I think this is more akin to Eureka because Anemos was released in 4.25.

i dont know how tonedeaf it really was i mean when i wrote whats with healer changes or something the yoshi P cult instantly responded with leave or go play wow or cancel your sub XD after reading the chat in this pll i know who this guy is catering and its neither raider or casuals perse its people who will follow this man without thinking of any critique.
There was one guy / girl Aurina i think who constantly gave the devs shit and pointed out this is copy pasted this is thesame yadayadayada. well instead of think about it this person got hate over hate. I agree it was much after a time but hell people been like insult them or tell him to quit finally ( which always yoshi been very alergic against best community ) So when i tryed to talk to some of them about how player numbers dropped people are unhappy and just here because they are traped with a house there only real response was quit i want your house. So yeah it doesnt matter what posts people may do which youtuber will destroy 14 they will do what they want. On the other hand you have a game which tryed this failed and now started to listen and guess what its healthy and with this i will end my post with a funny meme and the countdown for 14 to go down even more:

So... what's actually in 7.2? The new raid tier? Is that literally it for another month? And then we have to wait until May to finally get something else to do that's also kind of just more recycled content?
Holy shit lmao
Looking pretty grim bros...
Because sadly the "Casuals" are still the biggest Majority, idk if its still the case but in the past iirc it was around 2-3% of the playerbase which was involved with raiding content so 90%+ wasnt now ask yourself which playerbase does square want to keep? 1-10% or 90%?
and teaching players is always a matter of the willigness of the the player, because i played so many mmos none of them teached you your rotation or anything that was stuff which was always based on the community, the only thing square could do is literally pin the balance discord on the lodestone, that would already be a big change
Had to raise like half a party recently including my co-healer because they got caught by starboard/larboard. I think they're maybe trying some baby steps. The side arena hit multiple times isn't something we commonly see, nor the final hit going to the other side. So they can make a small adjustment like that and see how it goes.
Obviously you'll find as many definitions and expectations for what they meant by "improved encounter design", but my copium with this has always been about variety and engagement rather than difficulty. But this PLL only shows more RIGHT or LEFT cleaves and more of the same regurgitated DDR so... I'm not totally sure yet what this improved encounter design is supposed to be and where to find it (guess we'll see when 7.2 releases), but since they explicitly promised this to us 6 months ago and specifically mentioned 7.2, and have yet to say a single word about it since then, I'm starting to feel lied to. Or am I paranoid?
It really wasn't a good demonstration when the very last Arcardion raid he showed off like this did the exact same thing (a right/left cleave). When he showed off M1, it wasn't a good demonstration either when the whole thing with this expansion is that they're meant to be shaking up the battles.
They really don't consider how the first mechanics are what we see when Yoshi-P streams it. They need to make those give a good impression.
It's also ironic how there's been people unhappy with the concept of fights always being a dance, so they made it a literal dance boss.
I do think it will be interesting in practice though. It will probably be where we have to pay attention to the number of dance steps aka cleaves in the cast name and if we misread them, we get cleaved.
You guys realize that Naoki Yoshida is the Todd Howard of Sqaure Enix right
Just to be that person, we also saw so little of the encounters, we don't actually know what to expect. We've seen, relatively speaking, barely anything. We don't know how these things are going to unfold later in fights, we don't know what other mechanics there are going to be etc.
Basically, it is too early to judge a change in fight design based off of so little, we need to experience the fights ourselves to make a proper assessment on whether things are going in the right direction or not.
M1S was also a good fight, as was the entire Arcadion savage tier.
M4 looks to be music based, if you paid attention during the preview the music pre-pull was a short loop and when he pulled it swapped, with the mechanics matching to the beat. When he died, it reset to the pre-pull loop. So, it's not unreasonable to assume the fight is going to be a literal 'dance' with the music as telegraph queues as much as the telegraphs are.
And I'm gonna guess they're doubling down on faster mechanics = better encounter design that has been plaguing some of the Dawntrail bosses
Which makes them more ping sensitive and sucks major balls if you're not playing from the countries the servers are located in.
Actually looking back at the M5 preview, the music changes instantly when the fight begins, and the boss itself is actually dancing to the music in the background. It was a different ost when Yoshi was just standing there explaining stuff. I am just gonna go out on a limb and think maybe that is why the preview felt so lackluster. It was showcasing the music syncing to mechanics than just mechanics itself. I could be wrong, but that is what I got out of it.
Dude, you’re a known forum troll. If you have to criticize the game, go somewhere else and complain. You just post things criticizing the game to stir people up. Even if it’s legitimately true, quit being a Negative Nancy.
Watch me wave my magic wand and all the content creators suddenly turn their videos to "FFXIV is saved, so much content!" in lieu of them wanting to save their media tour passes!
People need to understand when SE says "It's okay to not play the game" they mean "keep your subscription active too though."
They are so out of touch they genuinely want you to pay for nothing and try to spin it as a positive.
100% agree with this. Dawntrail just released, and the game is losing a record number of active players, with lows not seen since 2020, before the exodus from WoW. The developers don't listen to literally any complaint about dumbing down jobs, recycling and delaying content. There is no reason to be a Negative Nancy.
I am terrible at explaining things in detail so I will keep it simple. This game is SE's golden goose but instead of naturing and pampering it for the best eggs. They are Strangling and starving it while demanding the goose continues to lay golden eggs, the poor thing has been reduced too a wrinkled mass of skin, feathers and bones. Its ability to vocalize has been shot for so long the goose does not know if can even make vocalizations ever again.
I suppose it also depends on whether what he showed off was Normal Mode or Savage. While it might not make a huge difference, since the mechanics in Normal tend to carry over to Savage. I always thought the new mechanics would primarily appear in Savage. Maybe I’m the only one who expected that, but I kind of assumed Normal Mode would stay mostly the same, with Savage introducing the more challenging mechanics.
I could see alternating halves to the beat in addition to other mechanics being a thing in savage, though it would suck if they designed that and then decided to neuter BLM's difficulty instead of revising the fight. It wouldn't surprise me after they changed DRG's burst window for FRU, but it'd still be disappointing.
The moves actually had how many times he would hit whatever side was glowing. If you looked at the cast bar, you could 2x and 4x. Now if it depended where they were in the song, that could be something but we have to wait and see.
Constructive criticism is how you get things done. Being nonconstructive and hostile about things is how you get your opinion ignored. There is a wide berth between "This is bad, this is why this is bad (with data), and here's what could be done to fix it." and "SE sucks and thinks they're all braindead morons and suckers."
I defurnished my house and cancelled my sub
My time doesnt feel respected when the content is drip fed exactly every 4 weeks just to make sure I pay more
I really hope that 7.2 is a flop to put SE on a hot mess with the investors, MAYBE THEN we can see the game improve and stop getting squeezed for every penny
I made a constructive thread on the topic of queue times, Shogun has an extensive and incredible thread on how to bring flavour back into the game
What happens to those threads?, they get ignored because people would rather interact with a troll thread, just to tell them "stop being negative" or "give constructive feedback"
Back in Stormblood there was a Savage raid called O8S.
One of the mechanics was called Forsaken.
Forsaken 1 was probably the most interesting heal check they've ever put into this game and it was more than just walking to the correct spot.
Kefka starts by casting Heartless Archangel. This applies a debuff called Incurable that has something like...
- A 5 second incurable debuff if you are at max HP when Heartless Archangel lands.
- A 12 second incurable debuff if you are not at max HP when Heartless Archangel lands.
(Numbers could be wrong it's been like 7 years since I did that fight)
Incurable means any form of healing and shielding will not apply while you have the debuff.
Now Heartless Archangel also drops everyone down to 1 HP. So you're at 1 HP *and* you also cannot receive any heal? And right after HA the DPS also needs to soak damage immediately?
The solution was elegant: you have to pre-shield them enough so that they can survive some hits during Incurable. And 3 seconds after Incurable drops off, they also need to soak damage from the Kefka heads. That requires them to be healed right after Incurable. So timing is important here, where the healers have to let the heal land right as Incurable falls off, and heal enough in a short time so that the DPS can do their job. The DPS also has to pay attention to their health and pop the Kefka heads only when they are ready to soak a hit. The tankbusters will then happen, so after taking care of the DPS, the healers need to take care of healing the tank. Back then we didn't have OP heals like Macrocosmos, so it actually required multiple abilities and GCD healing. Knowing to choose the right heal - AoE or single target actually mattered for this mechanic.
And Heartless Archangel is then casted again in like 40 seconds or something, after a gauntlet of damage, tankbusters, and heavy-hitting raidwides. In fact I think it happened like 7 seconds after an Ultima, so you have to get everyone to max HP right after a very heavy-hitting raidwide.
Back then healers actually had to use Helios and Medica. The world top logs had 20+ casts of Aspected Benefic, Aspected Helios, and Helios.
There are several more examples like the CC in A6S (which had an encore in E8S), the kiting in T7S, etc....
It also doesn't help that there is nary a pip from them. https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...-healer-issues
This was probably the most constructive take on healers to put. As of know, hardly any of these issues have been addressed.
Edit: Now this is somewhat outdated and the op is no longer subbed as far to my knowledge goes but still many points stand. Especially with the variety of attacks.
They'll never make healers good again.
The BLM gutting shows that the healer vision is THE vision they want for EVERY job. Healers were the canary in the coal mine in ShB. People dismissed their concerns, and now the plague is coming for everyone.
There will still be people holding out copium for 8.0 though!
geez i hate this take so freakin much and i cant hear it anymore. So people did a ton of threads and spoken critiques which been constructive. Healer threads other job changes the story and its issue and even what you could do better. GUESS WAHT THEY IGNORED IT. So either they think the critique is always not constructive ( then what the hell is ) or they just dont fcking care. Here some examples when people did good critique which shouldnt be ignored
Healer problems
Viper
Samurai
blackmage
story issues ( paceing )
bad synchro ( EN one )
Songs doesnt fit the situation
blacklist is a lack
constant ddos attacks killing rare runs
events are very boring click quests
want some more ? people stated what exactly the problem is what they think might be better and it got ignored and the cult of 14 tryed to shout everything down. the new way is calling everyone with critique a wow player ( how mature like it is a bad thing ) or a titanman twink a troll just doomposter. i think the most opening moment for me was when they fcked up so badly that you couldnt solve a story relevant MUST DO ali raid and when i blamed SE for it i got called a doomposter who should delete the account. I am very sorry but i dont know what you talk about when you say people are not constructive
SE doesn't listen to criticism, constructive or not.
It's pretty ironic how they claim that the ARR/HW community asked for everything they're getting right now, while so many players spent all of SHB/EW asking for more job complexity and innovative content, only for SE to do the opposite in Dawntrail.
At the end of the day, it's all about doing what's best for SE's budget and then cherry-pick community feedback to justify their decisions. The biggest proof of that is the lobotomy of VPR, supposedly due to a single JP thread with 2 or 3 likes.
Trials and normals and dungeon bosses I think the encounter design has been improved.
The problem is the dungeons overall suck, and there is not nearly enough of it.
I might try savage for the first time, but I got to say the fun with extremes is at least trying to prog most if it blind. I tried M1S, and with an the studying guides and turning it into a drill, it was just so un-fun.
So if don't need to gear up for savage, I don't see what point there is in doing any of the new instances more than once. Every bit of gear very quickly makes casual extremely boring.
I still want a mount or something for farming normal clears. Something that's not gear, because the gear is meaningless for casual.
