. We just want to be able to do basic things on our own server. Like anyone playing the game.
