I think you need to look up the meaning of "toxic positivity." Saying "I like the game" isn't toxic.

When there is a concern of erroneous dialogue like the OP pointed out, then no it really isn't, the story is really obnoxious due to the levels of repetition, and it is wholly unnecessary. The fact you view people in this thread as "Losing their minds" is comedic and just goes to show you really aren't living in reality if this is your interpretation of the thread.
You aren't showing appreciation of anything when your follow-up is "Please disregard."
You're also funny though, I am still waiting for your statistic and proof of the following:
Such a shame too, since you said this point with such confidence.
That's just your opinion.
Not "people". You specifically. You said that me saying "no don't" is toxic positivity, which is absolutely hilarious :D like you're so far detached from "positivity" that you view any positivity at all as toxic.Quote:

I'll give you the statistics you want tomorrow or the day after :)Quote:

Agreed to everything except this part. I don't really want the game to have the Great Filter 2.0. ARR is already considered to be a filter because of so many people quitting mid-way. So I think them taking the time to fix the glue that keeps the game together (the story) is a great thing.
But even if they won't, people already skip through ARR, so I personally see no problem in people skipping DT if they don't like it, or any expac for that matter. There are plenty of moments in which the characters will remind you of past events without prompt.
I say don't waste money, take the EXP and just skip. It took me on an experimental character about 1 day of skipping, the majority of which was halted by waiting for dungeons and raids + CT. So it is not that long. I think DT is shorter than ARR too, so it might take even less.
All I am trying to say is, don't waste money on a skip, just skip normally if you don't like it and take the free EXP.
I will say that 8.0 basically has to be the "new starting point" from a gameplay standpoint otherwise Dawntrail will forever stand as a massive filter between Endwalker and whatevers next.
Sure it is an opinion, that's the whole point of a subjective topic.
Your tone with "Please disregard" is a pretty dismissive stance on complaints, hence why it is toxic positivity. You can circle around all you want with whataboutisms with people expressing an opinion on the state of the story alongside recommendations to fix it, but your response effectively amount to:
"Well I liked it, so disregard all these complaints". You can like it all you want, I personally don't have a problem if you liked it, but you're sat here with the "Disregard their opinion plz".
Please do, because I am very curious what data you're pulling from, especially where you can comfortably say it is account for the vast majority of players which is well over 100K, and especially to where you can definitively say they enjoyed it.
It's already a problem, even if the other expansions are good, there's a good 300-400 hours of visual novel before you can actually get to relevant gameplay. I don't think they'll ever introduce a new starting point, because it will make story skips on the MogStation moot.
I never said disregard the opinion of everyone who dislikes DT. I said disregard this specific suggestion of gutting cutscenes to appeal to haters. It's alarming how dismissive you are of people who don't like the idea raised by OT. But here, I never raised any "whataboutisms" at all, so I don't really know what you're trying to accuse me of. I think maybe you got my posts confused with something else from another thread because the negatively you're exhibiting really doesn't relate to what I've said here. It just sounds like you saw the smallest amount of praise for DT and extrapolated it into something entirely different.
While I personally had no issues with Dawntrail, besides a few cringe worthy moments. I also think it would be in the dev team's best interest to give it the ARR treatment as well, considering how much backlash this expansion has gotten compared to all the other previous expansions.
The side quests are okay, but the main story quest could have a few things trimmed down; mainly less talking from Wuk Lamat since a massive portion of the playerbase has a problem with being forced to talk with her alot.
Unrelated to the topic, but:
And, if possible. Add some extra dialog and interactions with Erenville and Krile to better evenly distribute the focus between the latter two and Wuk Lamat. While Dawntrail may mainly be Wuk Lamat's story, I think it would be for the best for the devs to at least try to fix the plainly uneven distribution of interactions and dialog between the player character and Krile, Wuk Lamat and Erenville. This way, Wuk Lamat becomes less irritable to the majority of the playerbase while making her at least a tad more likable/palatable and giving Krile and Erenville much deserved screen time.
