Seasonal events in FFXIV are bad.

I mean, I don't disagree with that. P2P > F2P. But putting cosmetics in an online shop and asking for these obscene prices is trying to have your cake and eat it, too, basically. If the cosmetics were a reasonable price and/or sales were a more common occurrence, especially on items where they already have the models (cosplays etc), that would be an improvement.

But they lost all sense of reality atp.

Well I mean how else are they going to make money? Seasonal events use to offer really cool mounts and glams, but why give it to you in game when they can charge you $45 in the online store, and the people who go to the store to buy the stuff only fuel this (I'll admit I've been guilty of that one as well).

The sub, the expac costs, the very uninspired merch... Are all justified in one way or another (except for the emotes locked behind hideous poorly produced figurines).

Unfortunately, the online store is basically just SE looking at the camera and telling you this is only the beginning.

These events are also designed for level 15+ players. If you're highest level is only 15 then you're greatly limited in where you can travel to do the events.

WoW also allows you to obtain all of the rewards (Save for the odd few that got shifted to the cash shop) from past iterations of the events and generally has meaningful event activities/achievements to pursue so...I still find them vastly superior. The level restriction is a non-issue when you can get to level 15 in the matter of like a hour and only a few expansions have actual quest/level gating that prevents you from visiting their zones immediately nowdays so if you need to farm extra currency on alts it's rather simple.

The drop RNG is the only thing I'd consider particularly bad because you can realistically go an entire event without getting all of the dropped rewards even after they implemented a "pity" that boosts your chances of getting a rare reward every time one doesn't drop.

I'm somewhat torn on this. On one hand with how FFXIV works as a game, it feels there should be more active things to do during seasonal events, but on the other hands I absolutely love the short quest oriented events in games just as Oldschool Runescape.
But I am biased because I am not a fan of seasonal events to take several days (or the entire event) of grinding to get all the rewards.

i would like if eventquests were a little bit longer. around 1h maybe.

and i think they should have old rewards too. they would have a nice christmas market with a bunch of npc's not really sellung anything.
i doubt they would piss of a lot of people if they sell that stuff once a year ingame. they could make a big red warning for event items in the shop.
they could also make it cost a lot of gil serving as a small gil sink

i know that will never happen, but i would like it

I specifically don't want the quest to be longer, I want activities. The stories are dull and forgettable, I don't need more textboxes to click through.

In regards to the new moonfire faire, I don't think this changes much. The event is still a quest and adding an RP venue doesn't really change that. Quest took me 4 minutes and now I'm done. Jumping puzzles I do enjoy, but of course you get nothing for doing it.

Dawg, do you want numbers? WoW makes numerous multiples of times more than the server and employee costs just from the player sub fee alone. FFXIV isn't any different. If anything, it's better off, because dev teams for XIV is significantly smaller.

Considering that other gatcha games have full voice lines and they are free to play is really something.
